I am staying here during renovations. The construction is not really a bother. The new rooms are… interesting. Apparently whoever designed the rooms was going for form over function. For example: There are no drawers. Not a one. Nowhere to put your folded clothing. This wouldn’t be as much an issue if… There is no place to put a suitcase. Ok, there are these two bench things in the corner, but I wanted to sit on those or something. Maybe the hotel could invest in a suitcase valet, if they can find a place to store it. Because… Half the closet now houses a fridge. So there is half a small closet to hang your clothing, and the bottom half of that space is taken up by a weird shelf thing. It is impossible to hang a pair of slacks unless they are folded in half. There is no desk. If you want to work, you have only 1 small ~18″ diameter table to work on. There is nowhere for guests to hang out. There are those weird bench things, but we had to put our suitcases on them. The bathroom now has a fancy sliding door. There is a ~1″ gap between the door and the wall. My business colleague can now experience my BMs like he is in the room with me… all the sounds and smells… and maybe even a firm peek if he walks anywhere near the bathroom! So, Marriott… it looks like you are still working on the other half the hotel. Maybe an audible is in order? You could make normal hotel rooms out of the other half of your property!

Rated this hotel a few ays ago, got a false response. In response to the t.v. issue I called downstairs with the issue and was told the not one other person in the hotel was experiencing troubles, so unless others complained my comfort was disregarded. Yet in the response the manager siad the issue was due to weather a bold and blatent lie. I was told the shuttle service went anywhere in a 5 mile radius of hotel, yet when i went the next morning to arrange shuttle service to get to work i was told it only went to air port, this made me late for work because taxis are so few and far between. Again now I am even more disgusted about this hotel and will make sure that no friends, family, assocjates, CO workers, strangers ore enemies use this chain. To treat a platinum status member like I won the room in a contest is unacceptable.

DONOTSTAY at this location now! We have just checked in; we stay at this location about 15 – 20 nights per year. Normally it is great! Right now it is under major renovations and is a HUGEMESS! Not to mention the«biker group» that is here for the weekend. My recommendation would be to call and ask #1. is your renovations complete? #2. What is your location hosting(if a weekend stay)? Seems to be a bit of confusion even with employees. When I was checking in the very nice Marriott Customer Service lady that was assisting me/checking me in(or trying to) was answering a question I was asking about what was going on and this man also behind the counter(who was dressed in a suit but not a «Marriott looking suit») very rudely interrupted her explanation to me so basically; stay some place else at least for this fall!!! The Marriott downtown is great if during the week and the Renaissance at North Hills is also a good choice while in the area.

For $ 250 a night, you get to be woken up to construction, banging hammers and all. Not to mention they put me right next door to it all as well! I would suggest waiting until they finish their renovation before staying here. Total ripoff and disappointment.

Old and outdated hotel undergoing renovations of some type as of June 2015. Heavy construction outside all day long. My room had worn out beds and moldy tile in the bathroom. Exec lounge smells like mothballs. Very poor experience at this hotel

I should add that being a Marriott Platinum member, they included breakfast in the restaurant each AM for me and my wife. Great food and a very welcoming waitstaff,

I travel to the Raleigh area several times a year for business and almost always stay at this hotel. It’s clean, the staff are friendly, they have free parking, and offer an airport shuttle(The city center Raleigh Marriott does not have free parking or a shuttle). I think the beds and bedding are extremely comfortable. I’ve never had any problems with the quality of the housekeeping. From the hotel, you can walk across the street to the Crabtree Valley Mall which gives you several options for restaurants and bars(as well as shopping). A cab ride from the hotel to downtown Raleigh is about 15 minutes. It’s a pretty convenient spot if you need to be in various sections of the city while you’re in town. The hotel is going to start a large renovation project in early 2015. So, if you’re traveling in 2015, you may take this into account. The latest information I read about this said: «…our upcoming $ 23 million renovation, expected to begin in February, 2015, and be completed in January, 2016! You will be amazed with our additional 10,000 square foot ballroom which can accommodate more than 800 people. Relax in our new infinity pool and enjoy our outdoor patio overlooking the pool. Explore in our revamped hotel lobby with a Great Room perfect for networking and socializing. Treat your palate in our new restaurant and bar with a private dining room. Experience our brand new state of the art fitness center. Unwind after a long day in one of our updated 375 sleeping rooms with a new 47 inch LED high definition TV. This link shows some pictures of the planned outcome: Update on renovations(01Mar15): Work has started in the lower lobby so there is a wall up blocking the middle of the main lobby. The work on the bar/restaurant area will likely start by the end of March and room renovations will be going on from April through November. During that time, capacity will be significantly reduced so if you’re looking to make a reservation during that time, best to do it early.

So, I stayed for the night after a holiday party at a friend’s house. Let me tell you about my visit. My room was 355 and it had a clogged drain in the bathtub, a dead battery in the smoke detector that kept beeping, and the carpet smelled like someone smoked in the room. I am normally a huge fan of marriott and am an Elite member with them, so I’ve seen all kinds of rooms. But, there was no excuse for this. The location is great for shopping and dining options. The parking lot is huge! And, the hotel is easy to find. Those are the positives. I would certainly stay here again, but not without a dramatic upgrade first. The front desk team are super nice and hospitable. I cannot wait to see their renovations they have planned.

