Great tapas restaurant in Portsmouth. I have never had any bad food in this town and this is one of the best! We loves the kale chips and corn bread. It’s a little pricy, but worth the money.

Moxy was a mixed bag, like one of those friends who is super smart, but cannot hold down a job. The décor is hip and portends great things, but it didn’t quite deliver on all the promise. This is not to say that it was all bad. The beer list was quite good and the general Berry’s chicken sandwich was the star of the night. Our table had mixed reviews of the fried pickle chips, they were presented well, thick cut, and served with two dipping sauces. They’re not my thing, but if they are yours, you should give them a try. The moxy bread was like bruschetta and quite good. I would recommend those.

I’m giving Moxy three stars. I’m doing so in part because my grapefruit cocktail was quite yummy. Otherwise, the tapas were way over priced. Moxy is definitely not worth the hype it has received. $ 9 bucks for one teeeeeeny tiny Christmas sausage? No. Just no. Tapas should be shared with friends over an evening of conversation and simple, satisfying plates. Tapas should not result in a shame inducing experience amongst mates because the portions are meant for one toddler. Sadly, our sever was not the most pleasant either. She deigned to serve us… The drinks were fun, as I said. Quality and flavor of the plates were on point and the variety was decent, as well. Maybe that’s what bumps my review up to the three stars. Just don’t plan on feeling satisfied… I’m from Providence; safely one of the country’s best culinary cities and Moxy would have to step up its game to last here… After spending a very pretty penny, we went out to really eat…

This was the best food we’ve had in a long time! Everything was delicious, even the dishes that had ingredients I typically don’t like(ie bleu cheese) were amazing. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were helpful and friendly but not rushing us in the least bit. I’ll definitely be back!

Not impressed. The wife and I were excited about a date night in Portsmouth and made reservations at Moxy during restaurant week. We tried a total of eight different dishes, and they were all too salty. We killed a liter of water by the time we were halfway through the meal. Our waitress seemed a bit put out that we were there to dine, so we paid and left as soon as we were done. Two of the dishes were removed from the table almost untouched because of the saltiness and our waitress could not care less. We had high hopes for this place because of a few word of mouth recommendations, but were sorely disappointed. The location is great and the décor is pleasant, but the food was too salty and the plating a bit odd. We will not be back.

There’s nothing I love more than sharing food with people. Well, except sharing REALLY good food. The must haves: lacquered pork belly bites(kept reordering these because they were so good!) and the marmalade beef short ribs. Feeling thirsty after this? Problem is solved with their flight of beers. The Peary Very Much Whisky Cocktail truly soothed the soul. It’s incredibly tasty and everything they dished out were cooked to your hearts desire. Coming from Boston, I think I need to take another drive up just for dinner.

Another great meal at Moxy. The lacquered pork belly bites are delicious. Had 2 serving of the pork belly’s and the NN grilled goat loin. I have yet to regret any food I order here. I would suggest when you go trying at least 4 different thing when eating here.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Everything tasted really good –short rib marmaladae, chicken sandwich, camembert, etc. They also have really interesting drinks with locally sourced liquor.

Fun little place with big flavors! Had a fantastic time here with a friend. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and a couple of their recommended tapas — Lacquered Pork Belly Bites and Beef Short Rib Marmalade. Both were delicious and artistically assembled! Food: The pork belly was unbelievably tender with a light crisp on the outside. The beef short ribs was so good that I am now on a mission to hunt down the recipe! Drinks: The bartenders were very friendly and inviting. They made us delicious custom drinks that I will for sure to order again the next I’m there. Overall: Love love love!

Ask my friends, rarely am I at a loss for words, ever! Ethan was our server. I can not say enough about just how fantastic his expertise of the menu items and knowledge of items sourcing! He is a true foodies delight. The food is spectacular ! The goat meatloaf, johnnycakes w pork shoulder, beets w feta and arugula pisteo, roasted sunflower blossoms and warm white bean with bread to die for. Just a gorgeous offering served by thoughtful and mindful serving. I will be driving 2+ hours for another experience !

Great spot with great food. Clean, nice vibe and staff was professional and knowledgeable. Each dish was explained when it was served. The small-plate theme is cool to try different things. The food was truly excellent and the only complaint was the pitcher of sangria that I thought was overpriced. Other than that, I look forward to a return visit when back in town. We got 6 items for two which was perfect.

