I have gone to see Alison at Waking Life Wellness twice so far, both times to get support for my immune system — nothing severe, just to recover from a jam-packed travel schedule and to better deal with grass pollen or whatever is in the air right now. In the first session I had my first ever shiatsu treatment, and it was incredibly relaxing and also helped with tight neck and shoulders from airplane seats and computer work. I remember I slept great that night, and woke up with plenty of energy. In the second session Alison gave me a combination of shiatsu and acupuncture. I didn’t have any sinus congestion the rest of the day and the next, too. Alison is obviously very knowledgeable and good at what she does, and also easy to talk to and just very real. And she has a super gentle way of placing the needles.

I went in to Waking Life Wellness for a neck and shoulder injury that had occurred the week before. I felt pressure, pain, and discomfort in my shoulder and into my neck. I was unable to lift my left arm without considerable discomfort and my neck was aching all week. After a one-hour session, I felt much less pain and I had better mobility in my shoulder. I have had acupuncture several times in the past but it usually required more than one session to begin to feel any better. The office is bright and clean. Alison is calm and friendly and the whole experience was very relaxing. As an added bonus, Alison did a few minutes of Shiatsu acupressure massage on the problem spots.
