I doubt I’ll go back to this place. I only wish my experience could’ve been like the previous reviewer. I walk in and find myself to be the second customer in line waiting to place an order. It was a solid 15 minutes before anyone took my order. I order half a dozen(6) large males. I’m told they’re only sold as bushels. I think nothing of it and order a half dozen of the medium males. The young lady behind the metal fence(yes half the counter is guarded by a security fence) tells me the same; that they can only be purchased in bushels. I was visibly disappointed and surprised. The young lady walked to the back and spoke to someone who I presume was a manager and came back to take my order of half a dozen males. When I received the order, another young woman handed me the bag and informed me not to tie it up because the crabs would overcook. Ironically she had rolled the top of the brown bag up herself so no steam could escape. It was all kind of surreal. The real kicker came when I got home. I dumped the crabs out the bag to find that 2⁄6 crabs were females. For some, thats no big deal but I personally don’t prefer females crabs. There is also a significant difference in price in the two sexes so I feel cheated. On top of that they do not follow the unspoken rule of providing seven crabs when six are ordered. You’ll find most establishments do that as a courtesy in case one of the crabs isn’t good. Funny thing is I had noticed a very elaborate return and refund policy when I was in the store. It read like a legal contract on a dry erase board. The nerve. *P.S. The seasoning they use is very similar to what is used at the Windsor Inn, not too far from this crab shack. It is a spicy seasoning with sugar added. It is not the«traditional» MD crab seasoning.

They offer different sizes of crabs here and we would usually pick the second to largest. They are also super accommodating and let us get the buy 6/get 6 free deal. Usually, it’s a buy a dozen, get a dozen deal, but there’s no way we can eat 24 crabs between the two of us so they cut the price in half. The crab meat is also so sweet and their old bay seasoning isn’t too spicy, like some of the other crab shacks around the area. Another thing I noticed is that their crab meat isn’t watery, which means the crabs haven’t been sitting in a steam pot all day– PHEW! We only get the males and they gladly pick them out for us. The price varies: I would say we pay $ 50 for a dozen, which is a pretty great deal! One downfall– their hours are really strange. Sometimes they just aren’t open(maybe when their fishermen don’t get any crabs), but it’s a hassle because it’s a far drive for us and the other crab shacks are much more expensive. I would really recommend calling ahead just to make sure they are open, especially with how volatile the crab market has been these past few years.
