I came here for a private event. The event was nice and the space was a great size. I was glad there was unlimited coffee. However, the food was just decent. It wasn’t great. I even understand that it was a catered buffet so I’m not being picky. I think out of everything, the best were the mashed potatoes sadly. Everything else was very meh for me. The staff however were friendly and quick to clear any dirty plates.

Just used their banquet room to host a baby shower for my daughter. They did a fabulous job and food was so good. The servers were very nice. The selections offered to choose from was very lengthy so I had a great assortment to appease everyone who attended. I would definitely recommend them for any party to anyone. pricing versus what they give — beyond expectations!

service is top notch, food is plentiful and priced right and thoughtfully prepared. Beer is properly stored and served. Bartender is a true pro that really knows how to work a bar and pours a great drink. Too many places have measured pours which really turns me off, this place is one of very few bars left that gives the staff discretion and they use it wisely. Trivia night is very entertaining. One of the few places left that I really enjoy.

This place has a lot of potential, but needs some refinement to reach its true potential. Pros: plenty of parking, convenient location, extensive menu, entrees come with salad or soup included, classy looking staff well dressed, Irish bartender, food was well prepared, the place is big enough that you don’t feel crowded Cons: mediocre beer selection– nothing local or regional(all they need to do is put something from Riverhorse, Kane, or Flying Fish on in place of one of the 15 mass produced beers they have and if be happy), décor in the place left something to be desired with cheap beer signs, mirrors, and clocks hanging everywhere, not just in the bar area, and that there is a banquet facility next door that shares the same entrance, which means all the party goers have to go stand in front of the main entrance to smoke. I will definitely give these guys another try, just wish they bring in at least one local or regional beer– even if it’s in bottles.

I been going to this restaurant for many years now and I can say I have always had a great experience. The food is good the service is friendly but most important it’s very clean. I think the owners are awesome and have always been great to me and my family when we go. Its a great place to go to get affordable decent meals with friends or to take the family… Awesome place to go and unwind. I will continue to go for many more years.

I want to like this place, honestly because it’s 1 block from my house. I’ve been here several times and its been quite terrible every time. Last night I got a cheesesteak to go. It was 10pm and I just got back from a class in the city. I was so hungry because I hadn’t eaten all day. Sand would have tasted good to me at that point. The meat in the cheesesteak tasted old and they overlooked it so much there was not one drop of moisture left. On top of that there was grizzle. Just a disaster. The fries were horrible too. My stomach hurts just thinking about that place.

Heard about trivia, decided to give it a try. Sorry we did. 3 hours to play five rounds of two questions, with trivia host screaming into her mike constantly with very high pitched voice. She messed up several questions, and all questions were pop culture — no variation or categories. Server didn’t know what was on tap, didn’t offer choices that came with special… forgot about us a few times, but sure remembered to put every beer on the receipt. Won’t be going back.

I’m so confused by a lot of these reviews. This is not a 5 star restaurant and they don’t pretend to be. Firehouse is a bar/pub style eatery. You go to Firehouse for good wings, Reuben sandwiches, ribs, fried shrimp, onion rings and burgers. Yes, they have other things on the menu, but you’re not buying a $ 40 fillet mignon when you order a steak, so you get what you pay for. They have a full bar, TV’s, a very nice staff, clean place, full bar with good drinks. It’s a great place for an after work or lunch time alcoholic beverage with a quick, hot, fresh meal or bar snacks. I give it 5 stars in comparison to a lot of other pub/bars I know of like the Jolly Trolley in Westfield — Firehouse is way above them. I wish they had a few other classic dinner items on the menu like meatloaf, and some modern appetizers like fried calamari with Thai chili dipping sauce or mini egg rolls(who doesn’t like Asian fushion finger foods?) — maybe the owner will read this and add some of my suggestions!

I went here on various recommendations I’d heard that it had a good burger. I’d disagree. Portions were big, but very cookie-cutter-tasting, so I don’t think it even makes my list of burger-joints-to-return-to-in-a-pinch. it’s been awhile, but I remember the bun being particularly mealy. Service was friendly, which was appreciated I felt a bit different from their working class regulars. They’re called«Firehouse» because they’re going after that theme, lots of ladder company paraphernalia on the walls, and their clientele reflects that. I went on a Saturday afternoon, the inside felt cavernous, quiet and dark, a little sports-bar-like. Probably the same menu as your everyday diner, but it’s more of a drinking joint, with a huge square bar in the middle. At the same time, a family joint. Some older sports bar hounds, some senior citizens, even a family or two. Not my scene, but judging from the other reviews, it might be for a lot of other people. My review is mainly based on the burger… if you’re going for something else, it might be the place for you!

