Old as Adam

What charm! So often I can find great vintage clothes for special occasion for myself, leaving my partner dressed out of synch or in some mish mosh of styles attempting to look vintage. Old as Adam is a great cure for that problem if your pockets run a little deep. There’s a small but perfectly chosen selection of men’s garments and accessories to bring out the classy or dandy in your man. Also a great election of odd curios and decorations and he ships around the continental US.

They must have invented a time machine taking me back to a time when men dressed like gentlemen – pocket squares and all, people carried journals to document their travels overseas, and all men wore beautifully crafted round glasses, before hipsters claimed them as their own.
Everything here is beautifully curated, from the clothes to the random knick knacks strewn about the store. It is definitely a place that pays homage to the best parts of a bygone era. You can browse racks of blazers, ties, uniquely bright patterned linen shirts crafted in India (crafted in a material that designers no longer use, apparently), and feel as if you jumped in a time machine and landed in a well-​dressed man’s walk-​in closet in the 1950s.
I flipped through pages of someone’s old travel journal, documenting their trip by sea to Europe. All in cursive, there was a page that struck out at me: «CAPTAIN’S AUTOGRAPH: E.C. Wiggle». This place is a gem. I now know what I would name my future dog, for sure:).
This place is one part vintage heaven, one part history lesson, all parts My Favorite Store In All Of Portsmouth.

Walking in here is like stepping backwards in time. I love this place.

A fabulous little shop with a virtual a potpourri of interesting antique and vintage finds. I have been in several times and every time I go in there are lots of new items. It is a step back in time that anyone who lives in, or visits Portsmouth, shouldn’t miss!

What a delightful store! Old As Adam is dedicated to the appreciation of vintage, swell men’s clothing and accessories. I loved all the bowties, suspenders, suit jackets, eye glasses, etc. You will feel like you have been transported back in time to when men dressed with the utmost class and style.
