Bees rule! And people who hate bees drool(or are just plain wrong, that’s probably more accurate). This place is an homage to a the works of the great and powerful honeybee. I left wanting a beehive of my very own. And I certainly could have had one because this place offers a wide array of beekeeping supplies, books, and knowledgeable advice from the store owner who was glad to talk me through all the ins and outs of the hive life. Alas, I’m not ready for the responsibilities of raising a hive of my own, so I decided to honor the bees endeavors by gorging on their harvest… HONEY!!! So much honey. They have honey from every season, honey beauty products, honey with different flavor combinations, honey in various foods, wines, and liquor products. You name it, if it has honey they got it. Let’s not forget the beeswax. They carry my favorite beeswax candles, Big Dipper, among the multitude of wax merchandise they stock. Easily spent an hour mesmerized by all the cool stuff in this store. Sometimes it beez like that though. Ha!

This needs more outstanding reviews! I got on the whole local raw honey kick for my seasonal allergies and for a while I was getting one kind from Whole Foods. I read about this place and at first disbelieved something catering to just honey lovers even existed. I was way wrong. I’ve actually become more interested in bee’s since repeatedly walking into this place. It’s a small space, but they pack a lot in it. So many different flavors quite unique outside of the grocery store. Honey infused mead, mustard, bbq sauce, face and body creams, lotions, soaps, you name it. The owners are terrific people too. They will answer any question you have, and perhaps show you in the back, how it’s made. I love supporting local beekeepers. Do yourself a favor, stop in, just to browse. While you’re there, sample some of the amazing varieties and feel good about it.

I too am giving this wonderful shop the best rating possible — because it is WELL deserved. You might be thinking: «It’s HONEY. How hard could it be?» Let me tell you, this place has EVERYTHING. If you’re like me and you’re afraid of bees but love their sweet good stuff, you can pretty much find anything honey related you’d want here — from fresh honeycomb to honey soap, to honey lemon rosemary soda.(Which is amazing, by the way.) But if you LOVE bees and are a budding apiarist/hobbyist, they also carry all the supplies you’d need for your own backyard hives. That is, I assume they have everything. I bet if they don’t have something you want, they know how to get it. The woman working at the store was absolutely lovely. Very helpful, extremely knowledgeable and she let us sample the various honey. Totally check this place out. And while you’re near the Quality Shop, be sure to stop by for a molasses cookie whoopie pie.(You’ll thank me later.)

Amazing place. I popped in here today — finally! — to pick up a gift for someone and walked out with several items for myself as well. How could I resist? The owner, Meghan, was fantastic — she immediately greeted me and asked if I needed any help, and when I paid we had an awesome chat about beekeeping(and she showed me their bees, fascinating!). Every single item in the shop is bee or honey-related… from raw honey(their brand of spiced blends are amazing) to beeswax candles and lip balm to various ciders/ales/meads/wines to candy and honey straws. Not to mention clothing, cards, seed bombs, beekeeping supplies… I could go on. Fantastic place!

Stopped by here with my husband on a whim as we were driving through Stevens Ave. My husband is a 2nd generation beekeeper, so was interested to see what was going on here. The shop features a fine selection of honey/bee-related products. All for gift/retail prices. I probably wouldn’t go here to get the best price on honey, but certainly to get something nice for one of my bee-loving friends or to find a unique present for a housewarming party. The owner, Meghan, was exceptionally polite and enthusiastic. She showed us all around the shop, and answered our questions honestly. She even took us to the back where they process their honey. Their selection of spiced honeys were out of this world delicious and inspiring. This couldn’t have been a more pleasant retail experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in honey, beekeeping, bees or just cool unique shops in Portland!

I always prefer to spend my money with small independent businesses and shop local, but the Honey Exchange is an extra special treasure. On one side of the shop they have all kinds of cool gifts… lots of hand made goodies, things for kids, bath and body products, cool t-shirts… as well as all different kinds of honey(local and from other regions) wine, mead, beer… and on the other side they have supplies and things beekeepers would need, plus you can see a live working hive, and where they extract honey. It’s a great learning experience as well as a perfect stop for unique gifts and don’t forget to taste the honey!

The owner is really nice. You can see bees doing their thing, with explanations and patience from the staff. All the products are quality. The also have a selection of honey candies, which are delish. And gifts. And honey. They can help you with beekeeping also.

This is a great store. You won’t find anything like it in Portland, or probably anywhere. Stop in and sample honey from around the world at the honey bar, watch the demonstation hive and see bees in action, or browse through their small but exceptionally well chosen wine and beer selection. Fun assortment of gift items as well. It is worth the short drive from downtown.
