Yellow Vase… what a great little place. Excuse the unintended rhyme. The décor of the restaurant seemed to have a French feel to it. But being that I’m not a French expert in any way it may have just been the impression it left one me. It was nice and cozy. Yellow roses in vases here and there. Interesting decorations. Framed paintings on the walls and such. Cool step up into the dining area. You walk up to the counter and place your order. Be careful because the delicious desserts in the display case may get you into a lot of pastry heaven trouble. I orders what they refer to as a Spanish Latte. Although I’m not a Spanish expert either, I’m gonna take their word for it. Regardless, the Spanish Latte is one of the best Latte’s I’ve ever had. We tried the pouched eggs with sausage and country style potatoes. We also had the chorizo scramble. Both were accompanied by a nice light salad. The food was very flavorful, very fresh. Everything almost melts in your mouth with such a great combination of flavors. We’ve been here a few times and tried several other entries and all there is to say is you can’t go wrong with anything you choose. Definitely going back for more. Maybe we’ll sit out on the quaint patio next time.

I love this place and just wanted to say thank you so much. My friend is in the hospital and asked me to pick up a sandwich. She wanted a change from hospital food. The service was so fast and very friendly. When they heard I was taking a friend food to the hospital they threw in dessert. How thoughtful !!! I will definitely be back. Wonderful service.

Decided to try this pretty little yellow house for breakfast. First, there is no wait staff, you order at a counter. Prices are way over the top for service like this. Food was not great, California Omelet was ok. Benedict Florentine was not worth the time. Poached eggs were well done, soft was ordered and the salmon was terrible, cold and slimmy. Yuck! It is cute inside but, very, very noise. Too expensive for no service. $ 40 breakfast? I think not. Disappointing, not recommended, won’t go back.

Great place to hang out with friends and watch the boats and cyclists go by. The food is very good. They have some gluten free options available. We tried the gluten free chocolate cake today, so awesome to have something sweet to try. They serve a variety of omelets and sandwiches. I had the California omelete and Mary had the Monte Cristo, both were excellent. They serve a small mixed green salad with every dish– even breakfast? A little out of the ordinary, but I like it. The coffee menu is also diverse. If you are looking for a unique place to try, give Yellow Vase a try.

We live in a walking distance from this place and it has been a great addition to our community. Yes it is a bit pricey but I guess I’ll take convenience over the price.

If you were to ask me to describe this place in a word, I’d tell you to go find something better to do than be the verbal equivalent of the TL;DR generation. If you were to return later with a gun, and ask me the same question, I’d inquire if that gun were real, and if so, if you had acquired it through legal means, and if so, if that gun were loaded, and if so, why you were so obsessed with single word descriptions of places that plainly deserve more? If you were to confirm that yes, the gun is real, yes, you got it through legal channels, yes, it is loaded, and to just answer the damn question already, I’d wet my lips, breath deeply, swallow hard, fearing this would be my last, and croak out, «Whimsical.» Seriously… fishbowl sized lattes, bakery case, fancy sodas… what more do you need in life? Oh, and it’s a flower store… so that’s a thing. Oh, and all the omelettes come with salad and bread… shut up, that’s rad! Oh, and men might feel very out of place here. Don’t panic! That’s just culture and whimsy… you’ll get used to it. Oh, and although it looks like a pickup counter, the staff is nice enough to bring your food to your table, so don’t stand there looking lost. Have a seat and look out of place instead! Would be five stars, but the place gets busy, so it’s a little too loud for one to truly feel wistful.

This was the third time visiting because my fiancé and I loved it the first time we came here. Delicious food and pastries, great friendly staff, and a beautiful view of the ocean from a slight distance. The food can be a little pricey, but its deliciousness and atmosphere make up for it. Can’t wait to go back again!

Delicious food a little over priced to pay forty dollars for my husband and I to have breakfast. But again amazing food :) We ordered the Mexicana omelette my husband no cheese and I added chorizo they charged us $ 3 extra to do that. We paid $ 12 for an omelette, potatoes, salad, and a baguette. So if you are in the mood to splurge definitely a fun cute place and if it’s not splurging to you enjoy!

