The Modern Man

What can I say but my son had one of those horrible haircut experiences. We asked them to cut off an inch from his long hair and they nearly shaved his head.
Meanwhile, other barbers made fun of him as he sat there almost crying. The barber also kept snapping at him to stay still and looking annoyed saying he only had 15 minutes to do this. We were told they were kid friendly, obviously not.
NEVER BRING A KID THERE! I’M BOYCOTTING IT AND SUGGEST YOU DO TO. It’s all about being a hipster and cool. … you can be a hipster without making fun of little kids.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by David for the last 6 months and I couldn’t be happier. I love the atmosphere and the hair cuts have all been top notch. David knows the look I’m going for and nails it every time. I have never had any issues with scheduling. All my appointments have either been on time or ahead of schedule.

Since the ownership change things have slid. Very different atmosphere than the other dozen plus times I’ve been. When I pay $ 30 for a shave I expect there not to be patches of hair left on my face!
This was the downtown location.

Friendly reception, complimentary beer or whiskey and a bright sunny space invites you in for what you really came for — a good lookin’ cut and style. Kristin delivers with very clean trimmer and scissor skills and knows when to leave length where you need it. You can also trust in her to nicely shape up your beard to fit the new do if you’ve got one that needs tending to. The whole team really excels at how to make a guy (or lady) feel comfortable walking in and leave looking sharp. Overall the value for a barber can’t be beat, especially for downtown!

I set up a haircut with David today and received an excellent haircut. The place has a great style, and having some nice bourbon alongside the haircut made for a great experience. Would definitely go again.

So Modern Man has been through some ups and downs lately but I just got my haircut from David who is running this place currently and he does a phenomenal job. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back and get my haircut again from him as he has cut my hair a few times and always been good company and cut my hair just the way I like it.
Both him and his wife who are in there are super nice and accommodating.
Make sure you call ahead by a day or so because they are booked up solid. That’s always a good indication that they are doing something right.

I scheduled an appointment for Thursday afternoon and took off work early and drove 20 minutes to get there, only to have someone tell me that the barber who was scheduled to cut my hair quit. No phone call, no effort to make it up to me. The most they could do was give me another appointment 2 hours later. I don’t know about other people, but my time is precious to me, and I won’t be returning to the Modern Man. Too bad, I was looking forward to actually reviewing a haircut.

They canceled my appointment 8 minutes after the scheduled slot and refused to work me back in the same day. One star for being inflexible given the price tag. Value isn’t there.

First time at Modern Man, after it was recommended by a few of my guy friends I work with. It’s hard to find someone who can do some really good fading nowadays. I was helped by David who gave me an awesome haircut, was polite, and had some mad skills. I even overheard him give some advice to a customer who couldn’t wait because they were on a time crunch, and he informed them of another place nearby who may not have as long of a wait. Excellent customer service! Next time you need a cut, come here and ask for David!

This is a great barbershop. The staff are friendly and know their craft well. You get free beer, soda, or whisky with your cut, and there’s a relaxed atmosphere. I’m glad modern man opened a westside location. And this shop lives up to the high standard the other shops have set.

Best barbershop I’ve ever been in. They give you a shot of local liquor from East Side Distilling, they give shoe shines while you wait, and they sell nice cigars for $ 2
On top of that, they can cut hair like no other.

This is the second Modern Man I’ve been to. It has a late 50s — early 60s style. Very nice. I was warmly welcomed and as expected given a great Burnside Bourbon. Very tasty for sure!
My favorite barber, David, recently moved to this shop from the Modern Man Montvilla. I can’t recommend him enough. I’ve been going to him for years. He is careful yet quick! He always make look as good as possible for me to look! There are several other barbers on the team if David is busy. Appointments are available, some at the last minute.
Not too far from the Max line so you don’t have to park which could be difficult during the day. However there are a number of parking lots and garages around.
Definitely you should check it out.

Probably the worst haircut I’ve ever had in my life was here. Friendly staff, but the person that chopped my hair off was so bad I could never recommend this place. I showed him what I wanted and he didn’t come close. Ended up not having to pay for the cut but that didn’t help the scar this place left on me.
