There is only one thing I truly liked at Firkin, in the men’s room the ceiling fan has a switch for it… on the ceiling. It’s at a awkward angle and says«don’t do it» written on it next to a cock. Distracts you from the absolutely filthy nature of the bathroom. It’s just terrible. I will say they make one of the worst margaritas I’ve ever tasted. No booze and way way waaaaay to much OJ. FYI margaritas shouldn’t have OJ in it, especially that Tang tasting crap they use. Staff was fine, friendly enough. Band playing wasn’t good but I likes that the wee stage only fit ¾ of the band. Dirty, basic. Decent beer selection. A couple hipsters but mostly old rummies. I mean there were some folks that were pretty hard looking from rough living. Couldn’t have anything to do with the sleepy looking dude in the tan leather jacket and porkpie hat hopping around like a jack rabbit with his little man purse. I wonder what has in there… why I don’t think it was a deck of cards yet«dealer» seems to be the right phrase. Anyway, a bit more on the hole side than I like my dive bars.

Typical neighborhood hipster dive bar. decent tap list and cocktail capability depending on the bartender. Crazy cheap pizza slices and happy hour specials keep the mismatched bar stools occupied.

Great place to come hang! Great staff and chill environment. Pretty decent beer list and the bar tenders know how to make a drink!

Do you like cheap beer and really chill staff? This is the place for you. With a great rotating beer list and fun things like«cherry bombs» and Jell-O shots. They also have some great music that is not too loud or too quiet.

I went here two years ago and left my credit card behind. In the morning my credit card company called because someone at the bar had used it and tried to make purchases on an obscene website. I got my card back the next day and have never been back. Not classy guys.

This is in my top 5 of portland bars. If you love checking out the pulse of local portland rock music, this is the place to hit, although not always my cup of tea, but often glorious and always free! The music usually starts at 7, so you don’t even have to exhaust yourself to enjoy. The great tap list is often changing and the bartenders are great.

No frills. Friendly bartender. Solid OR beer selection. Pinball, pool, TVs. We sought refuge from the Portland drizzle at this neighborhood watering hole and downed a couple pints.

Do you like open mic nights? Yes? Go here on Sunday’s at 7:30. Everyone is awesome and inviting and their pizzas are weirdly amazing. I had the vegetarian one with spinach, arugula, garlic, craisins and whatever other amazing stuff was on it and it was awesome. And cheap!

Sunday nights at the Firkin are where to be if you’re not the type to go to Stripparoke. Their open mic night attracts some lovely folks, so you can come watch chill people swoon over your talented friend. Bartenders are friendly and drinks are cheap. Be aware that this is definitely a beer and whiskey bar. They serve up cheap slices of pizza and burgers if you get hungry. Oh — and the patio out back is a fun spot to chill for a while. Also, they may or may not show Game of Thrones on Sunday nights after open mic. Cannot confirm or deny. I mean, they totally don’t(do). Firkin is definitely a neighborhood Portland bar. Make yourself a regular, why dontcha.

nice pub with good atmosphere over in SEPDX. They have some good beers on tap and more than decent pizza as well. Live music on weekends as well.

We came here simply because of the name. I mean, who wouldn’t want to go to a firkin bar? Our stop occurred after a Blazer game. I’d wasn’t in need of another drunk, but ordered a piece of pizza. My friend was still in party mode and got a shot of tequila with an orange sprinkled with cinnamon. I was surprised they had oranges and cinnamon on hand, but only because this seems to be a strictly PBR kind of place. That was a pleasant surprise. I am not a pool, shuffle board or video game aficionado, but this place definitely has something for everyone. Namely. hot food for the likes of me. I also appreciate that this is located in the SE part of town, where you don’t have to pay to park and there are no time restrictions. Yet.

Kind of a dive bar, but they’ve got a decent selection at a good price. The live band was a good plus, but it was our 4th place on a pub crawl so I was fairly lubricated by the time we arrived here and can’t provide an accurate opinion of the band playing.

Seriously, one of the best bartenders in town. I’m always greeted with a great smile and witty comment. Amazing pizza. Awesome happy hour PBR and cheese pizza for 3 bucks. Great local bar!

WHAT IT’S SOGOOD EVERYTHINGISSOGOOD I DON’T UNDERSTAND How does this bar have the best pizza I’ve ever had? There’s a foodie fig pizza and a pepperoni pizza ANDTHEY’REBOTHPERFECT. The crust! The heat! AND! They have every drink I’ve ever wanted! This live soft/bouncy/humble jazz is sweet and(good god do you see that guy on bass? His hands! He’s amazing!) I can still hear my partner and also all the other conversations, and did I mention how somehow the other patrons are – to the one – funny and real and: sweet: and perfect for peoplewatching? Seriously it’s like we’ve fallen into an indie movie about some quirky boy’s coming of age; I don’t understand.

Great little dive bar! Decent tap list and decent atmosphere/conversation. Kind of ended up here and ill kind of end up here again soon… Its just a dive bar with a NICE tap list. They change it out with seasons as well. You cant beat the price either… who wants to go o 9 $ beer night all the time. I want to enjoy a great beer and not feel I got taken when it comes to paying… Dont expect anything fancy. its the epitome of a dive bar, but you come for the company and beer!

The Firkin Tavern has the best tap list of any dive bar I’ve ever stumbled in to. Hands down. I’ve only dropped in twice, but both times I’ve been able to order several beers that I’d never been able to try before(not easy for this beer snob). The prices were decent, too. I don’t come to this neighborhood often, but I’ll make a point to grab a beer or two at the FT any time I am. Like I said, it’s totally a dive, but I guess that’s part of what I like about it. They’ve also had cover-free live music both times I was there.

The Firkin Taven is. It exists. There are beers. Actually a pretty good list of them. There is liquor. There is food from a Fryolator. There are TV’s. The bartender’s name is Don. That’s my name. And I can get down with that. It’s a good name. We found the Ducks game here. At least one quarter of a Ducks game. The place was pretty empty and so quiet as to be noticeably quiet. Like, no music, no TV sound… quiet. Either the acoustics are designed so as to suck all the sound out of the room or I am finally officially going deaf. We even asked about the sound, and he said they usually play music from Spotify or whatever. But for some reason, that Saturday, not. The space has low ceilings, is kind of dark but still flourescent-lit, and it sports pool tables and a smoking porch. Honestly we couldn’t really think of a reason to stick around, especially since the TV at my house is bigger and my booze at home is already paid for. We came down because Blitz was too cray, but the lack of excitement didn’t have me wanting to stay. it’s still an okay bar if you’re in the area and need a decent beer selection(and don’t want to walk the 4 blocks down to Apex). Multiple TV’s help. It is… 3 stars.
