Maria’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant

I have been here several times over the past two years, call me a glutton for punishment! Great service each time, but awful food. Nothing is homemade! The cheeseburger we ordered last night was obviously a frozen Bubba burger, cannelloni was so salty I couldn’t eat it, and we had better chicken fingers from the gas station up the street! That was my last and final time!

This is our go to spot for drinks, dinner, take out, or delivery! Good food and great service.

I’ve given this place three tries and I’m done. The service is good and bad depending who your server is. Half the time they are hanging out talking. The food was terrible each time, we’ve had everything from pizza, pasta, and burgers. One time they forgot my child’s meal, so had to wait extra 30 minutes for it to arrive. And no apology from the owner or waitress. The last straw was when I used the restroom and the cheap dollar store soap dispenser was empty and no paper towels. To make it worst I saw an employee come out! So how did he wash his hands? This place needs Kitchen Nightmares to come in!

I really can’t even give it one star. I was with a party of eight and most were disappointed in their food. I asked for fried pork chops and they came out looking like they had been sacrificed. Another member in the party got the pork chops as well and hers came out the same. Could not believe the cook would even send them out that way. The ones that got the meatballs said they were disgusting. No flavor and full of fillers. My husband got the fried seafood platter. Said it was the worst he had ever had. Totally overcooked. The piece of fish was like a piece of wood. He did complain about his and they took $ 5.00 off. I also got the eggplant fries and they were very greasy and hardly any eggplant in them. This was not our first visit to Maria’s. It has been about 3 years since we have been there. We stopped going because the quality of the food had deteriorated but decided today to give them another try. Well, big mistake. It is worse than our last visit. My friend said her baked potato was good. And the server was pleasant and she did give us good service. So, needless to say we will not be returning which is a shame because there are very few restaurants in Quinton and New Kent County and none of them are really worth eating at. If Maria’s was good and consistent she could have a gold mine but obviously that is not her concern.

NEVER order the gyro! Barley any meat and the cucumber sauce is extremely sour and salty! WAY over priced for the quality! Won’t eat here again! Prima pizza on pocahontas trl is TO DIE FOR!

This place took me in for a short time and never payed me. I did not receive a tip or salary for any table or time I worked. But I was constantly assured I was earning training pay. Enough about me, I can tell you first hand that the sanitation is an issue. Hands ARE NOT WASHED while handling your food, silverware, or plates! Your napkins and silverware are prepared on a dirty table used as a break spot. Menus are never cleaned. Waitresses will use dish soap or plain hot water to clean your tables behind the owners back instead of bleach. The same bucket and rag of this mixture is used until it is too filthy to re-​use anymore. The containers that hold the tea have NO LID and ARE NOT CLEANED. Yes people, no lid! Not cleaned! Think of the things that are in your tea. I received several complaints on it in my short time there. Dirty hands are used to scoop your ice out for your drink, to cut your lemons, prepare your food. The food honestly is not that great even if all the issues above weren’t present. But either way… how many more of your waitresses have gone spending hours of their time there without any pay because they were «too shy»? 100% not worth wasting your money here. There are a million better places to get your food and have a drink! I was also told I would have to write down my personal info (including my social security number) so that Maria could send it to someone who would «sort my pay out». And that Maria «doesn’t get stuff done the normal way here, but she gets it done…» I couldn’t count all the illegal happenings here on both my hands, folks.

We walked into the sports grill around 12:30 and it was totally empty. The staff was friendly and the time it took for our food to come out was a little over average. The food was decent but not great– kind of a hit and miss with the menu. I ordered the pastrami and swiss sandwich on rye and was very disappointed by how bland and tough it was to eat. Furthermore the only customer who came in was a creepy old guy who hit on the staff. Atmosphere and food together merit just 2 stars.

Me and my boyfriend were road tripping it up north and took a random exit and it led us to Marias! The hostess was very friendly and got us a to-​go menu, the menu is HUGE, many many options. if you can’t find something here then you need help lol! I got the Philly Pizza Cheesesteak and my boyfriend got the chicken philly. Mine was amazing, and he really enjoyed his! If we were locals i could see us coming here often, definitely happy for a random food stop on a road trip!

My family and I dine at Maria’s frequently and find the food and service to be the best anywhere in the area, by far. We are fortunate to have such a fine restaurant in New Kent County. Without Maria’s delicious cuisine we would have to travel to Richmond for a quality meal. The employees are top-​notch and the selection of entrées is superb. Great restaurant. Guy

Good service and good food. You get quite a bit for your money here. My favorite local Italian restaurant here in new kent (not many to choose from though lol)

Food is ok but service is a problem because the owner hires nothing but teens. Delivery is very hit or miss because no one listens or cares. I called because they put cheese on my wife’s food and was told I needed to come up there to get a replacement.
