ummm, these central jerz Unilocalers are phenomenal. pj’s graciously accomodated our rowdy crowd, and despite charging an exorbitant amount for OJ, all went well. pancakes and eggs and bubbly and conversing with new faces… yessss. it was a good way to get the conversation flowing… and then we spilled over to winberies around the corner for a night of drinkies and laughs and general debauchery. though the juke box didn’t play some of our songs, we made the best of it and had a blast. with a crew this friendly and fun, i don’t think we could have a bad time if we tried. let’s not test this, though. i can’t wait to do it again. ps– jeff b. is the best co-pilot ever. pps– so glad y’all got home safe(even if it was the morning…) ppps– keep being awesome and repping central jersey. we exist and we are totes awesome, damnit!

There are good Unilocal events and there are great Unilocal events. I’ve been to my fair share of both, but up until Friday night, I did realize that a Unilocal event could exceed greatness. After discovering that there are several Unilocalers living in the Central Jersey area(yes, there is a Central!), I became full of joy and made it my mission to attend the next UYE. This was my first event after moving out of the Philly area and it was a damn good time. PJ’s Pancake house was super tolerable with our group and was on top of their game given the number of people. Lucky for us the OJ train constantly rolled around to top off the mimosas. Not so lucky for us it ended up costing us a pretty penny; however, probably the smallest price to pay for an incredible night otherwise. The party then continued onto Triumph. Being the silly guy that I am, I ordered a flight of beers, before realizing that the party was being moved to Winberie’s. Lucky for me, fellow Unilocaler Anya M stayed behind and we both made sure our glasses were empty before leaving. The final stop of the night was Winberie’s. I had never been but had a blast!(maybe too much of a blast. See Jeff B’s review to figure out where I slept) Unfortunately the jukebox did not play Hendrix as I requested x3, but it was still cool to slow dance to some Purple Rain and Benny and the Jets. Thanks to the pioneers behind this event, Jeff B and Amalia for organizing everything and inviting us all out! All in all it was a fun night with good food, hip venues, and awesome people. See you all at the next event!

This was my first UYE… and I had so much fun. I hope this is just the beginning of the fun that I’ll experience in future events. What made this experience great was all the wonderful people I met! Thanks to Amalia and«Mr.» Jeff for making this event happen. I haven’t been to Princeton in years and it was nice to come back and experience the bustling Nassau St. on a beautiful summer evening. Last night reminded me of midsummer night’s dream, starting with breakfast for dinner at PJ’s followed by drinks, dancing and chatting at Triumph then Winberie’s. Our $ 52.50 orange juice bill at PJ’s was definitely out of this world… lol. The service was great though and they didn’t mind that we were a little loud. The draft beers at triumph were delicious even for me(someone who doesn’t really like beer). It was also nice to enjoy affordable drinks(not ridiculously NYC priced) and music at Winberie’s. Unfortunately I had to leave early but I could tell from the pictures it was definitely a wild night after I left. Great event… and hopefully many more Central NJ events to come. «If we shadows have offended, Think but this, and all is mended: That you have but slumbered here, While these visions did appear;» …thanks to PJ’s, Triumph and Winberie’s for a great night. Till the next dream fellow Unilocalers!

What can I possibly say that would surpass the excellent reviews already offered by my fellow Central NJ Unilocal Squad? All I can do is profusely thank Amalia(it’s pronounced Emily!) and Jeff Prime for making this happen. Amalia, you have started something big here in the middle of the Garden State and, like anything that’s alive, we all need to nurture it with our laughter and joy. From the looks of this group, and the one that gathered at Old Man Rafferty’s, that won’t be a problem. Dinner of pancakes and mimosas was a great way to start the night, and our group got louder as we fueled up with sugar and alcohol. A quick walk to nearby Triumph Brewing Company yielded some beer flights for some, but a new place to take the crew later for me. We ended up at Winberrie’s for drinks after losing a couple to the late hour… something I eventually succumbed to myself. So I will keep this short – certainly shorter than most of my reviews – simply because so many others have thoroughly covered the highlights.

