A bit laughable that this counts as Thai food. This restaurant wouldn’t stand a chance in a more close-in area. I don’t venture to NOPO much, but here’s what we got: Pineapple fried rice: the vegetables look straight out of a frozen food family pack. Beef spicy salad: not spicy, very fatty beef Pad kee mao: this one was actually good enough and probably 4 star. With so many good Thai places in Portland, why come here? Check the photos

Assholes. I called multiple times to place a pick up order, the person on the other line continued to pretend to not hear me once I said I wanted to place an order for pick up. They did the same thing when i even tried calling from a different phone.. . not cool.

I love Tuk Tuk. It’s the best Thai food I have had in Portland. I generally go with the Pineapple fried rice and fresh rolls.

When you live in University Park /St. Johns you simply cannot be a Thai food snob. You take what you get and you like it. One could frown upon Tuk Tuk, perhaps the quality is iffy, and the pizzazz is not 100%. If this was any other town, they might receive a «B on the health rating, at best. That«B» is for better. My pad see ew always comes filled to the to-go box brim with comforting noodles and veggies. The salad rolls are what you want and expect. The pad thai is nothing crazy delicious but it gets the job done. The prices are right. The food is quickly made. You have leftovers tomorrow. It was easy to park to pick up your food. Your thai hankering is satisfied. Hot tip: If you don’t ask for any kind of heat, expect a little blandness. That’s what the red stuff at home is for, though.

This place is great. Fresh, with many options. One of the only Thai places I’ve been to that serves octopus as one of the seafood options. A little bit on the pricier side, depending on what you’re getting. Great service, friendly staff, full bar.

Really did NOT enjoy the pad kee mao or the appetizers we had. Very bland and odd ingredients and slippery texture.

I have been here twice. The first visit wasn’t very impressive. The food was average & the service was slow. I ate there again last night & the experience was the same as the first visit. There was only one other group of people eating when we arrived. No one came in while we were there. The waitress didn’t check on us after she served the food. I had to go to the counter to get the check. I can see why they have so few customers.

I had the lemongrass chicken with peanut sauce and it was a little bland but it was still good. Service was friendly and quick for my to go order. I will have to eat inside at some point and peruse the menu a bit more.

Very kind woman waited on us. She was patient and attentive and took a big liking to my 2 year old son. He got a good vibe from her as well! The food was quick and on point. The Spring rolls were simple and soo delicious, the filling was an array of veggies with plain olé cracked pepper. They were fried to perfection and at the right temp due to the face there was no grease left on my fingers after I woofed it down! My husband got the sizzling string beans which had a delicious and savory sauce lightly dressing them. I had chicken Pad Thai and I must say it was delicious… well balanced and heavily sauced(just how I like it). But I must say the service was excellent. It just made me sad that they were empty on a Friday evening.

Let me start off by saying that I LOVE certain Thai food items! I first visited Tuk Tuk randomly about a year and a half ago and I fell in love with the flavor of their stir fries. You choose your meat and which stir fry option you want(I always get the cashew shrimp). The flavor is spot on and I’ve been back many many times since then. I don’t care for their tea and it sucks that the only drink I like there(cranberry juice) doesn’t have a refill. I’ve took quite a few people here and they’ve also enjoyed it. I like that it’s never packed in here but I HATE the location. When I open my restaurant I will definitely be in a location where my customers can park without walking around the corner. The same waiter has been here since I first came and he’s kind and somewhat attentive. I wouldn’t say this is the best I’ve had in Portland but it’s definitely good and I will be back randomly whenever I go to the north side. Happy Unilocaling…

We decided to give this place a shot. The food was good, however the service wasn’t. The waitress was extremely rude.

This little spot is perfect for a dinner date or take away on a Friday night. :) the staff here is really nice, I have a 1 year old that gets a little adventurous in public and she was very nice to him and let him see what was behind the counter and didn’t give me the«control your kid» vibe. Their spring rolls are so flakey and flavorful. If you love hot and sour soup, do yourself a big favor and get the Tom Kha, it’s made with coconut milk and has a good amount of yummy halved mushrooms! Yum!(You can have it made with scallops) ;)

I drive from SEPDX to this location because this is the best Thai food that I have ever had. The ingredients are fresh, the servings are large, and the price is great. So delicious. Highly recommend the green curry with squid, and the pad kee mao with scallop.

I had no problems with this place and neither did my partner. Had the salad rolls with peanut sauce to start and the pad Thai with tofu as my main — both were delicious! My pad Thai was definitely not soupy as someone else claimed and the Thai iced tea was awesome. The service here was good, was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. It seemed like our food was cooked in record time also, think we waited about 5 minutes before our main came out! It’s better than other Thai restaurants I’ve visited(admittedly mostly out in Beaverton) and I would probably come here again whenI’m next in this area.

Happy to see it right around the corner to where I’m staying! I walked in at lunchtime. Didn’t seem very busy and a few people eating a chatting. I could hear cooking noises coming from the kitchen and the cook poked her head out of the kitchen and smiled at me. I walked to the counter. The male waiter didn’t acknowledge my presence and walked past me in a hurry. I stood there and he came back and asked what I wanted. Uhhh I didn’t even have a chance to look at the menu(because I wasn’t given one) so I asked what was popular. His response: everything. That wasn’t helpful at all. It’s impossible that EVERYTHING is popular. I chose the pad se eew with pork. The portion was huge, the food was piping hot and fresh. So so good. Food is great, service was mediocre. Stop watching the tv and be a little helpful, please!

I waited a long time to try this place. There’s a limited amount of Thai options in N Portland so I’m sad that this place was a disappointment. My friend and I went on a Sat afternoon around 1. We were the only folks there. Allergies have been kicking my ass and I barely have a voice, so tea was definitely in order. It wasn’t very good. Leslie thought it looked and tasted like coffee — not quite but not too far off. Spring/thai rolls were very bland. Pad Thai — kind of not like any other pad thai I’ve had. Way too soupy. Chicken was overcooked. Small portion and simply not particularly good. Eggplant dish was equally bad — chicken overcooked, eggplant not cooked enough. Maybe it was a bad day…

This was pretty good Thai Food. Looks like nothing on the outside. Big portions! I stuck with a classic and got the fried rice. There were lots of veggies and a good amount of chicken. The chicken was a little dry though. The Thai iced tea was good! It was pretty empty when we were there, and my friend said that it normally is like that. If I have a chance to return soon I will and have the guts to try that flaming beef!

Tuk tuk more like yuck yuck. The pad Thai was red and tasted like ketchup. The pork was squishy like foam. The waitress was awful and the bathrooms were discussing with a flat iron in one and a bar of dove body soap in the other. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It is the worst Thai food I’ve ever had and I will never go back.

I’ve said it over and over and over again: Thai restaurants in the Pacific Northwest are a dime a dozen; this place is no exception. And it’s rough at best. I had a really hard time digesting the slop I was served here, particularly the unidentifiable protein that they try to pass as beef. I stopped in based exclusively on reviews, and because it is close to my workplace. I like to think I have a pretty good palate for Southeast Asian food, particularly Thai. Well, let me tell you my friends, this is not it. Absolute garbage, watered-down American style. I can’t blame Unilocal, because opinions vary, but there are no reputable ones that could ever label this place as 4 or 5 stars, let alone 3. Avoid at all costs.
