Awesome food, breathtaking views, beautiful ambience and excellent customer service! My love and I ordered taro chocolate chip waffles, loco moco crab cakes and Applewood smoked bacon. What a delight! No complaints, no worries… Absolutely love this place! Unforgettable Valentine’s Day!

Let me start by saying the food was good, however for what ends up being almost $ 100 per person and only One had alcohol it was nothing special … In fact took my Father for his 70th birthday, sat on the terrace which was great until we heard the water running like it does when coming from the Eve’s after a heavy rain. The tables are wise so you are far from those on the other side and have to yell to hear each other. The chairs seemed short also? The Waiters seemed to be too busy to spend any time, one randomly walked up and dropped a desert for my my Fathers birthday. We had no idea what it was and no candle or anything. The guy took off as fast as he dropped it. We were there 2 + hours and barely got a second cocktail. The coffee was so bitter my parents couldn’t even drink it. While the fire and water features were beautiful and loud it was a disappointment. I would say go to The Westin

Makana Terrace is a great place for brunch. It has breaktaking views of the Princeville beach and the breakfast buffet is great. We stayed at the St. Regis Princeville, and as platinum spg members– we received daily breakfast which was definitely worth it.

Romantic place, amazing views perfect for a special date… I hope they make food better tasting with more choices for their buffet…

Scenery was beautiful but the service and food was not worth the price. It took at least 15 mins to get our second glass of wine and after asking 3x. You’d also think they could keep a water glass full with a server, assistant server and buss boy but no, it was empty more than half the time. The sushi was the worst sushi I’ve had on the island and I ordered the Mahi Mahi, which was overcooked and came with a dry sauce. I couldn’t even finish my $ 40+ entrée. By far this was the worst and most expensive meal on Kauai. Go walk down to the free beach instead of wasting your time.

The staff was very welcoming, the food was just ok. We sat outside by the water, with a beach backdrop. We started with the roll which was good but not worth the $ 24. Then we had salmon sashimi which was fresh. The beet salad would have been my favorite appetizer but it had just 3 small pieces of beets but alloy a lot more strawberries. The Mora main dish lacked depth but the flavors were not bad either

The view is absolutely spectacular, but that’s about it. It’s a great place to watch the sunset, but you can also easily do that from the lounge/bar that is one floor above the restaurant. The food was nothing special and a little bland. Definitely not worth the approximately $ 45 per entrée cost. If you’re thinking about visiting the hotel(either as a hotel guest or visitor), I would recommend enjoying a drink on the balcony at the St. Regis Bar(across from the front desk) and then finding dinner elsewhere.

We made our reservations over a month ago because we were super excited to return to our favorite Sunday brunch on the island. I am sad to say that time around over my past 3 experiences here is disappointing. The buffet is less special and to top it off their were areas of messiness and unattended. We arrived at 11:30 so it’s not like it’s the end of the Buffett. Not the 5 star experience that is expected at a resort so magnificent. I am sad to walk away disappointed :(oh and I almost forgot there were people with crab legs and claws when I went to get some I was told we no longer do crab but had some left over from New Years … Really and the food tables were untidy and many were missing the display

We went here New Years Eve during dinner time. We called same day, early morning asking for reservations at 5:45pm, to catch the beautiful sunset view everyone raves about. They had seats for two– no problem. We were seated by 5:45– inside, with a huge wooden pillar blocking any sort of view. Having to sit inside is no problem, especially having made same day reservations. The entire seating area is near full length windows, but we got that one table with a blocked view. Nobody even sat at the 6 open tables at the window the entire time we dined. We ordered glasses of wine to start and our waitress then told us to enjoy our buffet. Buffet? Their website didn’t mention anything about buffet only for NYE and nobody told us when we made reservations(or at the two restaurant check in areas before you get seated) Buffets are awesome, though so we figured it was no big deal. There were assortments of sushi, vegetables, fish, and meat. I don’t know who would enjoy fillets of fish that have been sitting in a warmed up buffet platter for hours or cold pork roast. The sushi was warm and tasted fishy– not fresh. They had zero respect for their food. It was awful. The best thing I ate was garlic mashed potatoes and even those were room temperature. Best part of our night is that two glasses of wine and two buffet plates came out to $ 300. I have no problem paying for delicious food. I figured I was going to spend upwards of $ 200 on their regular menu. But lukewarm(at best) buffet food?! Their website definitely should have stated the fact it was a buffet night along with the cost per plate.

This place is ~3.5 stars Dramatic view, friendly service but okay food. We came in December and there was no sunset view as the sun disappeared behind the mountains. Food: mero in curry: the coconut curry really went well with the fish. However the Brussels sprouts that accompanied the dish was a bit overcooked and mushy. Onaga: fish was cooked well, tender and fresh, but the corn and the sauce was too sweet and really took away from the fish. Maybe the sushi and the rolls would have been a better entrée choice.

Wow. Great breakfast overlooking the bay. Perfect table at the edge. Buffet was full of typical selections you’d find at any of the big chain breakfast buffets with some special exceptions from Kaua’i. The small flocks of birds attacking the tables, often flying within inches of our heads while eating, we’re kind of an odd cross of cool/charming and a bad Hitchcock movie remake. But the view was awesome.