What’s not to like about going out for pancakes & omelets at dinnertime in Princeton, with 17 friends? Thus began the latest in(we hope) a long series of UYE’s in central NJ. Somehow when this collection of food & beverage loving folk of all ages & backgrounds gets together, magic is created. Frankly, I think we’d have a good time anywhere, but our distilled-spirit-ual leader, Ms. Amalia, came up with the idea of pancakes & mimosas for dinner. With concepts like this, somehow world peace seemed a little more reachable(then again maybe it was the champagne?). As we were seated at PJ’s the staff seemed happy to accommodate us. With a group this large, we appreciated their efforts. Mimosas were poured, more OJ was ordered(apparently using the US Defense Dept Toilet Seat budget code, since we ordered by the pitcher but were charged by the glass!) and the party accelerated. The«PJ’s special» omelet I had was okay, but nothing to write home about, same for the mashed brown potatoes. Has PJs learned to rest on its laurels because it knows the college kids and their folks will come in for breakfast no matter what? Hmm. Consensus seemed to be similar on the pancakes — good but not great. After dinner we moved on(briefly) to Triumph, but the place was jammed and couldn’t reasonably fit our frisky group. So it was on to Winberie’s. More drinks, ALOT more laughs, some dancing, a little twerking(you know who you are), and the Winberie’s staff happily allowed us to do what Unilocalers do best — enjoy a boisterous & fun evening with friends over some drinks. Only the jukebox was uncooperative, despite the fact that we fed it well with $ 1 bills. The bartender told us that the kitchen staff had, as if by demonic Bluetooth possession, disrupted the flow of selected music with their iPods! WTF? Ah well, it produced a few laughs as we suburban dudes attempted to move to the decidedly urban rap oriented stream. Suddenly I was in the mood for a drive-by! The post party report was that all made it home safely(although apparently one person who shall remain nameless slept in his car). Sweet dreams! 5 stars for the event, and three stars for PJ’s. I can’t wait for the next one!

I have lived in North Jersey. I have lived in South Jersey. But, the wide swath between the two extremes is the place I love the most. Here in the Central Jersey midlands people know how to have fun. Unilocal has established a beachhead from Asbury Park to New Brunswick to Princeton, and is capturing and holding more ground and members every day. Last night at PJ’s Pancake House, Triumph Brewery and JB Winberie’s, we once again demonstrated the strength of our friendships, and how we enjoy our time together. Breakfast @ PJ’s was decent. Our hosts were helpful and warm. We did not remain long @ Triumph because of the crowd, although the crafties tasted good. I departed at that point, but the rumors I heard were that Winnie’s had room for everyone, and people hung out for a long time. It was great to see everyone again, and those who did not attend were talked about and missed. Thanks to Amalia and Jeff for organizing. Apologies if I forgot anyone. Can’t wait to do it again.

I’ll start this review by saying that I had an awesome time at the UYE. It’s rare that I give a 5-star review to anything but spectacular, so my 5-stars for this event shows you how much I enjoyed it. Amalia did a wonderful job in setting up the event. I was surprised by the turnout. It was a beautiful night outside on the streets of Princeton, a sure sign that good times were to follow. At PJ’s there was a whole lot of food, laughter, networking and mimosa’s. I believe we cornered the market on orange futures with the quantity of orange juice that landed on the dinner check! I even got to write on the table with a Sharpie, which was a whole new experience for me. A short walk down the street, and we found ourselves in Triump Brewing Company. Their wide variety of craft brews was a nice sight to see. Given enough time, I’m sure we could have drained all of the giant beer tanks above us. We only stayed for a few because our next(and final) stop was at J.B. Winberie’s for more drinks, some music and good conversation. As we approached Winberie’s, the Jazam Summer Block Party was still going on. We were able to see a little bit of Finding Nemo, which was still playing on the big screen they set up for the event. Once inside of Winberie’s we really began to get our drank on. Sadly, we had to leave after a few hours, but left the bar in the good hands of our fellow Unilocalers. Thanks again for the invite! I hope to see you again soon.
