I have gone here for two years, and so has my husband. This place is on Broadway next to PSU (by Chipotle’s). The staff are very friendly and incredibly helpful. There is a good and updated selection. Great service. Tough parking around here, may want to Über.

THIS IS THE BEST PLACE EVER! Dr. Aker is amazing! He is great at what he does and is very personable and friendly. They have excellent customer service and do an exceptional job at meeting your needs. They also have a 40% off discount for students. I always send my classmates here and highly recommend this place to anyone!

There are lots of great frames to choose from. The prices are pretty reasonable. The people who work here got everything done really quickly and well. There are a bunch of wacky mini action figures. This place is awesome!

I am so happy with my glasses, they’re just what I wanted and it just feels SO good to be able to see again :)
I had my exam last Thursday and today, Wednesday, they were ready for pick-​up. I got a text that they were ready and headed down on my break. One of the girls had me try them on, answered any questions that I had and I left with a smile on my face — and STILL smiling :)

Visualeyes is by far the best optical clinic in PDX the service was amazing and perfect selection of brands that range in all styles and prices. I will definitely return and refer my friends and family to this shop.

I’ve been going here for over a year and have never experienced anything less than perfection! They have the most frames with the best quality and the highest level of customer service. Never did I feel pressured to buy anything that I didn’t need or want and the lovely ladies (shoutout to Natasha and Rida!) did an amazing job of helping me pick my frames out; all genuine in their opinions and catered to my every need. I’m so excited to get my new frames! I’m super picky with my prescription so I’m definitely coming back to this office, no matter where I move… If I could give this place more stars I would, they deserve nothing less than 5.

I usually just don’t feel strongly enough about services to write reviews one way or another, but the service here is legitimately some of the most incompetent I have ever received, and when I got an email reminding me to make my appointment with Visualeyes earlier today (given that it has been a year since my first amazing experience there), I was reminded of the sheer unadulterated loathing that I really wanted to put into words. I went to Visualeyes because I’m a PSU grad student and the price was right, but what ensued following my first appointment was a nearly six-​month ordeal. The first time I went in, Dr. Aker gave me a thorough examination and a new prescription. I got a nice discount on the frames and the lenses. When I returned for my glasses, my prescription turned out to be incorrect. The employees encouraged me to wear the glasses for at least a week to make sure my eyes had adjusted properly, but it still ended up being incorrect (which I knew in the first place). We did another examination, got it checked out, no sweat. However, this happened at least four times. Maybe five. Every time that I went in to pick up my glasses, the prescription was incorrect again, and every time the the prescription was incorrect, I was made to wait a torturous week before I came back in, and I would have to come back in and meet the skeptical face of the doctor who, every time I came in, forgot the issue I had been in with a measly two weeks before (no matter how many times it happened). Every subsequent time, the staff was friendly but vaguely condescending – I was genuinely made to feel like I was making up my issues, wrong about the problems I was encountering. They seriously made me wear incorrect prescriptions for weeks at a time. They just couldn’t get my prescription right. They couldn’t figure it out. And they did a terrible job explaining what about it was wrong too, didn’t ever bother to explain to me what was happening inside my own face. At one point, the doctor prescribed something that had no possible way of working on the off chance that it might??? It was like they were pulling solutions out of midair, taking their best guess, because they couldn’t figure my eyes out. But I had to wait for the solution, be disappointed time and time again, and in the meantime, my eyes were suffering. I’m an editor. I read tiny text for a living. Do you know what it’s like copyediting with an incorrect prescription for months at a time? I will give you a hint. IT IS PURE SUFFERING. The final prescription they gave me before I gave up on them altogether was so far off the mark, I honestly have no idea what was even going on in the doctor’s head. When I took the last pair of glasses he had given me to a different optometrist, he actually laughed at how far out of left field the prescription was. Using the frames that I had gotten at Visualeyes, I had another eye exam, and I was fitted with a working pair of glasses in three days flat. This new optometrist also recommended I get reading glasses, and you know what? Those worked perfectly too. Two working pairs of glasses in three days! My new optometrist hand-​cut the lenses in their offices instead of shipping them off to some impersonal factory to maybe get it right, so that should have been my first clue, I guess. My first appointment with Visualeyes was in March 2014. I didn’t get working glasses until December, and I certainly didn’t get them from Visualeyes. They unrepentently sucked up all my visual insurance for the year and wasted months of my life on headaches, and I should’ve given up on them a long time before I did, but I just didn’t have the money to burn elsewhere because I’m a poor grad student. I would not recommend Visualeyes to my worst enemy. I’m not saying they’re not genuinely friendly people, and I believe that they were genuinely baffled by their inability to help me. They didn’t mean me any ill will. And hey, their collection of frames is great! But holy goodness, do not. DO NOT. Trust your eye health to them.

