This place is the BOMB. Every single time I have been it is amazing. I have had the corn, wings, queso, guacamole, enchiladas, and tacos and they are all so good. My favorite restaurant in Portland and definitely underrated. The only downside is the wait… its a small place and can get busy on the weekends which has caused us to wait an hour plus. They did comp us free food for having to wait so long which was nice, so even when things were bad, they came right back and totally redeemed theirselves! Five Stars. Must go.

Went here for my birthday and tried a bunch of items. The classic margarita left something to be desired, but I stepped it up to a Perfect Patron margarita and was not disappointed. A bit pricey, but packs a punch. The chorizo queso is delicious and the corn on the cob was AMAZING. It comes with 3 cobs and my boyfriend and I could have easily eaten 3 more. This is a must get appetizer. We were pretty full after all that, but got a main course as well. I did not try the burrito that my boyfriend got, but it was the size of a small baby… that thing was huge. He enjoyed it & the leftovers too! The stacked brisket enchilada was off the chain. The flavors were amazing and it was topped with a fried egg, so great & will definitely order again.

The Goose is little unassuming from the outside but my boyfriend and I popped in on a random night for a drink and after glancing at their food menu determined we couldn’t leave without trying the green chile potatoes. They were so delicious that we were bummed we weren’t in the market for dinner and thus we made a date to return. Happily, upon our return, we were served by the same cheerful, pleasant waitress(5 stars for her!) and we got their margarita special of the day(a champagne margarita commemorating their 2 year anniversary), the potatoes again, as well as the chile relleno burrito and the stacked brisket enchilada. Amazing flavors all around. Our waitress was more than happy to let us split the margarita and even offered to bring it to us in two glasses which I thought was very generous(we didn’t feel the need for a pint-sized margarita each). We scarfed the potatoes and then struggled a little to keep up with our entrees so we got some boxes and I am happy to report that even nuked the next day they were amazing. The prices are fair for what you receive. I have dropped some serious money at Portland restaurants only to receive incredibly tepid service and small portions. To have legitimate table service, great waitstaff/bartenders, and delicious food makes me very happy. We will be returning!

This place was amazing! The food was excellent and the service was even better. We arrived at 7 on a Friday and they quickly and efficiently accommodated our group of 11. We sat within 20 minutes of putting our name in. I was really impressed with the way they treated us. You can always find good food in Portland, but the combo of good food and service is a little more rare to find. 100% will be back again!

The chef must be a magician because this was the best composed series of bites I’ve ever had. I kept ranting and raving about the tortillas. They are house made and delightful. My significant other got the special ahi tacos and couldn’t wait to order more. I got the tinga stacked enchilada. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried it.

Great food and awesome service! We sat at the bar and Elise the bar tender suggested the brisket enchiladas and we were not disapointed. Not your standard boring wrapped tortillas with melted cheese. A huge pile of extremly diverse flavors that were in expected. I would recommend anyone try these. The chicken wings were also incredible and I eat those everywhere I go. Top 3 chicken wings in the city for sure. Enjoy!

Great mid-scale(a bit nicer than the typical dive places in the area, but still casual) Mex-SW-American-foodie fusion place. I was not expecting much, but the food is fantastic, everything I’ve eaten there so far, including typical-looking american«bar food» items. They put a lot of work into their sauces, and everything comes out much better than usual, often with creative spins on classics. Their margaritas are also excellent. Oh, and their service rocks. And they have a good late-night menu. Not«cheap», but very reasonable prices for the quality of the food. Can’t say a single thing bad about them.

The Goose is a New Mexican fusion joint implementing green chiles in their menu yet adding their own fresh interpretation of SouthWestern cuisine. The Goose meddles flavors of fresh ingredients bursting with richness. Happy Hour margaritas on the patio, is something you need to do this summer. If you’re looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant, look elsewhere, as the Goose has more to offer than what you’re use to. The pork belly carnitas, is smoked and served on house made corn tortillas, which are very flavorful and that smokiness adds an extra element to the everyday taco. Their hatch green chile smothered on a smoked pork shoulder burrito is a savory sensory explosion. You could probably share the burrito, as it’s enough for two, unless you’re up for the challenge. The Goose has a fresh creative menu, that resonates well with my depiction of Southwestern, as there is no definitive meaning of SouthWestern. Relax, and enjoy a margarita, great service and be open to new flavors, you might just like it.

