Such a hidden gem
Just learned of them from Portland Monthly and I’m so happy I went! Affordable Accupunture $ 15 – 35 per treatment. The great thing is you can stay as long as you want! They recommend at least 30 mins but say some people stay for 2+ hours. It’s not fancy but is very warm and inviting. It’s a communal space with about 20 recliners. It is soooo much more comfortable to have Accupunture in the comfort of a Lazy Boy than a hard table. I highly recommend you bring your favorite playlist and headphones. Several people were snoring but it was somehow soothing and I couldn’t hear once I put my headphones on. Wear comfy clothes that you can pull up to your knees and elbows.

The restrooms are next to the greeting area. This business management posts sign at the door to reminder customers to refrain from using scent products. However, the same management put air freshener scent chemical spray for anyone to use in bathroom and greeting area. The spray chemicals circulate all over the house, including the treatment areas. One male employee frequently uses the spray. The spray chemical affect human central nervous system; but the management said it would continue to use the chemicals in this location.

affordable acupuncture in open community space. sliding scale $ 15 – 35. Sometimes they offer a punch card for multi visits and if you pay in advance it will save you a couple of bucks per visit and check in time. I’ve gone 3 times in one week to address a pesky dry cough and achy left shoulder.
1^st visit will require a $ 10, 15 minutes intake of your general health concerns w practitioner. WCA may be difficult for someone w no acupuncture experience as acupuncture generally takes some getting use to. But if you are cool w sharing your space with others, (you’ll all receive services while in comfy lazyboy like recliners), you’ll fit in nicely.
i am very happy to have found WCA and would recommend them to anyone who is looking for affordable alternative health services. The Hillsdale location has a calm, super chill energy; this is where I go.

I had my first session yesterday and I loved it. I was treated by Ben and he was so nice and easy going. I actually had a headache all week and he was able to clear it with the first needle. I look forward to more visits with Working Class Acupuncture.

This is a specified review to this location — I love WCA and the NE location, but when I went to this one it was not a particularly pleasant experience. It had an overwhelming bad odor and it was not the cleanest of places. The restroom was filthy. Staff wasn’t rude but wasn’t friendly. The acupuncturist himself made me kind of uncomfortable, from his attitude to his needle placement (it hurt more than I’m used to), and I just didn’t care for this location. I still highly recommend WCA in general though, and if you go to this location and have a similar experience, there are others in Portland so don’t give up!

Ben is the man! I visited WCA in September and he treated me. I returned about 2.5 months later and recognized me, making me feel like I wasn’t just another person. Since then, I’ve seen him once a week. He hits all the right points, has a gentle and caring demeanor, and just a lovely human.

Sure, today was my first visit, but I just had to reach out and write a review! Ben was my acupuncturist today and I felt so well taken care of. I came in feeling a bit nervous and didn’t know what to expect but everything went smoothly and I felt as if all of my questions were answered. If you’ve been a bit hesitant about trying acupuncture out, and are looking for affordable wellness, check this place out as soon as you can!

Love this place. Love they don’t charge you $$$ like other acupuncture places. Love they don’t bother (or check on) you every 5min, love they don’t kick you out (well, not literally, but you know) after 45min. At WCA, you’re encouraged to stay how long ever you feel like — they call it «Acu-​nap».
Despite my innate fear of needles, I came to this place 3−4yrs ago after suffering from repeated tennis elbows on both elbows with a lot of pain for years. I came 1−2times a week although it’s quite a way from my house. After 5 – 6 months, I was finally doing stuff with my arms (brushing teeth!) without pain!
Darren came to Hillsdale location last year. He is GOOD. Ok, I admit that I no longer want to show him my tongue when he asks me to. Apparently my tongue reveals too much (grrr) — I’d just tell him «my shoulders hurt», then he’d ask me to show him my tongue. I stick my tongue out for 2 seconds, he looks at it, then tells me about the stress, some digestive issues, etc etc etc. So now I react very maturely with «no way, you’re not looking at my tongue» :-p

Been here four times, and getting set for my 5^th acupuncture session tomorrow. Daren was the first acupuncturist I saw, and he did my intake. I’ve been wanting to try acupuncture for awhile and because of the loss of my son, I really need it now. Daren was compassionate, understanding and warm while also being professional and competent. I’ve seen Joseph once, and he also set me at ease. In fact, all of the staff at WCA are great… kind and welcoming. I like the group setting; it doesn’t feel at all strange or intrusive. It’s relaxing and you will feel respected and well cared for.

Darren is exceptional. A really skilled healer and compassionate listener. If he moves on from WCA at some point, I’ll be following him around like a new puppy.