Thought it was time for an update on Yellow Vase. The atmosphere is cozy and always best to go during the week to avoid crowds(although that’s true of almost any destination) Yellow Vase is not a greasy spoon and serves healthier options however not friendly with substitutions and for example if one wants a substitute of fruit for potatoes — one pays an extra $ 3.00 — I did so but I know of very few restaurants where substitutions require such a sizable fee for doing so. Yellow Vase specialty coffees are very good and«regular» coffee is standard coffee shop fare — frankly the best coffee I EVER had was at a Marmalade Café up north. At Yellow Vase you place your order, pay then go to your table of choice — and are served. Will I return? Probably just for a specialty coffee and dessert.

Food was great, but this is not a full service restaurant. Order at the counter, but you’re not really waited on. I prefer to have an actual server for each table. Girl at the counter had a bit of an… attitude.

I adore this place! So happy I chose it when I was deciding what to eat with my dad. The way it works is you order first at the register and pay, and they’ll bring the food to you. I’m the type of person who likes breakfast all day. Thus, I got the Californian Omelette which consisted of turkey, bacon, avocado, tomato, sour cream, and swiss cheese. It comes with salad, bread, and roasted potatoes. It came fast. I could tell the food was good quality. It was amazing. The décor was very fancy as well. Felt like I was in France. Very yellow, hence the restaurant name.

Picked up some items from the bakery on an off-day. Ambience/Décor: 4⁄5 Totally unassuming from the outside, a surprisingly lush, welcoming split-level interior. Service: 4⁄5 Fruit tart: 4⁄5 Crust not as buttery/rich/cohesive as some others I’ve had. Fruit MUCH fresher, though. Not bathed in glaze like those I see at too many other bakeries. Overall, a step up from what you’d get at the grocery store, but I still have yet to find a truly good one in SoCal [including Porto’s]. Flourless chocolate cake: 3⁄5 Good quality ingredients, as with their other items, but too much frosting [if it was cream, I wouldn’t have minded as much,] not enough density to the cake, and a little too«milk chocolatey» rather than«dark chocolatey» on the flavor scale, for my taste. Cream-filled Croissant: 5⁄5 One of the best pastries I have ever had. Up there with Porto’s fruit-and-cream cakes and the one tart [chocolate] I’ve ever had in France. So good I may have to delay my Smart & Final runs past 7 pm so I am not tempted every time I pass by! Overall: 4 stars Easily better than Amalfitano’s, based on the gingerbread cookies I made the mistake of buying there during a recent holiday season. Highest quality pastries in the area.

Now that I’ve had the amazing food I can give 5 stars! So good! I’ve never had any place cook poached Eggs perfectly, they have here though they also have great service and are very very cautious using gloves and making sure everything is very clean. When you’re paying a good amount of money for a meal that’s what you definitely love to see :) thank y’all for being so awesome!

We went to celebrate our Valentine’s Day breakfast at what used to be our favorite spot. We have raved about Yellow Vase to our family and friends. Today we noticed they were a little busy but waited patiently to order because this was unusual. We were not acknowledged for at least 5 minutes as we watched Nick make 4 Carmel hot chocolates. Nick then said I’ll be right with you. Still we waited. Then the phone rang and Nick proceeded to answer the phone take the customers order telling them their order would be ready in 10 minutes and then proceeded to tell us to wait a little bit more so he could deliver the drinks to the table. At that point we walked out. You talk about feeling unimportant and they could care less about us as customers– absolutely unbelievable and unacceptable!!! We will not frequent our in town Yellow Vase as the Palos Verdes branches have not treated us like this. I called today 2−18−16 to follow up with the in store manager to share our experience. I was transferred on the phone .and accidentally hung up on but when I reached the in store manager it just so happened it was Nick. I think that says a lot! So this is how the manager treats a guest. I offered the suggestion for future reference that perhaps if you have somebody live and in person who has been waiting to order and the phone rings maybe you can let the caller know there’s one person ahead of you and then proceed to take the order of the person who was there first and standing and waiting. Nick did apologize and said he hoped we would give them another chance.

