A pleasant surprise, the Shrimp and Gritz was excellent. A more moderately priced lunch specials … But the food and freshness of the seafood was amazing. I will be back!

Nice to have a fresh fish in Alabama. Cooked to order. My favs are the crab cakes, both soups, boudin balls, and the fresh oysters. Didn’t like the boil pot. It lacked flavor. Whenever I am in town, I stop here for lunch or dinner. There are TVs so you can watch sports.

Who knew that in Rainbow City you would find a fresh seafood restaurant that serves delicious food! Cape side Fish Company is a gem of a place with friendly and efficient customer service. It’s a casual atmosphere with reasonable prices with sit down dining. The food was very good. I had the fried oyster basket that comes with homemade potato chips, coleslaw and jalapeño hush puppies. The oysters were so yummy and you get a generous portion. Lightly battered, plump and juicy, prepared just right. The clam chowder is creamy and full of flavor. My hubby had the grouper sandwich and he really liked it. Two pieces of fish, nice and crispy, not oily at all served on a delicious bun. It’s also a fish market. The owner makes several trips a week to the Gulf to pick up fresh fish. It’s not often that you walk into a fish market that doesn’t smell like fish — a very good sign! They are open for lunch and dinner, great selection of fish, prepared many different ways. Give this place a try, you will be glad you did!

I really want to love this restaurant, I really do. The food is always good, and oftentimes excellent! The gumbo and clam chowder are delicious! Many of the vegetable dishes are creative and exciting, and the higher priced items typically do not disappoint. Having said all that, no matter how good the food is, it’s hard not to have buyers regret when you go to check out and for 2 people you have a $ 50.00 lunch bill. This is Gadsden, wow! There are more affordable items on the menu, but they have a tendency to disappoint in a big way, either they aren’t good at all — such as the fried fish basket which is not de-boned(really!!!), or the portion size is so small that it should have been tripled — I’m talking about you, crab cake. Some things are so-so, like the fish tacos, they aren’t bad, but they could have some flavor to them other than the store bought salsa(which is always advertized as homemade and including an esoteric ingredient that will never ever actually show up on your plate) and the lime fresca aka plain sour cream. There is also a disturbing tendency for fish bones to wind up in everything, even things that don’t include fish :(That’s a real bummer for me. My biggest problem with this place is that the food doesn’t live up to the menu, and the wallet to stomach ratio is off in a big way. My advise, either order the most expensive thing on the menu(it will always be good) or just go for the clam chowder, the big cup, and plan on having a nice big desert to finish it up with. You’ll be happy!

Decided to visit based on previous Unilocal reviews and glad I did. The décor and presentation of food is nothing fancy, but the food is fresh and spot on. My waitress was fantastic and was able to explain the menu to me and all the options for fresh fish. I went with the copia fish and not so figure friendly mac-n-cheese and both were good. The mac-n-cheese is for sure thick and creamy, I only wish they would have browned it on the top more. My portion of fish was extremely thick and I was only able to eat the outsides that evening. As I prepared to eat my leftovers the next day for lunch I cut into the fish to find that it was basically raw in the middle :(. Which was a little disappointing. So I would say to check your fish for doneness when it’s served to you. I also had the crab cake plate for an app that comes with a fried green tomatoe on top. Yummy! I just wish that they would have served it a little differently so that the tomatoe could have drained a little before they put it on the plate which would have allowed for the batter to stick better. Overall a good find with good prices in Gadsden.

Pretty good. Shrimp basket was good with homemade chips. Shrimp and grits needed to be in a bowl not a flat plate and there needed to be more shrimp than 6 pieces. Overall good food.

FRESH seafood. That word gets tossed out a lot when it comes to fish. Wide variety of Gulf or Atlantic seafood, plus beautiful rainbow trout from Sunburst Farm in North Carolina, and staff that knows what they are talkiing about. The fish tacos, with tilapia, are perfect for lunch. The crab cake sandwhich is huge and so juicy! The catfish nuggets are light and not greasy. The hush puppies are made from scratch and have a cheesy center, not at all a frozen ball dumped in the deep frier. Try the alligator cheesecake, or the boudin balls! I have yet to have anything we don’t love.

If you’re craving fresh gulf seafood, the only place to go in Gadsden, Alabama is to Capeside Fish Company. Sure there are other local seafood restaurants or national chains in the area, but Capeside is simply a cut above the rest. My family and I stopped in one weeknight for dinner, and took a seat at the only table available. We were greeted as we entered, and our server arrived at our table promptly(despite the restaurant being full) to take our drink orders. Capeside wasn’t exactly what I was expecting inside. The décor is beachy and simple, which is pretty much what I anticipated, but the seating was limited. I thought this place was supposed to be a restaurant! I soon learned that Capeside is more than just a place to EAT fresh seafood — it’s a place to BUY fresh seafood as well. Customers were in and out constantly while we ate, picking up fresh seafood orders to prepare at home. By the time our drinks were delivered we’d had time to peruse the menu. My husband chose the fish tacos, and my son selected the fried shrimp basket. I went for the grilled mahi mahi with a side of macaroni and cheese. We also ordered a warm crab dip for the table, which was a spot-on pick. The dip arrived quickly and was nice and warm, with a layer of melty, delicious cheese on top. The dip was served with warm tortilla chips. Let me tell you, this dip was so good, we fought over who would get the last bite! Our entrées certainly did not disappoint. My mahi mahi was seasoned and prepared so perfectly, I wished I’d ordered a bigger portion(you get to choose the size of your serving by the ounce). The macaroni and cheese was super rich and buttery, just the way I like it. I sampled my son’s shrimp as well, and it was very tasty… not greasy at all. Before leaving, we checked out the cold case full of fresh gulf seafood. There were more than ten varieties of fish to choose from, as well as shrimp and lobster. I hear that Capeside’s owner travels down to the Gulf two to three times a week to get fresh seafood, and I it totally shows. You can just taste the freshness with every bite. I would definitely recommend Capeside Fish Company to anyone who has a hankering for the freshest seafood in town. You won’t be sorry!

Awesome seafood market and restaurant with new dishes and specials daily. Freshest raw seafood around the area. Owner makes many trips weekly to the Gulf Coast and brings seafood back for many local restaurants that serve seafood as well as his own.

We got the warm crab dip, fried shrimp, catfish, and it was all amazing. Especially the dip. Everything is super cheap and fresh, and they use local produce which is a definite plus. Best place to eat in the gadsden area. I hope they stay open!

I enjoyed the casual atmosphere and the food was incredible. The fried oysters were hot, fresh and tender. The batter was light and crispy. The service was also very attentive and good. Prices were right on the mark. I wish we could have ordered a beer though. Oysters that good deserve an ice cold beer! Dont let the storefront fool you. It looks like they are one of those beachside fish markets, and they are(their seafood is beautiful and fresh), but they are also a great little restaurant. I would jump at the opportunity to eat here again!

This is such a much needed addition to the Gadsden Area. They have fresh gulf seafood and North Carolina seafood. Order in bulk or come to have lunch.