I was recommended to this place from a person in my cancer support group. I wanted to try accunpuncture to help heal my joint pain from the chemo side effects, plus anxiety, weakness, and nausea. It’s a community environment vs. the one-​on-​one in other clinics, and I don’t mind at all! It’s relaxing, and I can easily get comfortable, relax and sleep for at least the 45 mins. All the acupuncturists at this location are great, and I love the fact that they are literally open every day (even holidays!) and have great hours to fit with my schedule! It’s economical especially if you have an insurance plan that only pays a certain amount of treatments per year, this place is an excellent option. I would highly recommend them, and I tell all my friends and family about this place! So glad I decided to try it

What is to say that has not been said? This place is amazing. WCA on Beaverton Hillsdale is the only place I have ever had acupuncture. After hearing folks tell me how great it was I decided to give it a try. After several months and over 10 trips here I can say it is the real thing.
Joesph performed my intake months back. He is wonderfully disarming and after a quick but thorough discussion on what to expect & what you want to get out of the experience you head on back to pick your choice of comfortable recliners.
Joesph has helped me with multiple issues from cough/​allergies, back pain & even anxiety/​stress. Best of all, WCA offers an answer to affordable health care to the average person.

VEry good service and excellent staff. I was cured in one month of chronic fatigue. Wow! Acupuncture is beneficial to everyone. Joseph listens and seems to intuitively know what is best procedure for that particular session. I will always include acupuncture in my life.

Going in once a week really helped subdue the allergy symptoms I have during allergy season. Can I say its like magic? Its so relaxing– So great for stress relief. I love the relaxed atmosphere and the group setting is cool. I’ve told all my friends and have sent my daughters. We all need accuputure!

I have been looking for an affordable acupuncture place, today I had time and thought I would drop in. I was worked into their schedule quickly, recieved treatment and was relieved of my most immediate concern. The relaxation space was great. It isn’t one big room but a few smaller rooms with 4 – 5 chairs in each room, warm and relaxing.

Today was my first visit to WCA, and I was so relieved to have found this place. From the moment I walked in the door, I was put at ease. I feel better than I have in months, and I am looking forward to ongoing care from these kind and wonderful people.

I’ve had acupuncture at a few different places with practitioners of various skill. Since I’ve started going to WCA, I can’t imagine going anywhere else. I thought I might be turned off by the community setting (everyone sits in a large room) but it hasn’t been a problem at all.
I’ve seen a few practitioners at WCA and all of them have been stellar, very professional, friendly, approachable, and skilled. What I like the most is that you get quality treatment with no pressure to leave like in a private session — the length of your treatment is up to you. I typically walk in, pick a comfy recliner, get poked, fall asleep for 1 or 1 ½ hours, wake up and get the needles removed. I also love the music they play (like a chimey-​gong type thing).
Please support this amazing community provider. They do amazing work.

I can’t speak highly enough of Working Class Acupuncture. I’ve held off on writing a review of this place for a while because I felt my impressions might have been a bit biased. My dear friend Gabe is a recent graduate of the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, and she did her internship at WCA and sung its praises, so I thought my experiences at WCA might have been tainted (in a very positive way) by Gabe’s perspective. But having gone to both the Cully clinic (on NE 57^th Ave) and now to the fairly-​new Hillsdale clinic several times, I feel like I can write from my heart about what an amazing place this is.
The Hillsdale clinic is in a modest building on busy Beaverton-​Hillsdale Highway, but great care has been taken in its remodeling to foster the sense of calm and tranquility that is also present in the Cully clinic. There is a small reception area where new patients can complete their medical history forms. I really respect the sliding scale format for payment ($ 15-​$ 35, with Visa/​MC accepted — always a plus for me) and the fact that all payment is completed in advance of the treatment. WCA feels, and I definitely agree, that it kind of shatters the mood of the treatment if you need to get out the ol’ wallet and cough up money after having a wonderful, meditative acupuncture session.
Once payment is complete (at your own financial comfort level), you enter the treatment room area, which is a couple of open, adjoining rooms filled with the most deeply comfortable easy chairs. The rooms have slightly different vibes to them, and I just let myself gravitate toward whichever chair seems to be calling me that day. It sounds weird, but once you go, you’ll know what I mean. I’ve tended to like the larger room toward the back, as I really enjoy the feeling of shared energy from having others in the room with me.
I usually try to wear shorts and a short-​sleeved shirt to allow easy access to my arms and legs for the acupuncturist, but that’s definitely not necessary… you just need to roll up your pant legs. I slip off my shoes and socks and settle into the comfy chair. Then Gabe comes over and asks if I have any specific treatment needs for that day. When I first started my treatments, I just specified «general wellness» for my goal, but after a few sessions I was able to get more focused. I have a lot of digestive issues, and Gabe has been able to tap into this with some of our recent sessions… there are some points along the feet and legs that directly deal with digestion, and I could actually feel things stirring up when the needles were placed along these points.
I also love the sensation of deep relaxation and meditation that I have felt when going for acupuncture treatments. I nearly always fall asleep during the session, and though the sleep itself is not deep, my breathing and pulse slow down big time, so that each breath and heartbeat feel powerful and satisfying. Again, another one of those experiences that’s a bit hard to articulate but is very powerful.
Appointments are recommended (you can book on-​line if you are a current patient), but they do accept walk-​ins as well if you get a sudden urge to go. When you go, ask for Gabe and she will take care of your body and well-​being. :-)
