Sweet bartender, attentive and friendly. Always. Autumn is fun and creative! Good neighborhood crew. Great service and music and they have shuffle board! And karaōke!

I love dive bars/pubs/small dining establishments, but I do not love The Hutch. On our most recent venture to the locale, the food was decent enough(nothing to rave about and bland), but the service was lacking. So much so that, due to the service we received, we will not be returning to this establishment. Considering the place was empty, we really should have known better! Their neighbor, American Dream was packed, and for good reason. Having served in a similar establishments myself in the past, I expected more. Not only were we completely ignored throughout the entire service, we had to interrupt the server’s conversation in the back to pay our bill. From the time we arrived, she was inconvenienced and annoyed. The real kicker is that she overcharged us as well– a complete lack of attention to detail on her part. Ultimately, the server’s behavior made it abundantly clear, she didn’t care and she won’t miss our patronage. Note to The Hutch: Your server can make, or break, your establishment.

I have been to places that charge the same for a buffalo wing on wing night that the Hutch charges for A(yes, ONE!) tater tot for their regular menu price($ 5 for like 23 tots!). I mean, I guess I did get a free side of ranch! It is a dive bar — excellent food is not expected, but don’t rip people off. $ 2.50 for CLUBSODA? For Real? …and then the $ 0.75 charge for using a credit card under $ 10. Suddenly 23 tots, free ranch(thanks!) and a pint of club soda(Oh, another freebie — the LIME! Thanks again!) is $ 8.25. I feel bad for the nice staff who have to be nice to people who are angry because of pricing.

I go to the Hutch every single week. The bartender is really friendly, and the drinks are stiff. But, please, PLEASE, for the love of god, do not order food here! I’m sure there are a few hidden gems on the menu, but for the most part it is over-priced and pretty terrible. My girlfriend felt ill for a day after eating their chicken fingers, without actually getting ill. They were just so gross! The burgers are always just so-so. And other reviewers are correct: the ownership is trying to squeeze every last penny out of you. We ordered tots for I think $ 5. We received 22. Twenty-two tots! They created one layer of tots on a small plate. Not even a pile of tots for $ 5! We’ve given more than their fair share of chances. So do yourself a favor and drink your hunger away until the management makes a change.

This place will charge you an additional 75¢ if you pay for anything under $ 20 with a credit card. I feel like I’m getting nickel and dimed if I want to just come in for 2 or 3 drinks and don’t have any cash.

Super rad bar, but in serious need of cleaning their keg lines. DONOTGET A BEERONTAP. I thought I didn’t like the beer I’d chosen, but sure enough, they all have a weird tang to them that ISNOT supposed to be there. Clean your system and I’d def give you a 5 star rating! I love a good dive bar, but I also love a beer on tap.

It’s dark and dirty and cheap — just want I from a bar. So much«yes» it hurts. Not to mention the fact that they have karaōke. That’s a guaranteed good show right there! Plus, they have food. If there is only one person working the food service can be slow but at least it’s there for an option. It’s a very casual place to hang out with friends. Many different places to sit: some cozy, some very large and open. They have bar games, drink specials, TVs, dark lights, and good times. I really enjoyed the music selection here which was determined by the bartenders. They have some taste in the music department, that’s for sure. A brief, casual visit to the spot gave me a good feeling that this is a great place to toss back a few and enjoy life.

Nothing like a dive bar, especially a dive bar that is walking distance from home. I’ve been in my North Tabor neighborhood for around two months now and well I got the opportunity to visit the Hutch. Granted I went on Karaōke night and that might not have been the wisest of decisions. The hostess, the bartender and one other guy were the only ones that had talent. Surprisingly, it was guys doing most of the singing. I found that odd. Anyway, it was a quiet Saturday, one lady was winning money on video poker, people were playing shuffleboard and two big tables were up front watching the festivities(aka tone-deaf singers) I enjoyed a couple of frosty barley and hops beverages and got a decent bar burger to go with it. It was a simple burger with potato salad. Lettuce, tomato, onions and I added bbq sauce and cheese. It was a good standard bar burger, nothing over the top crazy but solid and it hit the spot. Nice little dive, friendly staff and I was not even remotely drunk enough to sing anything myself. It would take a lot more than two beers. Another dive bar chalked up. Enjoy.

