Had their brown stewed chicken today for lunch and it was amazing! I never write reviews but felt the need to let everyone know this was really good. I normally frequent another Jamaican spot but decided on something different and it was well worth it. I will be back this week for more.

After almost a year of being in Raleigh I finally got to this place. As always, I was ready to judge a Carribean restaurant in the«country» hard because as a previous Miami, Florida native I’ve had the best of the the best. Anyway, we ordered one spicy jerk patty to eat while we waited on our meal to be freshly cooked(tremendous plus). I cannot believe that patty was the best patty I’ve ever eaten in my LIFE! Lol. It was so good we ordered another one. Our meals were equally as tasty. I ordered the Oxtails with cabbage, rice and peas and plantains and my husband ordered the curry goat with the same sides. We always order different things so that we could eat off each other’s plates. We couldn’t wait to swap plates!

Love the atmosphere! We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome and smile! The cashier was very helpful and friendly and the food was pretty good. The jerk sauce is great.

Had the jerk chicken, rice and beans, maduros and cabbage. The flavor was excellent and huge portions! The only complaint is I felt the chicken was a little dry but the sauce made up for it.

Just moved here and this was one of my first meals. Food os okay. Coming from a Caribbean family and living in the NE, I’ve been exposed. I would return unless I find better. I’ve only had the oxtail. The gravy is a tad different than what I’m used to but good. Food is a bit overpriced maybe because West Indian food is a premium here(IDK, *shrug*)? They don’t put enough gravy over the rice and not enough plantain for me.

Decided to have a Carribean themed Christmas eve and because of reviews decided to order Jamaican food from here. We ordered a variety of food, enough for 4 adults and 2 kids which consisted of Oxtail, Curry Goat, Jerk chicken platters that come with rice and beans and cabbage. Oh and plaintains plus 2 beef patties. Also ordered white rice. Washed it down with a ting and Ginger beer. We did not done there, just called ahead to have food to go and shared at home as a feast. The portions were good and we ate all our food. We had no complaints, just was underwhelmed. Seemed to be missing something in the flavor, seasoning dept. I am used to dining on Jamaican food from living in Miami and visiting NY and my guests from the DC area. We all couldn’t put our finger on it but it was just OK. Would I go back. sure maybe for Jerk chicken and to try a lunch special at the discounted price. Would I suggest to others… sure give it a try!

The other day I had a craving for curry goat and this low key Jamaican restaurants was what Unilocaled recommended. It’s in a roadway I never go through and would never believe restaurants/stores would be in this block. I must say I was very satisfied! The goat was tender, seasoned to the T, cabbage great and rice and peas were properly cooked. I will return very soon

I ordered the mini lunch special, total cost of $ 7.00. The food tasted fine, it came in a small container with a large lemonade. I wish there was more meat within the plate. I had about two-three small pieces the length of a pink finger, one piece of plantain, a ton of rice and some cabbage. I believe the ideal of the meal is to hold you over until later.

Went here today and the food bland. They use to have great food and was one of my fav places but I’m disappointed and sad to say that I no longer recommend this restaurant

Really good food! I’ve only had Jamaican food twice so I can’t say its 100% authentic but it’s 100% delicious. I ordered large oxtails, rice and peas, cabbage and a side of curry chicken, with lemonade for 21 bucks not bad. I wish it was a little more meat less rice, great place to go after seeing a movie across the street.

Jamaican Grille is always fresh and made to order. The customer service is great! My favorite is the oxtails, plantain, carrot cake and coco bread.

This place is perfect!!! My boyfriend and I had lunch before seeing a moving across the street. To be honest I’m already thinking about going back this weekend. We had the curry chicken and the jerk chicken. Everything was amazing! The curry was perfectly seasoned and so tender. The jerk chicken also tender and went great with the side of veg. The plantains were my favorite just sweet enough! The coco bread went really well with curry. Get the lemonade!!!