Great hotel and my go to place when staying in the Raleigh area. Staff are always pleasant — whether it’s the Managers, Bar Staff, Restaurant, Reception or House keepers. Location is right opposite the Crabtree Mall which has several restaurants to choose from including Cheesecake Factory, Brio Italian Grill, Red Monkey Tavern. The location gives you quick access to major area roadways as well. Food at the hotel that I have tried has been good thus far. The hotel is planning to undergo some pretty extensive renovations — moved back from 2014 to what I am told is now 2015 and the picture mock-ups you can see in the lobby area illustrate the great changes this will bring. The concierge lounge service overall is great — especially the guys working it during the morning and evening. Rooms are very comfortable, a good size and perfectly setup for the business traveler with convenient /numerous plugs for all the various gadgets we carry around. The beds are extremely comfortable as well. Free wifi in the lobby but paid in the rooms — I just accept this is the Marriott way and there are more important things I look to in a hotel for an overall review than the wifi options. The gym is average to me — and I hope that perhaps as part of the renovations they give this a bit of a makeover. Overall a great hotel with fantastic customer service.

I stayed on the concierge level and the staff that works the lounge is by far the best. Both gentleman were extremely friendly, helpful, and know how to take care of people. The location of the hotel is excellent too. Only 20 minutes from the airport and right across the street from a nice mall. I would definitely come back.

I don’t get it why this hotel doesn’t have a higher rating, I stayed here earlier this year and had a really good experience! My wife and I were here for two nights and really enjoyed ourselves! The staff was very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. The location is great, right across the mall with plenty of options for shopping and restaurants right across the street. We had the Shop til You Drop-room package which gave us an extra 100USD to spend at the mall and that certainly came in handy. The hotel is also close to RTP and the airport. The hotel also offers a free shuttle. I enjoyed the pool a lot — bigger than what I have seen at other hotels in this price category, and there is both outdoor and indoor pool. The public areas of the hotel and the rooms are very clean, the rooms are of a decent size and everything was working without issues. The front desk staff seemed a bit lost at times as they didn’t seem as knowledgable as I had expected when I was asking about the immediate area. The breakfast was good, although somewhat pricy at 16USD per person. I felt like we really got good value for our money for a reasonable price, there was also free wifi in the room, yes!!! I hate when hotels charge for that. I will for sure stay here again when I am in the area.

Stayed here over the weekend while in town visiting family. The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was very clean. Can’t say much about the amenities because I only stayed 1 night, but they all looked nice. There is also a very nice shopping mall across the street. My only real issue was with my neighbor who woke me up at 7 am with the TV on full blast. I was pretty upset because my girlfriend was sick and wanted to rest. I called the front desk and within 5 minutes security was knocking on my neighbors door telling them to turn it down. I will definitely try to stay here again next time I’m in the area.

Great, convenient location near rhe airport and right across from the Crabtree mall with good shopping and restaurant’s. Customer service is top notch here. Every one asking if I needed help or if they could get me something constantly. Hotel and room are updated. Beds are average.. not super comfy but not hard as rocks either. Checkin was a fast along with checkout. There was one day the complimentary coffee was out and they bought me free starbucks!!! And a free bottled water for my troubles. Now that’s amazing customer service!!! I would stay again when back in the area.

The staff is great. The location pretty awesome. But can they please fix the Hotel entrance? I checked in at the desk, which by the way looks like they have valet, cause its far as hell from any of the parking, but they don’t! You have to drive around back and look for the awning marked Hotel Entrance. Not my idea of convenient. The don’t have automatic doors and you have two sets to go through. I really think they need to remodel/reconfigure the whole lobby entrance and parking situation. The room is very standard for a Marriott. And don’t go looking for food at the concierge, there ain’t none!

From the moment I hit the lobby I was greeted and treated like a very welcomed guest. All the staff that spoke with were kind and continually asked me what could be done to make my stay more enjoyable. I would definitely stay here again. I love Marriott Hotels. Lot’s of shopping and restaurants just across the street, so once you park your car you don’t have to drive to food if you don’t want to.

This hotel is in a very convenient location, 2 minutes from I440, and a 10−15-minute drive from most downtown Raleigh businesses. It’s nestled in a quiet, wooded corner of a busy street, directly across the street from a major mall. There’s ample parking and the parking lot is well-lit so it felt safe. The side entrance, which you’ll be using if you park your car, requires a key entry after hours. The front desk folks were welcoming and accommodating(I asked for a map of the area and, though they had run out of them, they promised to bring one up to my room. By the time my wife and I parked the car and made our way up to the room, a map had been placed under our door.). The wake-up calls we requested were timely and completely automated. And wireless turned out to be for a $ 12 fee, which we weren’t aware of, and didn’t want to pay on principle. The front desk folks gave us a free day of wifi, which was nice. The room wasn’t anything to write home to Unilocal about. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were either enormous and stiff-couch-cushion-like, or small and with the fluffiness and support of a towel. The flatscreen TV had about 35 channels, the nightstands and desk had plenty of outlets, the shower had great water pressure, the iron worked, as did the coffee machine. The hotel features an indoor/outdoor pool and an adjacent whirlpool hot tub. The pool was great; no complaints. There’s also a 2-room gym with maybe 10 machines if you feel like working out. The hotel also has a restaurant and overpriced room service, but I suggest you head out and try some of the great Raleigh restaurants instead of staying in. That’s what we did. All in all, our experience was nothing terribly negative, and hardly anything special. We reserved a room through Priceline for $ 90/night. I think, depending on the time of year, you could probably have an offer accepted for lower. This was a pretty fair price for what we got. Any more and I’d think twice about it. I would certainly never pay the $ 219 the hotel’s website is advertising.

Spent 19 nights here on a recent business trip. Very nice location across the street from the Crabtree Mall near the research triangle area. I was placed in a corner unit with balcony on the concierge floor. right next to the concierge actually. FYI… a little loud when the food was delivered to them…3 times a day. The staff were very pleasant, personable, & accommodating. Though the hotel is a little aged the staff maintained it quite well. I would stay again.
