Shanghai Chinese Food

It’s pretty much the worst Chinese food I have had. Everything was bland and not cooked well. Chicken was like rubber. I ordered steak and onions, got about 3 pieces of grizzle and a pile of onions. Please don’t waste your money or your time

Nothing special about this place. Ordered three items, all were edible but have had better elsewhere in the area, there’s just not a standout Chinese restaurant option in Ramsey, unfortunately. And for the price you can do better. Might give them another try on a busy night to see how they perform under pressure unrelated to the holiday season.

Great if you’re looking for that New York style fast Chinese food. Sesame chicken was great, egg rolls were crispy, and the vegetable dumplings had a good filling which I think is relatively rare.

I think they have new owners. Food’s been terrible…

Unfortunately this is one of the «best» Chinese foods in the Ramsey area that’s why I keep ordering food from them. But the food quality and service are inconsistent. Typical American Chinese food, heavy sauces and fried greasy foods.
Sometimes they would forget the complimentary rice in your order.
Sometimes they would forget to give you spoons and forks.

This place doesn’t deserve a half of a star. The food is way too salty and/​or lacking in any flavor besides salt. We called for lunch and ordered two combo meals and two regular meals. My order was suppose to be a pork mei fun with extra veggies. My coworker ordered the boneless spare rib combo.
Needless to say the meals were terrible in taste and service was even worse. My meal turned out to be a combo meal with rice and no pork. Why in God’s name would I order a noodle dish with rice? It isn’t even on their lunch menu! The meal doesn’t even exist in print! In addition, my coworkers «boneless» spare ribs were not boneless.
The man on the phone kept insisting that we ordered a non existent item. AND he insisted that I should cover the difference of price even though they got the order wrong. NEVER go here for a meal. You will be extremely disappointed in the quality of food and the people.

Telephone order — told food would be ready in 15 min. I arrived 15 min. later and waited an additional 30 min. Appeared to be new owners. The nice family with 2 kids wasn’t there. Unfriendly, stressed man and woman working the front. Woman was wiping her nose, coughing and touching all the food (yuck!) When my order came out, they let it sit while they answered the phone. Food was mediocre. I won’t be back.

The food is mediocre, nothing special, and every time my office orders lunch they mess it up. This time we even asked them to read back the order, they read it back correctly, but we got it missing one of the soups and an entire order of fried dumplings. When we called they claimed we never ordered the dumplings… even though they read it back to us. Literally EVERY time, they forget something. Our office will not be using them anymore, it’s a shame because we give them at least one huge order every week. Enough is enough, we’ll use someone who cares about keeping customers.

I’ve ordered from Shanghai for the past five years. If you’re looking for cheap and easy chinese take-​out, this is definitely the best place in the area. Their selection is similar to most other chinese take-​outs, but the selection of their lunch specials is larger than most, including happy family and seafood special. Best of all, they have excellent Dim Sum, which is hard to find. The people are very kind, and always willing to customize an order. Delivery time on average is 30 – 45 minutes. Since I attend Ramapo College, I’m often looking for good chinese delivery. I’ve ordered from them 100+ times easily, and I’m yet to have a bad experience with them.

The food is decent but the delivery service is wildly varied. If you order during lunchtime, it could take anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour to come. I ordered for dinner and after a wait of an hour and a half was told that it would be another 25 minutes. 2 hours is unacceptable for delivery!

It is conveniently located on the main strip. Menu selection was as expected and prices reasonable.(4 stars)
Came in during lunch rush hour and I was the only customer. (not a good sign)
Food was ok… While the chicken and vegetables seemed to be fresh, the rice had the signs of having been reheated.(3 stars)
Appearance and cleanliness was average. They stock their soda cans in the main area by the window and had old newspapers on the front counter. (2 stars)
Atmosphere was friendly and polite.(4 Stars).