Let’s go through the motions, driving up to the restaurant, ample parking even though it was crowded on a saturday lunchtime. once i entered the actual building, the tone and setting completely changed, i was instantly more relaxed and able to enjoy myself. after walking in through the bar, i quickly found a seat near one of the large flat screens around the bar, and ordered from one of the friendliest bartenders i have ever met, Wendy. She attended to my every need while still helping the other customers, and was not breathing down my neck like the bar staff at some other restaurants(S. Rose) After receiving my very delicious frosted pint of Blue Moon, I took a look at the menu and specials, noticing that their prices were very reasonable, i finally decided on a 12 oz. blackened ribeye, which was ordered med-rare with a side of their firehouse seasoned french fries. the steak was delicious, the fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. my only concern was the vegetable, which was served slightly cold, yet i still managed to finish my entire meal, veggies and all. Overall, cleanliness of the restaurant is superb and the décor throughout the restaurant really serves the City of Rahway as a landmark and a piece of history. Being that I am 26 yrs old, wendy had advised me to come in on a thursday to listen to live music which i might enjoy, a tip which came greatly appreciated. My bill came to a total of $ 25 after ordering another round, which gave me great delight. I was very satisfied with my visit, and i will be back again. Thank you Firehouse Staff for your hospitality, keep up the good work.

Decent place. We went there twice on a Saturday night and the crowd depends on the band that’s playing. Last night there was an oldies band, so the crowd was between 40 – 60 years old. We are in our 30’s and were definitely the youngest. We like oldies music so that wasn’t the issue… It’s that they post on their website that sat night there are drink specials all night. Both times we went and asked what the drink specials were, the bartender told us there weren’t any. Then why do you post on your website that Saturday nights offer drink specials all night? It’s not like we missed them, there just weren’t any. That’s *annoying*. $ 6 for a pint of smithwicks is obnoxious. Service is ok. I like the entrance bc of all the artifacts and décor. This place is close to us and I wish I liked it slightly more so it could be a good local spot, but something is missing. I like the midnight buffet. That’s a good call. We’ll go back in the future. maybe on a different night will yield a different experience.

Might be a good pub for the bar scene, but I was here for the second time to celebrate a birthday amongst a party of 11 and most of us left disappointed. After being here twice for dinner, I think this place is fine if you like fried food, and appetizers, but leaves plenty to be desired as a dinner restaurant. I understand to evaluate a place for what it is, and did not expect fine dining, however: Most draft beers served to the dining room by our server, once the head settled were a good inch or more from being filled. This is unacceptable. I literally was half-way done with the beer after my second sip. Happened each time. Not a nit-pick, I wasn’t the only one to notice. Learn to pour bar staff! The place wasn’t busy — top-off those drafts. The appetizers were pretty good and I recommend the fried pirogies with onions. Unusual option and very good. Our dinners were much to be desired. I ordered a rib eye steak served«Murphy-Style» for an additional $ 3(That means it is served with onions, peppers and potatoes, in this case in a red sauce) The problem is the huge amount of Murphyi-ng they do. It’s all you can see. After locating some steak beneath it, I get the feeling that a dish ordered Murphy-style gets you the least desirable steak in the kitchen since it hides it all. My Rib-eye — while only $ 15.99 — was not any better than a salisbury steak. The heaping amounts of fried murphy topping made it hard to locate all the fat within the steak — and there was plenty. No exaggeration, I don’t think I cut a fat-free piece larger than 1.5″ square. It was the worst steak I’ve ever ordered out. My wife decided to order a simple cheeseburger since we were told they had good burgers. Well, she didn’t finish hers. No major complaint from her other than that it was«eh» just didn’t taste great. Her burger wasn’t better than any other bar’s burger — anywhere. No one else amongst our group of 11 had anything positive to say about their meals. The group was very underwhelmed. Our $ 340.00 tab without dessert or coffee, seemed high for what we ordered, which included all of those ¾ filled draft beers. When we got up from the table there were murmurs about the tab being higher than we all expected. No one double checked it. The Firehouse Pub is a bar with a dining room. If you’re there to enjoy the bar and get hungry, go ahead and order something, but as a dinner destination there are probably many better options around. I’ve had better food in many bars. The prices aren’t terrible, and the specials seem appealing price-wise, but what appeared to be an ample portion was basically a ton of fried potatoes, onions and peppers covering a very poor steak. Not again. Since I enjoyed the pirogies and don’t recall a bad experience my first time here, I’ll give two starts rather than just one. Rename it Firehouse Pub & Eatery