I took my daughter to Visualeyes for an eye appointment this week.
I have to say that this place was great! The office itself was very clean and the customer service was top notch.
Both girls working the front desk were extremely friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome. I did not feel pressured to add anything to my bill. I was given available options but did not receive the unneccessary pushback from the staff at Visualeyes in comparison to places like Lenscrafters or Visualworks that overcharge and try to push unnecessary product onto you.

If you decide to return your eyeglasses, expecting the full refund, be warned that ONLY the cost of the frames, NOT lenses will be refunded. Lenscrafters and yes, even VisionWorks will refund the full amount.

The team at visual eyes were great! They were very informative, with up to date hardware to examine your eyes. I went in for a new prescription and was pleased with the service I received from the moment I walked in. Their glasses selection is great, mad they have a terminal where they can access even more frames from various brand catalogs. I look forward to my next visit when I’m in the market for contact lenses.

I didn’t have a good experience while being here. I came to here to make glasses, and the glass that i got turned out to be sliding down my nose. I came back for a couple of adjustments but the problem still exist. I was assured that I could change to other frames and just pay the amount of difference if my glass still kept falling down. I really like the frame but it didn’t work for me. It came to the point that I had to decide to change frame. However, they said I have to pay full price of the new frame regardless whatever the said to me earlier. I felt like i was being cheated. Never going back here again.

I have not had my eyes examined in years, and was completely impressed by my experience at Visualeyes. Dr. Aker was very helpful, extremely knowledgable, and made the entire process comfortable. He explained each step of the process, and also let me know exactly what each step would accomplish.
After Dr. Aker completed the thorough examination, I began to look for frames for my new prescription. Having never worn glasses before in my life, it was nice to have the help and support of the staff in providing numerous options, as well as opinions on different styles.
I would definitely recommend going to Visualeyes for your next eye exam, or even for a pair of sunglasses. They have a great selection, the staff is friendly and knowledgable, and I will definitely be back!

The customer service at Visualeyes is superb! The staff are professional, caring and accommodating. They carry a versatile selection of eyewear and very helpful in helping you chose the shades that suits you best. On the medical end, they have state of the art instruments, and are fully equipped with the best machinery. My experience has been amazing and I look forward to my next visit :)

Great experience at Visualeyes! Was there a couple of times checking out glasses and then purchasing a pair, and the few times I was in the staff was very attentive and helpful. They have a great selection of designer glasses as well.

I needed to renew my contact prescription and was trying to find something close to the PSU campus. This place is so much better than I expected. Dr. Aker is amazingly nice and friendly and I probably probably my best eye appointment ever. He was very attentive to my needs and explained everything to me that I needed to know. I highly recommend him for your next eye exam!

These dudes are awesome. Dr. Aker makes an eye exam actually kind of pleasant if that’s possible. Great staff, availability and killer frames!

Really great new optometrist in SW Portland. Great selection and prices on glasses and sunglasses. Professional attitudes with a hip outlook on life. Expect to leave with the best pair of eye glasses you could find for your face.
