Okay service, a pickup truck that smelled like cigarettes and a $ 48 gas charge for returning the pickup with probably 4 less gallons in it then when I picked it up(picked it up full, returned it with well over ¾ full, 26 gallon tank)?! Fuck that. I have never heard of such an egregious charge for fuel. I rent cars often when I travel and I reasonably expect maybe $ 1 or $ 2 more than pump prices per gallon penalty for returning a car less than full. $ 48? Are you seriously kidding me? That was more than the total cost of rental! Maybe for a ½ tank. Not for less than ¼ tank. I can’t even comprehend how many hundreds of dollars a full tank would cost! Had I not done night drop I might have had time to say no to the extra charges and left to fill up the truck on my own(which would have cost no more than $ 20 max). Had I known the price, I would not have done night drop. Had I any inkling that it would be this ludicrous, I would have asked what the price was(since it’s not posted and it was not announced to me upon rental). But no. I made what I thought was a reasonable assumption. You know what they say about assumptions — they make an ass out of u and me. Guess what U-haul? U can haul yo’ ass straight off to hell. I know this review seems really harsh, but how would you feel? Getting charged a premium for convenience is one thing. Getting straight fleeced is another.

I’ve made online reservations with U-Haul and each time was directed to this store. The staff has always been cheerful and competent, the equipment just fine and ready to go, paperwork all set up for me. Online reservations are a great way to go, you just walk in, show license and credit card, sign on the dotted line, and they hook you up.
