In my path to gyro enlightenment on a walk home I found this truck. By no means were service and product a issue but this sadly didn’t meet the grade to be my new go to truck. On the plus side you can sit on lovely chairs while you wait so that’s a plus would have been a 4 if the pita was warmed a little.

Mohammad is the best! He is so friendly and makes sure you get what you like! My boyfriend showed me this spot one of my first Visits in Astoria. I still loving coming by! The falafel over rice is super!

I’m drawn to Mohammad for simple reasons. He has a zest and outlook on life that is absolutely infectious. This great passion is reflected in his food. I’ve only ordered the chicken and falafel and can’t say enough about them. Unlike other local carts, the food isn’t dominated by salt or heat. It has wonderful flavors including jasmine and fennel. Try Mohammad’s food and hear his words of wisdom. His life experience is very interesting and has definitely shaped his craft.

Meet Mohammad once and you will feel like you have known him for years. Pull up to the area and you will always hear him chatting up a storm with the sobers and the drunks. The food is as he says«cooked fresh and with love». I have had the lamb gyro and it was as delicious and savory as it can get. Nice toast on the bread(not burnt, nor to cold). Go ahead pour some white sauce and spike it with some hot sauce. Let your taste buds go to town. Feeling like a platter type of night? Dig into a lamb and chicken plate. Rice is fresh and the meat could not get any better. Chunky pieces of savory chicken and lamb covered in white sauce make you salivate for the next fork full coming in. You won’t get no ground chicken or small pieces. You get $ 10 chunks for a $ 6 price. Bargain? YEAAAHH! I’ve tried several places in Manhattan and Queens. Just seeing at how dirty some can be or not friendly, these places are they drive business away. Mohammad keeps me coming back drunk, sober or just for a simple hello! «Cooked Fresh and With Love»

Let me start by saying I don’t think I’ve ever met a friendlier street vendor, ever! Mohammad is super friendly and very talkative. He strikes up a conversation with just about every one of his patrons. As for the food it isn’t anything special. Ive gotten the lamb platter a few times and it was fairly average. He does however give you really large portions and he’s usually open throughout the night. That includes 5−6am on the weekend where just about everythingelse is close except one of the few 24/hr diners. A platter will run you $ 6 and it’s worth it if it’s late, you’re intoxicated and just want an abundance of food, or because it’s late at night or early morning(depending on how you look at it) he might be the most convenient option.

Like a good neighbor, Jannah Halal Food Cart is there! Late night drunchies, post-gym/work & too lazy to make something or just in the mood for some street meat, these guys got you covered. It’s your typical $ 5 lamb over rice w/white sauce. Bön Appetite

My bf and I strolled by this cart a few days ago and ordered the chicken with rice. It was DISGUSTING, more fat and Lord knows what than actual meat. The guy also took FOREVER to cook and we were annoyed by the time we got our food. I highly recommend you go to the other carts on the street rather than this guy. The quality of the food sucked! The salad was a joke, more borderline rotten lettuce than anything, and the rice smelled funny. NEVERAGAIN.

Here is why I love living in my neighborhood: There are more food carts than there are Starbucks Coffee. Rejoice, then, in the glow of the bright white lights beaming down on the lines of hungry folks who’ve opted for street meat over a sit-down dinner. I mean, you can sit down and still enjoy this, but it’ll be on park bench or the comfort of your own couch, balanced precariously in your lap as you shovel food into your face. Jannah feeds the food cart frenzy with your typical selection of halal delights, with a hot dog and hamburger thrown onto the menu for good measure. While this type of meal is predictable cheap, Jannah beats all the prices around as far as I’ve seen, coming in at $ 3 for five pieces of Falafel over rice, with shredded lettuce and tomato on the side. A heaping portion of chicken over rice is also a mere $ 3, which may raise a bit of suspicion. $ 3? For a whole meal? Satisfying it is and flimsy it is not, but the Falafel was kind of dry and the chicken not as fresh as some other carts. If you’re looking to fill up with a decent meal, Jannah can certainly fit the bill(especially if your wallet is anything but wide), though they may be tastier options throughout the neighborhood.
