We heard a lot of good things from friends about L’Antica Trattoria, or St. Bart’s as its more popularly known, so our first chance to try it last night was not a disappointment. First of all, the atmosphere and décor were outstanding; clean, tasteful and not at all outdated. The menu was extensive«Italian» with so many interesting dishes that I didn’t know what to try. So we started with a glass of the house burgundy, which was in a generous size glass and reminded me of what my grandparents used to drink. My wife ordered the veal with peas, which the waiter/owner said was their signature dish. It was very tender and in a tasty sauce which my wife loved. Only thing was it could have been served at a hotter temperature for my preference. I’m on a diet, so I ordered from their«small plate» selections the balsamic grilled chicken and cavatellis, which I really enjoyed. Their tomato sauce is very light and flavorful, not at all like the heavy sauces some Italian restaurants serve. And it was piping hot. The waiter stopped by a couple of times to chat about the food and the history of the restaurant, which gave it a very nice personal touch that we like. No desert(diet again!) but we ended the meal with a delicious freshly made cup of coffee, which was better than you typically get in restaurants. I can’t wait to come back again with friends and this time try a few more menu items– maybe even the tripe, which I hear is outstanding. We’ve lived in RI our whole lives, so how have we missed this gem of a neighborhood restaurant that’s been around 38 years!

This place is just amazing. It takes me back to the Italian food I had in Florence, Venice, Lago Di Garda, Verona. Incredibly authentic. The waiter is the owner — 38 years still doing it. His wife does the cooking. A true mom and pop restaurant. No need for quality control of the chefs. No need of watching the wait staff attitude. The desserts are unbelievable. Cream gelato with chocolate covered coffee beans. House-made Tiramisu. They had 8 deserts They have a delightful house Burgundy wine which is the finest house wine I’ve had. The eggplant rigatoni are our favorites. Delightful pasta(penne, spaghetti, etc.) All of this place — all of it, is just the most wonderful Italian restaurant I’ve been to Stateside. The best thing? $ 30 price fix menu for 2 on Tuesday nights!

I have eaten at St. Barts many times over the years. Always a fine meal. Lydia is a chef extraordinaire whose appetizers and entrees are to die for. A good value and fun night out. Highly recommended.

I had really high expectations at dining at this little Italian joint, off the beaten Atwell path, and for better or worse, it exceeded my expectations at certain aspects and disappointed at others. The décor was surprisingly spacious, with some Christmas lights, a few sculptures and paintings to give a really pleasant, family-owned operation vibe. I got a coupon and decided to try out many of the popular dishes, including the eggplant, the smelts, the calamari, the chicken special and the home made pasta. My favorites were definitely the smelt and chicken special. I loved how the chicken practically melted into my mouth and I only wished there was more on the plate to share with the rest of the family. The calamari was quite… satisfactory with much more banana peppers than I preferred. The eggplant dish was decent, but I couldn’t discern much from the eggplant or the dough. My biggest disappointment came when I ordered the antipasto dish and got something completely different and the staff didn’t seem to believe me. Overall, it was a good experience, and the price: portion ratio makes this establishment more attractive than its neighboring Italian competition. Food: 3 stars Price: 3 – 4 stars Service: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

Had dinner there tonight. Restaurant was very pretty. Had a Federal Hill feel even though you are in Silver Lake. Salads were ok. Our dinners were very good with 3 choices of sizes. Plate size, ½ lb and 1 lb size. Husband got plate size and took some home! Would go back but the service was horrible. Not the servers fault, only 1 for the whole dining room. She was literally running. Can only give 3 stars because we were there forever and I really wanted dessert but did not want to wait any more.

A hidden treasure! We did use a discount with our meal — but the only change we made was to order dessert.(something we rarely do) The calamari was cooked perfectly. I had not tried it with marinara before, but so tasty. My husband and I were both excited about the special — Chicken Saltimbocca.(sauteed chicken breast topped with mild provolone, mushrooms, and prosciutto in a white wine sauce) It could not have been better. The chicken was so tender. The sauce was light but so full of flavor. The side salad was not much to mention, but it was fresh and included. The side of pasta had a red sauce that was very tasty. The interior atmosphere was wonderful with low lighting, white tablecloths. The waiter was very attentive(while not hovering). We were there beyond closing and there was never an indication we should«hurry up». We had no problem using the coupon. Skip«The Hill». You’ll find a great taste of Italy right here. Cannot wait to return!

My boyfriend and I came here last Saturday for his birthday. We would’ve gone somewhere else but figured we would try here because we had a coupon. If we didn’t have the coupon we probably wouldn’t have ordered as much food as we did(we had to spend a minimum of $ 50 to use the coupon). All I want to say is that though the atmosphere was nice, everything else in my opinion was subpar. We ordered the toasted ravioli and calamari for appetizers and definitely have had far better than what I got at this place. The calamari was pretty dry and came with marinara sauce on the side, though I was hoping for a better kind of sauce but it’s whatever. The toasted ravioli weren’t that good in my opinion. They were pretty tasteless and felt like they were missing something. I kind of thought they were a waste of calories so I didn’t eat many and told my boyfriend not to eat them. I feel like the waitress forgot about our salad cuz they took forever to come out and the dressing was a little acidic for my liking but it was edible. Speaking of the waitress, she was nice but didn’t really pay much attention to us because our water glasses sat empty for quite sometime. Now, I’m giving this place two stars because the chicken parm was pretty good and redeemed this place for the not so good appetizers we got. The chicken was tasty and juicy, but I probably could’ve made better myself. The waitress was kind enough to let us know that we were shy of the $ 50 minimum we had to spend for the coupon so we got this lemon dessert thing, which was really good though it was definitely not worth the $ 7 we paid for it. Who knows if we’ll be back to this place. Also, the place seemed to be a little on the empty side for a Saturday night and the parking lot is tiny. I also felt like we were getting rushed out towards the end, not cuz we were the only ones in there by the end but due to the fact one of the waiters was vacuuming at my feet as I was trying to eat and have a conversation with my boyfriend. A little rude in my opinion. Especially considering there was more than an hour before they closed and they were acting as if they couldn’t wait for us to leave so they could go home.