Cute setting, but over priced and undesirable food. I ordered soup & salad. Worst soup ever, watery and no flavor, and my husband ordered savory crepes which were just ok. We spent $ 35 for lunch, so I expected more for our $. Coffee was not smooth but bitter. Really really disappointed because I was looking for a new local lunch spot. Will not be coming back.

I was greeted with a smile and it went down hill from there. I ordered the Veggie omelette it came with baby greens, seasoned potatoes &3 slices of French bread. The food was average at best. Thank God I brought my travel size Tajin. While ordering I asked the young lady taking my order, if I substitute more potatoes instead of the baby greens, OMG she acted as if my request was unreasonable– so I cancelled that request and agreed to have the meal as printed in the menu. When I completed my order, the young lady tossed #23 at me and ordered me to put it on my table. She then placed a cup of coffee and a cup of orange juice on the counter next to the #23 and said«you can sit anywhere!» If I had 3 hands this would have been fine. I had my messenger bag, cellphone, the #23, a cup of coffee and a cup of OJ. The young lady watched me juggle all these things without an offer to help me to a table«anywhere.» My leisure Thursday morning brunch was less than pleasant. The yellow vase sucked! I won’t be back. If the employee was having a bad day, I hope it gets better! Duces‼

This restaurant is so cute! I had the 2×2 breakfast and it was so good! And huge I couldn’t finish all of it even though I tried to. My boyfriend had the Monte cristo and loved it as well. We both agreed the French toast is amazing and the bacon was so so. The only downside is no mimosas for Sunday brunch :(. But we will be back for sure! That’s how yummy the food was!

Excited to see another Yellow Vase location open, this one being closer to my house! It is a cute and decorative café with plenty of parking! It’s not the typical type of diner we are used to seeing in San Pedro. The menu at Yellow vase is much smaller, and the building itself is more upscale. I found my experience at Yellow Vase today to be pretty consistent with my experiences at the other locations. The only downside is that the food can be a bit pricey for ‘order at the counter’ restaurants. I ordered the Mexicana omelette, which consists of onions, tomatoes and cheese, topped with avocado. I opted to exclude the peppers. My dish was also served with a side of potatoes, salad and bread. I loved everything about my meal, except the roasted potatoes and salsa. The salsa tasted a bit off/old, and the potatoes were seasoned with a few herbs that burned during the baking process, making the flavor un-enjoyable. I also wish they knew to serve bread/jam with the bread automatically. We had to get up and walk back to the front counter to ask for these items, as there is no formal waiter service. My dad got the 2 by 2 dish, which he enjoyed. The only downside was the bacon, which appeared to be baked. When served, all the pieces of bacon were stuck together, making it one bacon pancake. He had to cut the bacon pancake into pieces, which was a pain after a while. Overall our experience was good, and we are excited to come back and try other dishes.

This place has some good breakfast only on the expensive side . I had their panini breakfast add bacon the bread was grilled perfect, bacon was crispy and the avocado was fresh every ingredient together made the sandwich good even my husband said he should of ordered that instead of his omelette . He ordered the Mexicana omelete it was very simple no meat good but not as good as my sandwich lol . I have heard about their waffles being good so we decided to give it a try it was good . Spanish latte its what we usually order when we go to any of the Yellow vase locations . I have had desserts in this locations when they barely open and i cant remember the names but i remember the 3 leches was good that always happens to me when i dont write reviews right away :( Any of the Yellow vase locations has good service and they are willing to help you out if you feel confused with their menu, great customer service, good coffee, good food thats all you need :)

First of all, this place is expensive! With that said, I guess the ambiance and the cute décor makes up for it, but not by much. They have a lot of brunch options like paninis, cakes, pastries and coffee. Their pastries and cakes looks really good and I have yet to try them when my wallet gets a bit fatter. I got the french toast with ham and cheese in between(forgot what it was called) and it came with syrup on the side. Overall, I really like the sweet and salty combination, but it was nothing too special. Just tastes like a regular toasted sandwich, which was good, but not exceptional.
