Abigail’s Jewel Box

My mom and I were shopping around Putnam and stopped in Abigail’s Jewel Box on a whim. We were greeted very warmly by the staff and the owner Jefferey made it a point to say hello and show us his inventory even though we were clearly just browsing. He spotted my engagement ring right away and was able to immediately tell that it was an antique. We started to talk about my upcoming wedding and began to discuss what mine and my fiancé’s plans are for the band to accompany my ring. He had great ideas and right away I knew this is where I wanted to get the bands made. Jefferey then gave me the courtesy of space and time to reach out to my fiancé and discuss with him the design Jefferey had suggested. He and I were able to make a decision to move forward with the design of the band. Jefferey was then able to sit down with me and show me all of the options there were that would coordinate and flatter the ornate antique ring I have. We came to a conclusion and Jefferey was able to design a band that is absolutely beautiful and at a very fair price. Needless to say Abigail’s Jewel Box is now going to be my go to jewelry store!

I had the pleasure of meeting his sister Zee and she was lovely and very knowledgeable in addition to being incredibly welcoming and warm. I felt very taken care of by the team of «old world» jewelers at Abigail’s Jewel Box!

This store is «simply» marvelous! The owners are old-​fashioned «jewelers»! Their pieces are unique and they have pride in what they are selling. Repairs are done in a timely manner and with a smile for «reasonable» prices. Just browsing is a wonderful experience.

I did months of research on antique rings and ended up here. We found a beautiful two tone gold basket setting from 1935 and I still love it. It was $ 1200 and they gave us $ 200 off and resized it for free and told me they would replace the stones for free if I ever lost one. That’s a pretty awesome policy. With that being said, there are much cheaper rings across the street in the antique shop however, there are a few that are more ornate in Abigail’s. Unfortunately, I have to agree with previous reviews that the owners are rude, loud, and can be offended easily without warrant and be very rude and pushy

I have found this store to be the absolute BEST jewelry store I have ever been to. Jeffrey and his sister Zee are the nicest, helpful JEWELERS. I capitalize this word because mall jewelry stores like Zales and Kay contain SALES PEOPLE, NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE jewelers. I have sold broken gold jewelry to them and they gave me the highest price of ANYONE else that I went to.
I have had MANY items repaired there. The most recent are my Engagement ring and Diamond wedding bands. They came out looking better than when I first bought them 13 years ago (at a Zales store)!
They have the most beautiful and unique pieces there to sell. They are both EXTREMELY knowledgeable & honest. They have been there for over 40 years and I hope they are still there 40 years from now!

I have been going to Abigail’s for over 8 years. I am surprised by the comments I have read. Jeffry and Zee (owners) have been outstanding. I am always greeted warmly, and both are so helpful. I have had my wedding band redesigned by Jeffery and I love it! My husband has bought me several gifts from Abigail’s … Always exciting to see that pretty bag with jewels,! I rated them 5 stars … The jewelry at Abigail’s is beautiful and unique. I have referred family to them countless times.

Had literally the worst jewelry shopping experience of my life at this shop. So bad that it made me want to join Unilocal to warn others to stay far, far away from here. The people working are horribly rude and do not seem like they want anyone’s business. I went in to look at wedding bands with my mom and the woman working told me to go to the jeweler that my fiancé bought my engagement ring at, instead of looking at Abigail’s, in a very rude manner. I have a classic solitaire and therefore have thousands of bands to chose from, so it was extremely strange that she would turn away my business.
When you are prepared to spend thousands on jewelry, most people would like to have kind attention from a jeweler, Abigail’s doesn’t seem to grasp this concept. Not a normal place at all– the people are bizarre and so is the interior of the store. If you have any sort of money to spend, save it for a place that appreciates their clientele.

All I did was call to get some info on hours and some pricing options and I wasnt treated the way I would like to be as a customer.

Positives: They give decent deals to sell your gold to them. They will re-​size your rings for free if you bought them there.
Negatives: The male owner is rude and snotty. He acts like he is too good for this area. He thinks he is on 5^th ave in NY. The female owner who you don’t see very often is very nice and sweet.