Went in for a quick snack… grabbed a beef patty. It was pretty good so I stopped back in recently. I got the jerk chicken and my fiancé got the oxtail. Both were REALLYTASTY! I didn’t think the portion was quite as big as it should for the price-not enough meat, mostly rice. The plantains were delicious. Need a larger portion of cabbage, as well. Very friendly staff! Still probably the best Jamaican food I’ve ever had… except for the real thing! We will visit again!

We got the small oxtails and the curry chicken. It only took a few minute and the woman working the counting brought it right to our table. Khadija(I think that’s her name) was really sweet and knowledgeable about the food they had and didn’t have. We wanted roti and they didn’t have it which was fine since its soo labor intensive. The oxtails were delicious they were nice and hot and came with rice and peas and vegetables(cabbage with carrots). The food was perfectly seasoned with the oxtails having just the right amount of meat on them. The curry chicken was the same. Hot and delicious, just the right of seasoning. It airs on the side of being more liquid based like Indian curry than any Jamaican curry I have ever had. On the way out we ordered a mini lunch special of jerk chicken and beef patty with coco bread. The beef patty was perfect! I wasn’t too impressed by the jerk chicken. It tasted like very well seasoned rotisserie chicken and not smoked like most jerk I’ve had. Overall it was a good experience and we would definitely go back.

This is one of the best Jamaican restaurant in Raleigh. If you’ve been to Jamaica or from Jamaica and don’t know about it, now you do.

Always on the look out for ethnic food that lives up to my fantasy, I stumbled upon Jamaican Grille after reading a rav on Unilocal.Needless to say I was curious. The space is a decent size with tables for eating but no real entertainment(TV, music) for ambiance. I was fine with that because I could carry on a conversation with my lunch buddies without shouting. I tried the curry chicken and jerk chicken. One of my party ordered the oxtails. Wow. Talk about jumping right in. Both dishes were incredible. I LOVE curry and Jamaican Grille did not disappoint. The jerk seasoning was on point. Both are served with rice and beans, cooked cabbage and plantains. Um. Umm. Ummm. The dish comes as a small or large serving. The large is enough for two. Jamaican Grille is across from a Carmike movie theater so dinner and a movie is in my future. You can also order takeout which I’ve done several times. It’s worth the drive to get it.

Stopped in here just after 1p.m. The restaurant was completely dead. The guy at the register was super friendly and attentive– especially when I asked him for suggestions as to what I should order. Being bajan myself, this is the first caribbean restaurant I’ve tried since living in Raleigh, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the stewed chicken meal, which came with a side of veggies and rice. I ordered the«lunch mini» size, which offered a generous portion of food for the reasonable price of $ 6.99(drink included). The chicken was so tender that it just fell off of the bone, and the spices used to season the meat/meal were incredibly flavorful without being overbearing. The food was served hot and it was served quickly(less than a 3 minute wait). The only downside was that they do not take American Express(I wanted to charge it on the company card). The atmosphere is typical of a Jamaican restaurant(based on my previous experience eating at various caribbean restaurants throughout Brooklyn, NY). The décor is simple, and the restaurant was clean. That wasn’t much in the way of food items displayed in the cases, but what I did eat tasted fresh and delicious all the way around. They also cater. I’ll definitely be back!

My ONLY go to place for Jamaican. Food is as spicy and delicious as it is back home. I actually get 2 meals, and have a lunch the next day. and if you love Beef Patties, get there early cause they disappear VERY quickly. then again, towards the end of the day, most of the food is gone ANYWAYS. But delicious…

This is quite a find for me! Seriously! I happened to come around to the dive shop a bit early, so while I was waiting for my class to begin I strolled around this shopping center, which I have been once or twice for hooka and shooting pool. WHOKNEW in this almost abandoned shopping center across from the movie theater, there lies some authentically delicious Jerk Chicken! Well, Jamaican food is not all about jerking(sorry I cannot resist) and there are a few other choices as well on the menu here. I highly recommend Curried Goat. Curry? Jamaican? I know! But it’s very delicious. I would actually stop in weekly from now on just to get a side order of fried plantain alone! Hope they keep this place around. Oh, when you see size«small» on the menu, what that really mean is packed full of a TO-GO lunch box! I might have to see what the LARGE size is all about.
