Not sure why the negative reviews. This is authentic Chinese food outside of Chinatown. All the Chinese people flock here for dim sum. We like the dim sum here because it’s always piping hot off the carts. They have the best stuffed eggplant. We have enjoyed our dinners here as well. Absolutely love their salt & pepper Trio. I think we have to substitute one of the items with the tiny fish. It’s like eating fish French fries. YUM. Sometimes the waitresses can have attitude … not always… just sometimes…

Very dirty place. First time I saw a mouse. Second time the spoon was dirty and they changed it immediately. But I found a hair in my food.

Been to Grand Chinatown on more occasions for both dim sum and dinner than I care to count so a review is long overdue. So for dim sum, I’d say it is fresher here than China Pearl Quincy but your tradeoffs will forever be the long wait during the weekends and the lack of variety. As a pescatarian, there are even fewer choices. Off the top of my head, I remember har gow, shrimp rice noodle, a few bun options and the egg custard as possible choices. Yeah, their shrimp or veggie(aka non pork or beef) varieties are almost nonexistent here. Dinner is not a bad option if you’re looking for authentic Cantonese food around these parts and not willing to travel into Boston. Some of the usual dishes they do well are seafood bird’s nest, twin lobsters with ginger and scallions, any steamed fresh fish, the salt and pepper fried dishes, sea conch, cubed pan fried flounder, geoduck with vermicelli and the pea pod stems. Is it kinda greasy? Um, yeah. But is it familiar? Um, yeah again. It is what it is. Overall, it’s a 3.5 raised to a 4 because it’s 1 of 3 Chinese restaurants in Quincy I’d dine in that is authentic and the service actually isn’t awful. Am I in love with the place? Not quite. Love is a strong word. Will I keep coming back because there’s only this place, East Chinatown or Ming’s? Yep, probably. And there we have it!

Very poor service. Dirty restaurant. We reserved an area of the restaurant for a celebration — 7 tables at 3:30pm. We arrived at 3pm to make sure everything was ready before our guests arrived. Nothing was ready. There was garbage on the floor around the tables. There was storage items behind a table. The plates and glasses were so dirty. Some of the chopsticks had wet food in it still. The tables and place settings were arranged messily. I said something to the manager and he said, yes, we will fix this right after the staff have lunch. At this point, it was 3:15pm! Guests had already started arriving! And they were supposed to be ready by 3:30pm!!! When were they going to take care of this? Guess what? They didn’t fix anything. There was still garbage everywhere and stores the items by the tables. The staff didn’t even finish lunch until almost 4pm. At that point, there were lots of guests and they were mingling. There was no room for the staff to even clean the floor. The manager didn’t do anything! He didn’t help! He didn’t get his staff to help. I was rearranging the table settings myself while the staff ate lunch and watched me. If you make an arrangement for a specific time at a restaurant, you need to have your staff accommodate that time — not have them sit on their butts and do nothing. They should have had their staff eat sooner or have half of them eat and half help, take turns or something. The manager said yes to my requests but didn’t do anything. I will never come to this restaurant again. Worst restaurant ever.

it’s your typical dim sum restaurant. Though it’s in the suburbs, it’s ultra chaotic because Asian families like my own flock here. I like to think of North Quincy as mini Chinatown. Saturday and Sunday mornings, you might be looking at a fifteen to forty wait(depending on the size of your party). Anyways, you have the dishes you so regularly see at a dim sum restaurant, but with a little added grease! I would only go here for dim sum. The lunch and dinner is even more underwhelming, not to mention, overpriced. You can get better dim sum elsewhere!

I came here with two friends. Still not sure if this is an actual restaurant or a front for something. It was a Tuesday at 6:30 and we were the only customers. There were about 5 – 6 waitstaff standing in the middle of the dining room talking loudly the whole time, but they did not seem to want to serve us. We had to ask for menus. They brought two of us our food after an appropriate amount of time, but my friend waited until we had eaten half of ours, then asked when they would bring his. He ordered steamed tofu, and when it finally arrived it was slimy and falling apart. He asked for water and it arrived in a dirty, slimy glass. When the waiter dropped off the check he waited over my shoulder expectantly. When we tried to split the check between some cash and a card, he informed us that it was a $ 25 minimum for using a card. I wrote down $ 0 tip and he called over the manager. Instead of asking what was wrong, they insisted that we pay a gratuity. We refused and walked out to their shouting. So… That went well.

I come here all the time in the past with my family for tea. Maybe my expectations weren’t as high but today I found a piece hair in my food it was very disappointing and repulsive. We got the plate switched but I found another miscellaneous piece of paper in the new plate. I will not be coming back. And the waiters are too busy to even get us napkins. Terrible service and disappointment in food.

My boyfriend and I came in here for take out. We just wanted some hot and sour soup and spicy string beans with pork. The hot and sour soup on the menu said $ 3.95 and string beans $ 9.45. All together with tax should have come out to $ 14.34 but the woman charged us $ 15.31. We decided to confront her, not because of 97 cents but just the principle. When getting take out its 1 dollar more for the soup because it’s a bigger portion. Why wouldn’t you tell your customer that you are charging them more for something? I don’t appreciate being taken advantage of. The hot and sour soup is not good at all, I wouldn’t recommend getting it. The string beans are not bad but I wouldn’t go back to this place because of the overcharge.

My family and I recently got takeout from this place on Sunday. This has been our go-to restaurant in Quincy for family sit down dinners as well as dim sum. In fact, my family comes here a lot more than other places in the area. However, this past meal that we had, I found a ¾ inch piece of metal wire in my food. Not just a sliver, but something really obvious. How does such a thing end up in my food? Had I swallowed this, I would’ve either choked or it would’ve caused a lot of issues in my digestive system. Ownership, if you’re reading this, you may want to have a talk with your staff about this because this is a huge liability and you’re leaving yourself open to a potential lawsuit.