I really liked this restaurant! The tapas style made it enjoyable because you could try a bunch of dishes without getting too full. I especially enjoyed the bone marrow dish. That was probably my favorite :) I also enjoyed the white fish dish, but mostly because the mushrooms on it were really good. And I liked the goat meatloaf as well. I would definitely recommend this place!

So many delicious combinations. Their signature drinks were fantastically crafted. Enjoyed everything that was ordered and with an unlimited budget so many more options to choose!

This is really a fantastic restaurant! Tapas-style dining is quite unique in that each person orders 3 – 5 items(as suggested by our waitress) and shares the miniature plates amongst themselves. My fiancée and I went and enjoyed 8 masterfully-prepared dishes. The dishes are unique and fun, and you aren’t afraid to experiment with some of the weirder ones because you know you have a few other dishes to eat if you don’t like it! I tried bone marrow with a sherry«bone luge»… it was very strange, but quite tasty and a lot of fun to eat! The service was great as well. We ordered all of our dishes at once, and there were no gaps and/or overlaps between when each of our dishes arrived at the table. I don’t know how they do it, but they manage to keep you constantly eating without crowding your table with a ton of dishes at once. Overall a really great experience and, although it’s a little bit pricey, I will definitely be back.

Had an excellent night here with a friend. I think we parked ourselves at the bar for 4 hours. The bartender was awesome he made me a custom whiskey drink that I loved and i proceeded to drink many of them. We had a couple of the share able plates and the mini whoopie pies for desert. Everything was good but those whoopie pies were so freaking good. If I am back in town I will be back to Moxy’s!

Bf and I were celebrating our anniversary and had planned on having dinner at Cava. Unfortunately we missed our chance at a reservation and they weren’t able to get us a table until about 930pm. We called moxy(around 8pm) and they said they could hold 2 seats at the bar if we arrived in the next 15 minutes. We arrived to a very busy bar area with our two seats wide open, yay! He ordered one of the beers on tap while I had the«whisk me away» which had the perfect grapefruit tang and was very lightly sweetened. We settled on sharing 4 tapas plus dessert, as we had a big lunch and weren’t too starving. The fried pickles were very large slices, but only came with 6. For $ 5 they could’ve given a few more, though they were really tasty. The mussels were fantastic. I loved the big pieces of bacon and the broth was delicious. We definitely could’ve used some more bread to soak it up! The mini hot dogs boasted a bacon-Fresno marmalade which wasn’t too evident, but they were cute as can be and really good regardless. The Johnny cake community was a great last dish, and we enjoyed putting our«wraps» together. The sauces were really well made and I loved the homemade pickles as well. We ended with the whoopie pie sliders which were so worth being a little too full. 3 sliders between us with a rich chocolate sauce ended our meal perfectly. Service at the bar was really good, and attentive for the most part. There were a couple mix ups on where dishes were being delivered, but overall we had a really good experience. I’d definitely like to pop back in and try the«fab 5» and some of the other cocktails!

I’m dismayed to be writing a 2 star review for moxy. We had high hopes after reading the other reviews. But we had a pretty awful culinary experience. We sat at the bar which was fine, though the bartender was a little too hip and blasé. We ordered the following: –Crispy potatoes which were small crispy wedges served with tomato compote and a mayonnaisy sauce(not good enough to be called an aioli). This was a B. –The signature tapas, the short ribs on toast with blue cheese and pickled onions. Hearty and quite good. A– –Felafel tots. Three flavorless felafel balls served with an aggressively awful citrusy sauce. F –Bok choy, served with pickled onions(apparently a fave condiment at Moxy). Not good or bad, a non-dish. B –Monk fish, lukewarm and rubbery with undercooked butternut squash and chanterelle mushrooms encrusted with way too much salt. C We sent back the felafel and were not charged for it, which was nice, but doesn’t add a star for an really mediocre meal.

Really cool American tapas! The New England Dinner 2.0 is a must order! I was really happy with the beer selections. 6 mostly local craft brews from places like Sebago or smuttynose The server was really helpful in directing us on how much to order for the tapas. Getting you food can be a little slow but if you’re not in a hurray it is no big deal. Enjoy you beverages and the atmosphere.