Went on a Friday night around 530. Place was EMPTY, only 2 other customers. The service was ok, nothing special. We had antipasto and fried raviolis for appetizers. The meats on the antipasto seemed to be just lunch meats you would buy at Stop & Shop, the raviolis were pretty good though. Ordered the veal & peas for an entrée with mixed vegetable side. The veggies seemed to be just canned vegetables that were microwaved and put on the plate. The veal and sauce was very good though, thats about all that was above average. Probably wouldnt go out of the way to return, too many other italian restaurants to try.

Went here for a wedding Saturday. The décor is nice and the wait staff was friendly. However, the food was a let down. Had salad which consisted of iceberg lettuce, one cucumber slice, a mushy tomato slice and dressing that was way to acidic. Dinner was chicken stuffed with broccoli and cheese covered in a butter sauce. It was pretty tasteless. The neighbor is sketchy And their parking lot is tiny, Like 6 spots tiny. Forcing you to park in the street in the not so good area.

I have been eating at Lydias and Rinos for over 30 years. We just call it Saint Barts in Silver lake … try the calamari and snail salad and Bindi Desserts.

Always delicious! One of my favorites. It’s off the beaten path but well worth the trip. The service is great and the food is excellent. They have a decent wine list, as well. They have a new, seasonal section on the menu, which supposedly will change often. Can’t wait to go back!

This little Italian-American spot in an out of the way under-appreciated neighborhood has grown on me. The service is without fail friendly, the pricing is really inexpensive compared to comparable spots, especially when using a deal, and the food meets expectations if you like traditional Italian-American standards like veal and peas or chicken parm. If I take into account price to quality, this place beats all the places I’ve been to in RI for this type of cuisine. Italian-style restaurants in RI and most places stateside will never compare to what I’ve had in Italy but if you want reasonably priced carbs, this spot is a very good option. Give your wallet a break from the typical mediocre overpriced spots on Federal Hill and check this place out for a more low key relaxed meal.

Food is terrific. Has always been packed when we have gone. I had chicken parm with a slice of eggplant on top. It was delicous. No one complained and all four of us cleaned our dishes. Only four stars because the wine list was ok. The food was def 5 stars. The red gravy was very good. Worth going to.

My fiancé and I had a gift certificate so we figured we’d give it a go. We live in Providence on the East side, so I’m not saying it was by any means far, but a little bit out of the way. Well worth it. Nice family friendly setting, a little quiet in there which was a bit intimidating seeing as we brought our six year old along and he tends to talk kind of loud. Some soft background music would have been nice. Very beautiful décor and super comfortable seating. The food is fantastic! Little bit of a wait, but we chalked it up to the chef taking their time prepping the food. There were also only two waitresses(that I could see) working and they were both really nice and helpful. I got the rolled eggplant and my fiancé got veal parm. Mine was fantastic, very rich in flavor and the perfect portion. I don’t eat veal, but fiancé said his was great. Again it wasn’t too much food, just enough and we ate all of it! Our son got your standard kid dish spaghetti and meatball, but he loved it. The adults shared a bottle of wine and we ended the night with a nice Italian gelato desert shared between the three of us. I probably wouldn’t have known about this place if it wasn’t for our coupon, but now that we tried it we’ll def be returning!

We go here about once a month — nothing fancy, but good food and nice atmosphere. We came the first time on but found you have to order $ 50.00 to use the $ 25.00 certificate. So next time we ordered drinks and dessert and that was perfect for 2 people. Prices are reasonable and portions very good. We always make a reservation, but have never had to wait. Owner is always available and friendly! Try it — you’ll be back!

I have gone on several dates here because it has nice ambiance for Date Night. There is a personal touch as the owner often comes out. The veal is excellent, I had the snail salad… and although I was not a big fan of the idea, I really liked it. Every experience has been positive with great taste and portion size. i am always looking to get back there.

I had no idea that this place even existed! I walked in, and there was this airy, homey feeling, yet there were white linens like fine dining. Great portions for the price, without lacking quality. I shared an antipasti with my party and dove right into my eggplant rollatini. Superb. This place is very family-oriented with a half family-style menu. I think I found my Father’s Day place!

The boy and I came here tonight for dinner since we had a coupon. We got seated quickly which was good because there were only 3 other occupied tables. We ordered the antipasto Italiano and calamari for our apps which were really good. For our entrees we got the Rollentini Melanzana and the chicken nepolitana. The portions were the perfect size, not too big. Both were cooked well and seasoned well. I had a side soup which was alright but tasted canned. The veggies were definitely prefrozen which was pretty disappointing. As for the service, our server was friendly but we did feel a bit rushed with everything. I did give my coupon after we ate and he seemed a bit annoyed saying«next time show this before you order.» Oh well. It was good for the deal we got but I don’t think I’d bother going back. The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary.