I mean the meal was on the good side and the bad. Service was a bit poor. It took about 40 secs for one person to get my dish out. overall the place is for good for big groups but not for, let’s say 3 people.

This Chinese restaurant used to be good, but the food and service has gone downhill for the worse now. I was there at peak dinner time and the restaurant was no where near full. The street parking can be hard to find and very limited because you have to share with all the others. With the food going downhill, this restaurant is a pass. If you look closely at your bill, you will notice that this restaurant engages in the art of deceptive pricing. They post one price on the menu and charge you more when the bill comes out. I confronted the manager on duty and she gave me the runaround that they have the right to raise prices and there is a small print on the menu that protects them. The owner is knowingly engaged in this deceptive pricing practice and so are all the people working there. They are dishonest and count on people not knowing the prices and easy to gouge customers from there on. If you catch them, they will try to justify and then will refund when you catch them. But those who just pay their bill who be overcharged. The bill is electronically printed, so the overcharging is done with the owner in full knowledge of what is happening. I am NOT the only one to notice this, please read other reviews on this restaurant and you will see that this is common practice here. The owner has been doing this for a while and has no intentions of changing this practice. I have uploaded a picture for you to decide. Try one of the restaurants in Chinatown or other parts of Quincy, you will be glad you did. In Chinese, restaurant is not honest: «餐廳不誠實»

The dim sum here was not good at all. The service was slow and the food was pretty bland. I really enjoyed their scallion pancakes. I think that was the only highlight of the entire meal. There are definitely way better dim sum places in the Quincy area. As for dinner, the food is pretty good, but not the best. It’s just like any other Chinese restaurant. Except the food is SUPER greasy. I know Chinese food is greasy as is, but I couldn’t help but notice the amount of grease there is. Everything is seasoned with MSG so everything tasted pretty generic. Pork intestines could be crispier too. The staff is really friendly though.

I’m not sure why this restaurant has such a low Unilocal score. Perhaps it is because it isn’t really catering to the Unilocal crowd. This is an old school dim sum place, at least, that’s the only reason I have gone there. The food is on carts and you pick what you want. Simple and traditional. If you are looking for a lot of people speaking perfect English, excellent service and menus, etc, I can’t tell you what kind of experience you’ll have. But the lines at dim sum speak for themselves. It’s excellent, as good as Chinatown places. When my family doesn’t want to go to Chinatown, this is the choice that I’m not unhappy with! The food is better than China Pearl in Quincy, which I think suffers from being humongous.

I NEVER wake up early or want to deal with the crowds for dim sum on the weekends, but last weekend I sucked it up. Defintely worth it! The wait wasn’t too bad considering this place isn’t that big. Portions are HUGE and price is great. I would definitely come back here. Service is just as you would expect, nothing great but not horrible.

I came here with my family a few times but my last visit here is what’s keeping me from coming back. We came here for Mother’s Day for dinner and ordered from one of those family meals and adding a couple of other dishes. I would have to say overall the food was decent, typical Chinatown Chinese food if you will. However, the thing that bugged us the most was when it came to the actual bill. I don’t exactly recall the price but what we got charged on for the meal combo was different from the menu. Looking around the restaurant, a lot of families had the same problem. When we confronted the waitress about it, she said that the manager changed the price, but didn’t put the new price on the menu. What a coincidence that you happened to not change it on the menu. Is fine that you didn’t print out the new menu with the new price, but you can at least put a little sticker on the menu to show the new price. We get the whole«price is subject to change» but let the customer know. We wanted to speak to the manager about it, but they said that he’s not in. Another coincidence? Yeah, right. The waitress looked pissed off because a lot of tables complained to her about it, but you think that people will be fine paying extra that because you happen to not change the menu price. They should have given us the stated menu price but they wouldn’t even do that and forced us to pay the«new» price which I believe is not fair. I’m not coming back to this dishonest restaurant and from what other people are saying, they’re not either. They’re lucky that they’re not getting sued for false advertisement.

The search to meet my high expectations of chinese/asian food in Boston continues. Grand Chinatown is a small/medium sized Chinese restaurant in Quincy. There can be up to a 20 minute wait for Dim Sum/Yum Cha in the weekends. The food there is pretty standard, no particular dish really stood out to me. The servers/cart operators were surprisingly nicer than most places that I’ve been to, possible making it easier for non-cantonese or mandirin speakers.

The family and I have been coming here for years. The dim sum is pretty good with a decent variety offered. However the place is small and gets very crowded during peak hours. Since the restaurant is small they seem to cram as many tables as possible into the space so you are sitting very close to your neighbors which can be uncomfortable. For dinner, the food is also pretty good with good sized portions. The service is as good as any other Chinese restaurant. Street parking only.

The Dim Sum here is pretty good; my family often dines here on the weekends for the brunch. The food served was fresh, hot and still very tender, however it wasn’t out terrifically out of the ordinary. Additionally, I must admit our tea wasn’t the freshest or greatest quality I’ve had(we ordered chrysanthemum). When we were wrapping up our meal, I particularly enjoyed their sweet tofu dessert, that I can say deserved five stars. All in all a pretty good experience, and I didn’t have any qualms with the service.

Our 2nd visit with friend and great food again. The Peapod greens with garlic were tender and fresh. I couldn’t wait to get them. At the table sweet and sour chicken, lo mein, hot and sour soup and fried salt and pepper calamari. This is the go to place for them. There are mostly Chinese guests so that’s a good sign and yes the food is authentic. Our friends tell us they are usually the only non Chinese people when they go lol. The people are friendly but we had to ask for a few things that were forgotten but not a big deal. There is free street parking which was nice.