In my personal opinion, Portland is not the best place in the world to get good Mexican food. In fact, I am still searching for one. Until my wife suggested we go to this Blue Goose place. She’s never been there either but passes by everyday after work and has heard good things. Let’s try it. A Tex-Mex place. Not much to look at from the outside on it corner spot. Just a blue building with a neon goose on its marquee. Walk into a bar like setting with some booths. We get seated in a booth and handed the menus. Order some water the some chips and guacamole. Then order our food. Out comes the cops and guacamole and Wow. Some of the best guacamole we’ve had in a while. The chips were house made and were tasty. They had a cucumber Pico salsa we wanted to try so we asked for a sample. They abliged and that was GOOD. So we scarfed the chips and guacamole then out came the food. She got carne asada tacos and I got what they call Stacked Brisket Enchiladas. Only one word can describe our dinner, AMAZING! The carne asada was seasoned to perfection with house made tortillas. The brisket enchiladas were literally to f’n BOMB. Made with house corn tortillas, corn, other cheese I can’t pronounce but was delicious. But it was the brisket that made this dish. Brisket that is far superior that of Famous Daves. All in all, a great place to eat. Reasonably priced. Next time, I got to try the drinks. You won’t be disappointed.

Butternut Squash Tacos? YES! Avocado Tacos? ABSOLUTELY! Margaritas were yummy, and the Mexican Mule(Like a Moscow Mule, but a version using Tequila) were fabulous! Service was quirky and fun, but super friendly and in a timely fashion. Fun atmosphere, and interesting décor made this a great start to our evening before Ubering over to the Omsi After Dark(Tapas & Tequila) Event.

I wish the ratings came in halves. Three stars seems stingy and four seems too high… In any case, after walking from my apartment, I was craving a margarita and delighted to find a table with direct sunlight. I swooped in like… well, whatever swoops in quickly(i’m falling short on examples right now). Ironically, after looking at their drink menu, I didn’t even order a margarita. I had their tequila mule and IT. WAS. AWESOME. In the afternoon heat, it was so refreshing and crisp, and the ginger beer was so satisfying. No regrets there. My fellow sunshine seeker had a beer-rita. He said it was ok, but that he should have gone for a margarita. I didn’t order any of the main dishes, but we did split the chips and salsa. That, oddly enough, is where this place fell short. It seemed like they were really trying to nail presentation with three different sauces. None were salsa. A green sauce with cotija, pico with cumin(?) and an adobo sauce. Where was the SALSA? I wanted simple, and yeah, it was presented nicely, but none of them was what I was wanting/expecting when looking for chips and salsa. Sauce and a hot day don’t scream«winner!» to me. Don’t overthink it guys. Maybe have the option of a classic spicy version. Moving on; that was way more time than I wanted to spend on a dip. The goose is an excellent spot to get some sunshine and a good libation. I can’t speak much on the food, but i’d like to return to see if I have better luck with something else.

Hard to say where to begin on reviewing this place. It is small, feels a tad cramped when you enter but somehow you don’t give a crap as you belly up to the bar for your first Cadillac margarita to set the tone of your evening. By the time we started to feel the first drink we were being seated and quickly tended to for the next round. This time a mango habanero margarita that was something I have never tried before. Spicy, sweet, salty, and a pretty good pour rolled nicely into our first appetizer, roasted corn on the cob. Nicely browned, with an incredible sauce topped with cojita cheese. It was fantastic. Homemade tortilla chips are thicker than most, but held up perfectly to the chunky guacamole, queso, and salsa. With our appetizers settling nicely the main courses arrived. I had the brisket enchilada stack. Arrived looking better than the pictures you see in the reviews. Colorful, inspired, and delicious, spicy, savory, different. Don’t question the egg, just pop that yoke and dig in. My wife had the butternut squash tacos and had difficulty explaining why they were the best thing she had ever tasted. Different, sweet, spicy, and also well presented. Our friends were also blown away with the evening and their meals. This is a place you may have to drive a bit for depending on location, but it’s worth it. There is parking between the 2 restaurants, and plenty on the street if those are full. Well done Goose crew. We will spread our experience and get you some new customers!

This is my first time and I absolutely love it! We sat at the bar in this empty welcoming space only to later be surrounded by the beautiful buzz of conversation and what turned out to be a wait line. This place is certainly worth the wait. From the corn on the cobs, the margaritas, to the homemade tortillas — you can not go wrong with this place! The staff was incredible and checked on us constantly… While one of the bartenders even kept up a really friendly, comforting conversation with us. We came here as a first ½ of a date and ended up loving and enjoying our time so much that we almost missed our movie! My how time flies when you’re having fun in a relaxing environment surrounded by nothing but comfort in food and drinks and laughs. I’ve already recommended this place to several friends! Coming back for sure!

