Granola is my new obsession. And while it’s touted as being healthy — my obsession isn’t so much so. I can devour a bag easily in under an hour. No matter how big the bag is. It’s like eating a crumbled up cookie. The balance of salty, sweet, and crunch — just gets me. Each time. I was trying to be good today and stay away from the granola section at Bi-Rite — but my eyes just happened to land on Tracy’s Small Batch Savory Granola. Done. I picked up the bag and read the ingredients. All Jessica approved. As soon as I got home — I tore into the package. Each bite was full of flavor and robust freshness. I read the package a little bit more closely and was overjoyed to learn that they give 100 percent — yes 100 percent of their profits to Urban Gleaners — — which is a small, Portland-based organization that picks up edible, surplus food from grocery stores, farmers markets, farms, restaurants, and event sites and delivers it to local agencies that feed the hungry. So what’s up!!! So having just finished the WHOLE bag of savory granola — I just don’t feel so bad anymore. My stomach is full and hopefully in the process — it enabled some other wonderful people — to be fed as well — thanks to the awesome and manifested loveliness of Tracy’s Small Batch Granola and their partnership with Urban Gleaners. Trust.
