This place feels like home but better! Great place to check out art, enjoy a cup of joe, and chat with the staff and people who find their way into the place. Love it.

If you make a habit of opening doors, you might find yourself stepping into conversations like: «I’m not going to do that to my cat!» «Hey…,» I said, after a nod by the barista, «what are you guys talking about?» «We’re having this bizarre conversation…» (orders and receives a large cup of tea) «My cat is in heat, so when you touch it, its back slouches, and makes this noise somewhere between a purr and something awful» «So…,» a patron explains the conversations context, «if you tape a pencil to a chair when its in heat, it will… well… take care of its problem.» Oh and by the way… the coffee, food, and tea are great. The patrons and baristas are equally friendly. The shop is at capacity at 10 people. Bizarre, but in a 2 mile radius with about 20 coffee shops, this one is easily my favorite.

Since I moved to Portland I’ve had this itch. This itch for great coffee; an itch for great breakfast sandwiches that were quick easy and portable; and an itch for interesting conversation. My itch was finally scratched when I moved to my new apartment a few month ago and I discovered this gem that is Wired on Burnside. They scratched my itch sooo good.

I moved away from Portland(boo!) a few months ago and ran into this place when I was back for a visit(yay!). Everything I had — coffee, bagels, tuna melt — was delicious, and the owners(and patrons) were awesome. I was staying right around the corner, and I think we hit this place almost every day of our trip. The coffee’s the best in the neighborhood — much more consistent than any of the 21st Ave shops — and I don’t think the café food has a real competitor until you get all the way down to the boulangerie on Thurman, which is great but super-packed and kind of expensive. Anyway, this will be a new staple for me. Hurrah for New York expats in Portland!

Inexpensive, good coffee. Wifi. Friendly staff and regulars who will banter with you if you’re feeling like banter. A well-toasted bagel, and they don’t skimp on the cream cheese. The basics, all in one place, done well. Is this so hard? It’s rare these days. The sandwiches, btw, are Elephant-quality for half the price.

The best part about this place is it is right around the corner from my apartment. I’d give it 5 stars, but since it is so small seating can be tough if you are looking to stay for a while. They have free WiFi, great coffee, good prices and the friendliest staff in Portland. They are always down to help you out with the crossword or suggest a good band coming to town that weekend. The place is constantly buzzing with activity making it a great place to people watch. You’ll see a lot of the same people each day — this place definitely has its regulars — but that is part of the homey feel.

I don’t drink coffee, so what I’m looking for in a «coffee shop» is a place to sit without booze’s siren song, wifi and something else to drink. Wired is sooooo close. Seriously, it’s a 3.9 but it’s so small it can’t do it for me. I gave it 4 stars because it’s a sweet little place to lounge and do the crossword over a breakfast bagel like the dude in the armchair across the table from me is. They have Coke and Viso(which I didn’t know was from Portland) in addition to the coffee stuff.

Stopped by this great little coffee shop yesterday for a quick breakfast to go. What a lucky find! The people were really welcoming and treated us like regulars, and the bagel sandwiches were fantastic. I’m off to try to re-create the Laura’s Love tea, since I can’t just stop by and grab another one(yet!).

The owners are two out of the three workers. Some of the nicest people I’ve met. And they have my favorite coffee. Bitchin’

They have good coffee, decent bagels(which is a stapel of my diet, oddly enough, since I never really liked them before.) The barista’s and owners are super wonderful people. But truth be told, I live in the Wired block, and I am here ALL the time. Like a crazy person, that has way to much time on their hands. Wired will suck you up, and the hours will drift away; but everyone is friendly, and everything is good. While sometimes it’s easy to actually accomplish something, generally you’ll find yourself getting sucked up by the conversations before actually finishing writing your Unilocal review. It’s a small space, so easy to be distracted.

I lived right around the corner for all grad school, and this place went through so many owners. The couple that own it now are friendly and funny and have been there for a few years. This place is great for coffee and tasty grub(especially the curry chicken salad), on a marginal budget. They have a frequent buyer card, a computer for some email checking, and good conversation. Yep the space is small, and most of my ventures were for food to go. But they always knew my name and there were plenty of smiles. The 4 stars are for the heart of the place, gotta respect this funky spot.

Wired packs a lot of options for such a tiny location! Definitely a spot for locals, this homey coffee shop offers not only a cure for your caffeine headache, but bagels, sandwiches, pastries, and blended goodies(think milk shakes, smoothies and Italian sodas). The atmosphere is like that of a youth hostel: close quarters, a collection of hand-me-down furniture, a computer in the corner for guests to surf the Internet, and a musical selection that revolved around indie rock. While comfortable, I docked a couple of stars for the size — I was sitting at one of two tables, and I felt bad monopolizing ½ of the available seating. While the décor reminded me of nights at the Flying Pig in Amsterdam, the true«Youth Hostel» spirit emerged with the inviting nature of the staff and regulars. The barista Michael was so friendly and helpful — this is a great place to stop in, say hello, and grab a cup of joe to go. OH — and Wired gets an extra bonus for the«Laura Love Tea» which is a delight beyond delights(with a fantastic name)! The owner’s name is Laura, and the chalkboard menu is covered with her personal concoctions!

Wired is pretty neat, it’s tiny but homey and full of regulars who know each other well but are still fairly inviting.