Ambience and view is pretty much unbeatable. Food and drink prices are(as expected) very, very high. If the weather is clear, sunset is amazing. I wouldn’t do it every day but if you are on the north shore with someone special it is a pretty romantic place to be at sunset. Make reservations about 1 hour before sunset to enjoy the full sunset experience.

We ate here only once because we did not find many appealing items on the menu, surprising since this is one of the upscale restaurants at the St Regis in Princeville. If you like sushi and seafood, you may appreciate the menu more. We were very tired from a long day of traveling. I ended up choosing a la Carte items and ate fingerling potatoes and asparagus. The potatoes were good; asparagus was okay to marginal. My husband ate the beef tenderloin, which was quite expensive. He rates it 6/10, and says«it wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t blown over.» We attempted to order a specialty rum(Zaya from Trinidad) that was listed on the menu. They did not have it, after checking with several of their properties, and we had to order one of the other options.

Here for Sunday brunch on September 132015. Best patio view of Hanalei bay. You can’t go wrong with the outstanding St Regis staff. Outstanding. I believe our server was Lynda. She was so attentive and friendly. She kept our champagne glasses flowing. Joel at the host desk was so friendly and sweet. This is our third time visiting the island and we make it a tradition to come here for brunch. I’ve noticed through the years there has been fewer seafood options and more vegetarian options. If I recall correctly, the price for brunch a few years ago was also more expensive as opposed to $ 75/person currently. You can’t go wrong with the view. If you visit at the right time you can see beautiful waterfalls in the distance as well as Hanalei bay. Service has always been top notch. Service and atmosphere 5 stars. Food 3 stars. I feel the food is tasty but most people visiting the St Regis may expect better for a Sunday brunch.

Incredible service, delish food, breathtaking view. A taste of luxury after a rugged day of hiking or beaching. We loved this hotel even though it was definitely a splurge. For us, it was worth it to be wined and dined one night of our trip. If you want a seat out on the terrace(which you do) call ahead and make a reservation for 5:30. It starts to get busy as early as 6 and there’s definitely no point in going to sit inside! We also booked spa treatments. Will report back after.

On the first night we stayed at St Regis we had dinner at Makana. They seated us at one of the best tables on the terrace. The sunset was gorgeous as we overlooked the west side of the bay. I ordered the mero, which was a buttery flaky fish, served with a crema and Brussel Sprouts. I would definitely order this again. The wine menu was good. The service was very good. For my husband and I the bill was just short of $ 200. The best part of this restaurant was the view of the sunset over Hanalei Bay. My understanding is that it is the best view in Princeville.

We were on a mission to have a great dinner and see the sunset on the North shore. We failed on the latter due to heavy cloud cover but succeeded with the former at the Makana Terrace. The drive up from Poipu is over an hour and a bit grueling at times but we were glad we came up for dinner. Our 545pm reservation was early giving us a great table along the terrace wall overlooking the cove. We were one of the first tables of the evening when seated but the place was full after 7pm when we left. Service is top notch. Our server Flyn knew the menu inside and out along with the wines for a perfect pairing. My wife ordered the huli-huli chicken while I went for the tenderloin. Flyn offered a couple of wine samples to my indecisive wife to select from with her chicken. I took her advice with a Malbec and loved it. While waiting for our meals, we enjoyed a selection of breads and butters watching the goings on in the water. Lots of paddle boarders and a few boats were spied from our hilltop vantage point. My tenderloin was cooked medium rare just as I prefer along with some broccolini and polenta cake. I wasn’t too crazy about the polenta when I saw it on the menu but loved it with my steak. It had a crisp outer layer to it along with a bit of spice to liven up the whole dish. After wiping my plate clean with a piece of bread, I ordered up a berry crumble for my wife and I to share. The portion was s good size for sharing and served warm with ice cream was quite good. Nice way to finish our meal.

First, I did use Unilocal to find this place. It was our first morning in Princeville after traveling all day before. The time change had us thrown so we were up at 6:30AM and starving. So I looked on Unilocal for breakfast and this came up as open by 6:30. Perfect. Drive over there and that’s when we found it’s in the St. Regis hotel. We had to valet there was no parking available. You have the choice of the buffet or ordering from the menu. We chose the buffet at $ 38pp. The view was so worth it and the food was spectacular. They gave us the best table outside on the outermost corner. So there was nobody sitting in front of our view. There was so much to choose from the buffet. Even if the food had been terrible, which it was not, the view was amazing. The wait staff super friendly, the hostess hugged us when she found out it was our first visit to Hawaii. It was a wonderful way to start off our vacation in Kauai.

Life is good! If you’re on the terrace you’re in a very, very nice place in life. You need to just sit back and relax, drink the endless coffee, partake of the buffet and enjoy the view. This is all about eating the breakfast early in the morning when they open before the crowds show up. You have the place and the service to yourself, eat a bit, drink coffee, read the newspaper and search the internet for news back home. Enjoy!!! As said, don’t come here for the food as your not going to be impressed; although when you relax and enjoy the view; the food is secondary.
