I went to Sal’s Italian Restaurant & Pizza for lunch with my family while visiting Radford. We were seated immediately by a hostess. A server brings garlic bread with marinara sauce to your table. The complimentary bread/marinara sauce was tasty. I ordered gnocchi with Alfredo sauce and a meat Stromboli. The gnocchi was cooked well. I thought Sal’s Stromboli had plenty of meat and not too much dough. It was tasty and filling. Our server was attentive. Sal’s is located in a small strip mall. It’s plenty of parking for customers. Sal’s Italian Restaurant & Pizza is a good choice for Italian food in Radford.

I have known the family for many years, I love the atmosphere and the wide variety of food choices at all of the Sal’s locations. Pat in West end is also a close friend and knows the business in and out. Highly recommend!

Terrific food with excellent service. We took a chance after seeing the sign for Sal’s while traveling along I81 and called in. I wasn’t feeling confident after seeing the sign after the exit saying Sal’s 3.3miles. As soon as we walked in we knew we’d made the right decision. Before you could blink we had fresh, warm Italian bread with garlic and chilli infused olive oil and our drinks delivered to our table. Our food was prompt and delicious. If we happen to be traveling this road again we will definitely call in again.

Got off the highway to eat at a local restaurant rather than a fast food chain. It is about 5 minutes from the highway, but well worth the drive. Found info on Sal’s on Unilocal and read the reviews. The food was delicious. We had Cheesesteaks, cheesestak wrap and a grilled chicken wrap. Loved the rolls. My son ordered a pizza slice with bacon and it was loaded with bacon. Our server, Kelsey, was awesome, too. Great place to eat.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place, already. I’ve eaten there quite a few times. The stromboli pop is excellent(the calzones are really good, too, but I like the stromboli more). The sausage and peppers are amazing. My GF always orders a steak sub and loves it. Their desserts are good, too. Also, I don’t think we’ve ever had really bad service there. Finally, they also have decent pizza. It’s not the best I’ve ever had(far from it), but it might be the best in Radford.(Honestly, most of the pizza places in Radford are pretty terrible. So, if you’re in Radford and want pizza, then Sal’s is your best option).

Great food, great service. The food is made to order so you can get what you want. This place has been consistent for over 30 years. I ordered from here while in college and it is one of my go to places when in the Radford area.

The restaurant is clean and maintained very well. I really loved the Italian essence and inspiration used in their décor. We had a table of five and were seated right away on a weekday evening. Our service was wonderful throughout, and we were tended to professionally and very quickly! Once we placed our orders, we only had to wait about ten minutes which makes this restaurant perfect for quick family dinners. If you have little ones with you, they won’t have to get too antsy for their food. They serve bread with olive oil and seasoning while you wait. I loved that the bread was hot out of the oven– really tasty, too! Everybody enjoyed their food. My husband and I are vegetarian/vegans, so we were able to find some options that worked for us(he just had to request that they hold the chicken from his pasta). The staff were happy and willing to assist us with our dietary requests. Our youngest family member ordered dessert and it vanished almost instantly… I guess that is a good sign. We will definitely keep Sal’s in mind for next time!

I have been here many times and it has always been bad, but I keep hoping that the next time will be better. This time was no different and the last straw. I ordered the baked ziti, and I bland noodles with literally A POUND of cheese(with no flavor at all, I had to order marinara). My husband ordered the lasagna, and it was FLAT. WHATLASAGNAISFLAT??? Ive been eating here for years and have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious and that is because the chefs here actually care whether or not you like the food. I would recommend it to anybody. Best italian in the area

We always come here for something quick because their service is very fast! Their really good about bringing your bread out right away, and your drinks. They never mess up orders, but they have once with me and were so sweet and professional about correcting it and gave a discount because of the mistake they made. They have two locations, one near walmart and one next to el charros, el charros is better for bigger groups!

I didn’t expect a strip mall pizza place to be so good. It’s a great place to hang out for a pizza and beer, or just drop in for some takeout or a slice. Fast, friendly service, clean tables, good selection, good pizza.

I have been here many times and it has always been bad, but I keep hoping that the next time will be better, especially since it is family owned and operated. This time was no different and the last straw. I ordered the baked ziti, and had bland box noodles with literally A POUND of cheese(with no flavor at all, I had to order marinara). My husband ordered the lasagna, and it was FLAT. WHATLASAGNAISFLAT??? The waitress also had a condescending attitude and was unwilling to help. DONTWASTEYOURMONEY! Fast food would of been better. First of all, I lived in Radford for well over a year before I finally tried this place. Being half Italian, I know what real Italian food should taste like… I tend to be a little skeptical about restaurants that claim to be Italian(case in point: there’s a place in the New River Valley Mall’s food court called«Ragu’s». It could be perfectly legitimate, but I can’t get past the fact that it’s named after a notoriously mediocre store-bought pasta sauce that no self-respecting Italian person would EVER use). Anyway — my first visit there, I order the cheese ravioli. My reaction? GOODHEAVENS, I really missed out for a year by being afraid to try this place! Everything was perfect and the portion was really generous… there’s no way the average person could eat bread and salad AND finish their entrée. Absolutely delicious. I also recently tried their pizza. Now, I had heard mixed reviews on this — people seemed to either love it or absolutely hate it. I loved it, but here’s the thing — if you’re used to Americanized pizza(think Pizza Hut and Dominos), you might not be too crazy about this pizza because it’s basically the same thing they’d serve you in Little Italy. Personally, I’m excited to have access to this style of pizza south of NYC, but not everyone is a fan of the thin, crispy crust and the fact that it IS… well… greasy. ;) Definitely give Sal’s a shot, though! Best Italian food I’ve had in southwestern VA, and I’m really looking forward to trying more stuff from their huge menu. :)