I had dinner with a group of friends here a few weekends ago while visiting Portland. We didn’t have too much trouble getting a table for five on a Saturday evening, despite it being a pretty small spot. I ordered the Hatch Green Chile Pork Burrito(from the menu: «mesquite smoked pork shoulder, fried yukon gold potatoes, Hatch green chile, pico de gallo, aged manchego, white cheddar cheese and guacamole topped with salted crema and green onions»). The pork shoulder was really tasty, as was the green chile salsa(just enough spice to liven things up a bit). The burrito was huge but a good bit of it was potato, which for me toned down the other flavors too much and made things a little bland. I ultimately ended up digging some of the potato out so that I could enjoy the other flavors a little more. My friend ordered the Grilled Romaine Salad, and was disappointed because it was pretty soggy. Not bad, but I wasn’t blown away either.

We’ve been about 6 times and the food and service are outstanding. The butternut squash tacos are outstanding. We’ve also enjoyed all of the different enchiladas. It’s all awesome. Want the 5th star? 1. Where is the Iced Tea? What are you thinking? No iced tea? 2. If I want a extra taco sell me another taco al a carte… Don’t make buy two more. That’s just BS and why not make the customer happy? Empower your staff to do that kind of stuff. You are close to going to three stars and so close to five. I’m frustrated.

A super casual tex mex joint that has taken over the former Esparza space. Feels more like a bar than a restaurant, but we love it. Its cheap, non fussy and the service is great. I’m a fan and here’s a few more reasons why… 1) Margaritas– it takes a few to get a slight buzz but I like them nonetheless. Right now they’re featuring a cranberry jalapeño margarita(with fresh cranberry purée). Doesn’t taste like a mixer was thrown in. Yum! 2) Cheap– sometimes I’m not in the mood for a fussy dinner. I want some solid food and tasty beverages and the Goose fits the bill. Two tacos for $ 7.50 works for me. 3) The food. I love that the corn tortillas are fresh and homemade tasting and the guac has a nice tex mex cotija cheese spin on it. I also love the hatch chilies throughout the menu. The food is a bit heavy, so I usually opt for dairy on the side and the chicken tacos, although my eyes always wander to the delic sounding pork quesadilla. I tried the carnitas tacos once and found them way too greasy(so chicken it is). We’ve been here three times since discovering this place and always walk away happy and satiated. Also a good place to grab a few margaritas(or Shiner Bock if this tickles your fancy) as well if you’re not in the mood for food. We’re fans!

We stumbled across the street to The Goose, as it looked like a shining beacon of fun light on a dark, rainy evening. Not being in the mood for tacos(although they’re apparently raved about), we ended up trying our luck with a couple of margaritas. Sadly, our drinks weren’t that great(combination of overly strong alcohol-wise and mix-wise), and were a little pricey($ 10+) at that. It was fairly quiet when we were there, which was nice, at least. Not really my cup of tea, unfortunately.

A dilemma for me: scrumptious awesome tacos(home made tortillas), but portions are small and prices are high. Sigh. $ 7.50 for two street-sized tacos, no side, so absolutely no value here. Burritos average about $ 13.50. I’ve never been comfortable with high priced Mexican(ahem, New Mexican) fare. Free chips right? Nope fork over $ 4.50. My above average margarita was $ 10. Are you thinking Happy Hour? The food prices are the same as on the regular menu. Bogus. The food is very good, so reluctantly a return visit for me. Parking sucks, server and bartender very nice.

Um, hello most delicious tacos I’ve ever put in my mouth! We came here on a Thursday evening when The Goose was operating a limited menu due to Hood to Coast coming up. I was bummed since I really wanted to try the burger, but instead got some brisket tacos that rocked my world! I wasn’t super impressed with the guac(honestly, I can make a better guac) and was a little bummed by that, but the taco was SOGOOD. Service was prompt, non-invasive, and friendly. I’ll definitely be back here to try more tacos and some day, that burger!

I grew up 90 miles from the border of Mexico and this place felt like home! Oh my god, the tacos were so delicious. And I had a bite from my friends Green Chile burger, dayumm. I had the pork shoulder taco and the pork was perfectly tender and seasoned. The corn tortillas were authentic! Amazing chips, salsa, and queso. Plus the margaritas. don’t even get me started. Blood orange & ginger?! Kiwi, rose! Yes. Just yes.
