Walked around in a light dusting of snow when my order at Pulau wasn’t ready yet, and appreciated the existence but was underwhelmed by the execution of this playground with benches, not to be confused with the similarly named Manhattan green space 2 basketball courts if the nearby Frank O’Connor is full.

I was walking through this park a few days ago on Sunday and I could not believe how much filth and garbage there was in the park. Everywhere you look… all over where the grass should be was zero grass in sight… instead there is garbage all over the soil. I had to step over mounds of garbage including by the staircase. There was broken glass all over the place and kids were playing in this park in the middle of Elmhurst. It’s quite disturbing and disgusting. I was wearing sandals so I was afraid to step into something by accident and get cut. It is one of the most ghetto parks I’ve seen around in Queens. It was a bad idea to cut through it as a shortcut. I noticed that Elmhurst lately has been looking shabbier and shabbier. My boyfriend told me it’s because of the Elmhurst Hospital that this neighborhood is falling apart. I think in general the people in the neighborhood seem to not care and not take care of their own neighborhood. Garbage everywhere on the streets and a lot of businesses are closing down. Parks not being maintained and are in need of updating and renovation badly. Eyesore.

This little park in the middle of busy Elmhurst provides trees and greenery to a place that seems too crowded with cars, people and tightly spaced buildings. This park is across from the Newtown Church which is quite a building to look at in this little city neighborhood. The bathrooms here are fairly well kept. It is a nice place to stop and have some relief from urban life. Buy food from any of the stores from cultures around the world and have a nice lunch sitting here.
