I’m only giving one star because I have to give something. I’ll start off by saying we bought a new house and had no window coverings at all. So we needed coverings badly. No privacy. So we had the owner, Tom, come to our house and give us a quote on 8 windows, a back sliding door and two front door side windows and were quoted $ 8200 for Hunter Douglas rolling«Roman» style shades and little plantation shutters for the front door side windows. That’s a lot of money, overpriced if you ask me. He made it seem like he was giving us all these discounts but it still seemed really high. First, he forgot to bring the book of samples to our appt that was scheduled a week prior. So he had to leave and come back which took a half hour(he was already 30 minutes late). Then it took a total of 3 hours for him to measure and provide the quote. He talks way too much and also talked over us. Even though we thought the cost was high we thought we’d get really good service and a good product. We put down 50%. We were told it would be 3 – 4 weeks. No problem. At 3 ½ weeks we had to call to check on the status of our order. When my husband spoke to Tom he was told that the product was on back order which he never even bothered to call and tell us about when he placed the order. This automatically told us that it would be longer than 3 – 4 weeks. This might have been ok if we had been told about it, kept in the loop at all times. Toms said he’d call Hunter Douglas to check on the status and he’d call right back. He didn’t call back. The next day we thought we’d give him until the end of the day to call us. It was a Friday and we knew they’d be closed for the weekend. This made us nervous when 2:00 came around and we hadn’t gotten a call. I called the office and was told he was out. I left a message. I waited until just after 4:00 as I knew they closed at 4:30 and called again only to be told by an unfriendly guy who answered the phone that Tom still wasn’t in. It already bothered me that there was only one person who could provide me with the status. Finally I called back after only 5 minutes and Tom answers. As I try to talk to him he’s interrupting me and speaking quickly and mumbling. First he tells me he tried to check the status online and was having problems. Um, I thought he called the day before like he said he was going to but anyway. He calls them while I’m on the phone and gets our name wrong. He’s checking the status and not getting answers and so asked if he could call me back. At this point it’s 4:30 on a Friday and they’re closed on weekends. After 10 minutes he doesn’t call. So I call the store. NOANSWER!!! I hang up furious… so I call right back and he answers«I’m still waiting to find out.» I told him at this point that I wanted to cancel the order. He tells me «well I told you it would be 3 – 4 weeks.» Ok, 3 – 4 weeks before what? It was two days shy of being 4 weeks. Not very empathetic or friendly customer service. I told him we weren’t pleased that we were never told they were on back order and WE had to follow up. We hadn’t received a single call since he took our money almost 4 weeks earlier. I told him we want to cancel and that was that. He says«ok well I’ll have to run your card but you have to come in.» I said ok we’ll be there in 10 minutes. And he says«well we closed at 4:30 but I can stay and wait for you.» Seriously??? This place has terrible service with an owner who talks too much, interrupts, doesn’t empathize, apologize, provide status, follow up, nothing. I’m glad we got our money back and can move on. Nobody should ever have to do that much work as the customer or worry and have anxiety because they have our money. I hope they read this review, can learn from it and fix their problems.
