Purchased a trailer hitch online through their website, one of their staff called me and told me the hitch was in stock and setup an appointment with me for a couple days later. But when I showed up for my appointment, I was then informed that the trailer hitch was not in stock. Was informed they must have sold the trailer hitch they had in stock and the ‘only thing they could do’ was call me when a new one got in.
Seriously? If you setup an appointment with someone you need to reserve that part. Or if you do sell it for unknown reasons, at least call the person that has an appointment so they don’t drive out there for nothing.

This is a great U-​haul location with fast and excellent customer service. Very professional and helpful. I would recommend to anyone.

Second time renting here yesterday. It becomes night so I go to lock the lock and realize they never gave me a key. The guy dropped one off at my house when he closed which is cool. But then I realized the reason the key was off the ring in the first place was because the lock had been cut. It’s after hours so I call and tell the operator my situation and she tells me there’s nothing they can do. Hooks me up with a number that tells me I have to log in to
for roadside assistance. I submit one and they tell me there’s nothing they can do except put my own lock on which I don’t have and can’t leave because I don’t have my car or a car seat to «GO BUY MY OWN LOCK!!!» So here I am watching my truck all night long having paid for shit customer service and equally shit work ethic.
Own up to your damn mistake and take care of your paying customers that are the reason you have a job in the first place.
If they say I should’ve checked the equipment first I’m gonna shove this broken lock up their ass and try to fit my size 12 boot up there as well.

Well everything looked great when we went to pick up our truck, our expectations were met with good customer service and we knew what was expected of us prior to returning the truck. We moved our stuff and returned the keys to the overnight drop box. We thought we got off easy and cheap with a 25 mile U-​haul move. Right? WRONG!
Fast forward to me checking my credit card bill. There was the expected $ 75 charge based on estimated mileage AND a charge for $ 85.03. I immediately called the store AKA was re-​routed to some corporate line where they told me I was charged extra because I drove the truck 120 miles, not the 25 that I had calculated by GPS. I addressed my complaint and they emailed someone to resolve it. The manager, Cody, called me back. He left me a voicemail saying he looked over everything (for quite a few hours), realized his staff issued me the wrong truck with different mileage, apologized about the mistake, and said he would refund me the money for 80 miles ($ 63.20). Well an 80 mile refund is great, but what about the other 15 miles ($ 21.83) that I didn’t drive? So I called back, Cody had just left for the day, and explained to the staff my frustration for being charged 15 miles I didn’t drive. The staff member I talked to said he was familiar with my situation as Cody had explained it to him. He said he wouldn’t be able to authorize an addition credit and I would need to speak with Cody.
Thus began the marathon of calls to reach Cody. I must have called 20 times. I called early as staff instructed that he came in early only to learn he wasn’t there that day or the phones were forwarded to the corporate answering service. Or I’d call later, because the answering service said «oh yeah they’re busy so they turned the phones to us. Try calling later.»
So a week or more went by and I finally got ahold of Cody. He said he remembered that he refunded my account. I explained my frustration about being charged 15 extra miles and then HE SEEMED FRUSTRATED WITH ME?! Wow. I explained to him that I wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of calling him if I wasn’t being honest about this and if I wasn’t on a very tight budget because of my move. He finally agreed to refund me an addition 10 miles, made an irritated sigh into the phone and we both hung up.
Well I’ve waiting for a few a weeks to give him time to live up to his word. But one month later I have received no additional refund. You try and give people the benefit of the doubt and not feel like you’re purposely being taken advantage of, but when situations like these happen it makes you wonder. So as if moving across country with your family and being unemployed isn’t financially, physically and emotionally stressful enough, just go to U-​Haul so they can hike up your bill and get upset with you for holding them accountable for their mistakes. Thanks for making a very stressful situation way more stressful! We just wanted to pay for a truck to get our belongings across town move from a shipping yard. NEVER AGAIN! I’ll be sure to dispute this with my credit card which I tried to avoid by contacting Cody. What a waste of time and energy.

I rent from this location ALL the time for work events and the service is always quick and easy! The staff is great, helpful, informative and it’s a fairly convenient location that you can easily get to from through streets or highway.

What exceptional service! Cody and his co-​workers were amazing with everything I needed, especially after U-​haul HDQ screwed up my overnight delivery. Highly recommend this place for all your storage or moving needs!

Was quite a relief after having a terrible time with UHaul customer service on the phone.

I moved to PDX from Boston. I shipped all my stuff to PDX and drove across country. I called this UHAUL while an hour out on the road. I drove straight to this location, picked a clean well working cargo van and was out the door within 10 minutes. My customer service experience was pleasant. I had the van overnight but for less than 24hrs. When I returned the van my customer service rep was very nice and extremely helpful. I was out in less than 20mins. I was worried about «mystery» charges based on what I read from previous reviewers, but all of my charges were the typical ones that you expect: $ 20 van rental, $ 10 insurance, $ 0.59 a mile. I would use this location again and recommend to a friend.

I made a reservation online. I requested this location cause it the closest to the Portland airport. We taxied from the airport, and our truck was ready for us. The truck was fairly clean. They didn’t clean the window or mirrors!!! But the rest of the truck was clean. The service was fast and friendly. They had the boxes and rope i ordered. It only took about 5 minutes to complete the paperwork. And we were on our way. The truck was new, only 8000 miles on it, which was NICE!!!

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE all the way around. My 19-​year old daughter (unbeknownst to me) rented a pickup truck from them to get a piece of furniture from a family member in Seattle. Not only did they add extra charges that I can’t figure out what they are for, but the truck broke down on I-​5. I had to go pick her up in the middle of nowhere on I-​5 and U-​Haul towed the truck. Now they are saying there is nothing wrong with the truck (it was very obviously broken down when my husband and I came to it) and, without permission, debited my daughter’s account for $ 300 for the tow. We had to put a block on her debit card.
Customer service has been extremely rude every time I have talked to them. I have actually had to ask people why they were yelling at me as I’ve been very calm and polite. When I initially called U-​Haul to discuss the situation, the agent said to me, «Well, what do you want me to do? It’s not my fault the truck broke down». Huh? Each agent I’ve talked to has started off with attitude from the moment they pick up the phone, no matter how polite I’ve been.
The equipment issue was with the fuel line. My daughter told me that she had just put gas in it about 15 minutes before she ran out. My husband and I showed up with a gas canister and when we went to fill the tank, I saw it come out of the line below the truck and right out onto the road. I immediately packed my daughter and everything she could fit into my car as it was an unsafe situation. We immediately called U-​Haul and their response was that they would take my information, process it, and call me back in 30 minutes to let us know if decide to tow it or not. I informed her that we are on the side of I-​5 at night, it’s not safe, and I’m taking my daughter home.
We are now taking them to small claims court. They rented her equipment that failed and are trying to charge her for it, plus tow charged which she is not responsible for. An awful situation by a bully of a company.

Why am I wasting your time with a review about renting trucks? Who cares about the quality of my cardboard boxes? Why is that section of the U-​Haul truck called Grandma’s Attic?
I don’t have these answers but I do have a bill with inflated charges on it that I have to call and bitch about. Your truck did the job but I have definitely experienced better.