Came here on Xmas for a few drinks and a reprieve from the holiday jive. Just moved to the hood so I was looking forward to a low key laid back bar to marinate and libate on occasion. The bartender was a nice guy, kept us happy, although were easy to please as long as there is bourbon and beer within reach. The food was tasty, standard bar fare, burger was decent and the onion rings were beer battered crunchy nuggets of yum. I’ll be back, it’s a block and a half away so that’s a given. I want to give them five stars, and I will if the place can become my cheers and keep me beered. *Revised*: this place is cool, come here and buy drinks. Come here and tip massively. Come here and be nice.

I love the hutch. I love the people that frequent the joint. I love the bartenders. I love the prices. I love it during happy hour and karaōke and for Sunday fundays. This bar deserves a 5 star rating. The only reason I can’t give it a 5 star rating is the«comedy» that has recently taken over. This«comedy» hour would be fun and welcome except that it is in no way, shape, or form even remotely funny. It is crass, crude and offensive at best. To top it all off, those of us who are not in the least bit amused are quite put out because we have to shut up and wait, silently, for the torture to end and the more energetic and fun event of karaōke to begin. Don’t get me wrong. I love comedy. But it has to be funny. This is not funny and is an embarrassment to everything that actually is. I love you hutch, but this is too much. Please end this insanity.

Horrible Horrible service. I rode my bike there and wanted to start off with a glass of water before I started drinking alcohol. The bartender first told me to go get water from the station around the back, which is understandable. So I walked over and there wasn’t any glassware or cups. I went back over to let her know and she said well I can’t give you a glass, we only have so many and they are for drinks. So I asked my friend if I could borrow hers, and tossed her sprite in the garbage and by the time I went back for water, the pitchers were empty. So I went back up to the bartender again and she gave me attitude and filled my glass up with water. After wasting my time trying to get water, and taking 30 minutes of waiting in the bar line again, I was frustrated and left. I will probably never return to this place. And neither will the group I was with. bummer!

Our family has been going here for years. Always a great go-to. Service can be a little spotty. Sometimes they are so nice and sometimes stressed and rude. The karaōke DJ once completely embarrassed my friend, but maybe they are just sick of dealing with drunkards and have very little patience with everyone(even if you aren’t acting like a drunkard!). :) All in all, it will always be our reliable dive.

The Hutch is a decent dive bar, but not something I’d consider a «destination» if you live more than a few blocks away. They have pool and games set up in the back, and it’s a fun spot for karaōke(I think on Thursdays, if I remember correctly), though the KJ is hit-or-miss in the truest sense: there are two guys who rotate, and one is fantastic while the other is atrocious. Drinks/beers are reasonably priced, and they have a couple picnic tables out front for smokers. Basically, a neighborhood watering hole.

I previously reviewed this place as not great but not horrible. I am now updating. I hope everyone reads this and is WARNED! I shall start at the beginning. We went into the hutch the other night(we meaning me and my husband). We both got an ipa and told the waitress we wanted an order of chicken strips(late night comes with 3) with honey mustard. When at the bar she asked for my card, i did warn her that we would be paying in CASH and my card doesn’t like to run very well so don’t run it, She brought our food as we played a game of pool of which my hubby won. We decided on a second beer, both ipa’s(Yes this is how well I remember the night.) 2 older ladies my hubby had meet a previous night without me walked in to play video poker. We joined and played 5 dollars each while talking to the nice old ladies(1 of which was in town because of her granddaughter being in a coma). They were telling us how they were to leave town the next day. My man handed me 2 more dollars and we played that. As i was finishing my beer i handed my husband our money bag to go pay. We had agreed on a 3 dollar tip. I sat with the ladies and talked until he was back and we left. Now here comes the problems… I didn’t get my card back. This has happened a few times here because i pay cash and i get it back later. Tonight we went to redbox and i realized i didn’t have my card… I called and asked if my card was there and the lady on the phone used a very rude tone to inform me it was. Ok great. I walked down to pick up my card and found out not only did she run it after already getting paid, but she tipped herself too. Wouldn’t it be great to get paid twice AND tipped twice??? AND have the second tip even bigger than the first??? When we said sorry but we paid cash she straight up called us liars. I don’t know who thinks that is proper customer service, but i don’t. I ask the owner is this good for you? do you like losing long term customers over your waitresses double charging? I know for a FACT we paid cash and i am willing to bet the camera’s on the till would agree with me. I will NOT support any business that behaves this way. I do hope you fire that lady(was working tonight 5÷4÷139:30ish) and you re look at your staff. If you wish i invite you to respond to me here on Unilocal there is an option for a business to respond. please do. I’m sorry but i really suggest NOONE go here or give them any money for such rude and bad service. Sham on them.

I have been here a few times, each time thinking«maybe the bartender is just having a bad day». Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice… well, you get my point. And then after tonight, learning that their happy hour hours were«bar time» according to that same bartender, I won’t be back. In other words, don’t expect to be able to order anything during happy hour, at happy hour prices, 15 minutes before their happy hour is over. Moral of the story — don’t be fooled — the posted happy hour times of 4−7pm are misleading. And the service is awful.

Not a bad little spot to grab a few drinks and play some shuffle board. Slightly divey and certainly not a large bar but decent none the less. Upon walking in you’re greeted by a large wooden bar, daily specials plastered all over the chalk board, tons of video poker, and a small staff ready to serve you a drink. Daily beer special is only $ 3/pint and is typically from a local brew pub. They serve food here although I have yet to try it out. Everything is reasonably priced and there are plenty of choices to wet your whistle. Neighborhood crowd for sure and certainly not very busy during the week. Did I see they had house infused liquor or was I imagining this? PROS: They have Karaōke on the weekend, daily specials, shuffle board CONS: Small bar

I love this place. I only go for karaōke because I love the KJ Sean Bailey. He and the bartenders are always on top of it and I have never had a problem. They have a good happy hour menu and regular menu, great drinks, lots of fun activities(shuffle board being my favorite aside from karaōke) and a fun atmosphere. The fact it is in a convenient location for me is a bonus.

Went here for karaōke and a drink on a Saturday night with a few of my friends. The KJ(that’s what you call a karaōke DJ, right???) was the nicest person ever. She was super sweet — wish I got her name so that I could mention it here. I don’t know if things were slow just the night we went or that’s the norm for a Saturday night, but my friends and I got to sing pretty much as much as we wanted. Pretty good variety of songs too. My drink was fine. Nothing to write home about, but the ‘tender certainly didn’t skimp on the booze. So… good for him on that one. The crowd was… well, fine, I guess. Very laid-back, comfortable, maybe hadn’t showered yet that day… No one caused trouble and that’s the best you can ask for some days. No need to dress up for this place. This place is what I imagine when I think of a «nice» dive bar without biker gangs or anything else that intimidates me. Overall a pretty good experience although other than the BEST, most nice-ist KJ in the world, not a lot stood out to me about the place. I would go back if I was in the area and happened to be walking by with friends who wanted a drink or some singing.

Friday nights when you’re a married, childless thirty-something couple are a little weird. We still like to get out and mix it up, but the days of standing cheek to cheek with 500 wasted friends until 3 in the morning is a little less appealing. On the flip side, nothing sucks worse than sitting in a quiet dive listening to the regulars’ liver fail. We hit the Hutch on a warm April night, and I think we’ve got a winner. The crowd was totally neighborhood, and the vibe was completely relaxed. Lots of beers, liquor, pool and shuffleboard. Plus, there were five or six TVs all tuned to the Blazers game. The lighting is a little bright, but I didn’t mind, although my wife did(in retrospect, she probably didn’t so much mind. She totally busted me checking out a passing butt. Damn lighting.) The crowd was a diverse bunch, ranging from mid twenties to early fifties. There were some beautiful people(see above: butt), and some regular Joes like me, but no scraggly alcoholic regulars. The music was at the perfect level for conversation, and the service was just the right blend of quick and cool. I’ll definitely be back… and Honey, I promise I won’t look at any butts but yours.
