I had the bun moc, which is the pork meatball noodle soup. It came with two different kinds of meatballs, the plain pork meatballs and pork meatballs with woodear mushrooms. The broth was tasty but not too salty. Excellent meal for only $ 8!

You’ll find simple, fresh home cooked Vietnamese food from this place. Comfort food at its best. The bun rieu is a must try from here. It’s a perfect balance of salty and sour noodle soup with tomatoes, crab, shrimp and meat. The banh mis are good too, my favorite though is the grilled chicken, I think it’s a lemon grass chicken, very different but delish! Chicken is always fresh, lean and tender. The original cold cut banh mi I find a little bland, I don’t know if it’s the patte they use or the butter but it’s not as good as other places that I’ve tried. I had a mango smoothie today since they ran out of water melon which was good but a bit watered down and just seemed very bare without the boba or pearls, I’m not normally a fan of boba. More flavors like lychee or Logan would be nice, even if it’d be seasonal for summer. The place is family run and the husband and wife are always friendly and nice.

Delicious bun rieu. Get the large bowl. Delicious and worth it. Sweet and flavorful grilled pork with just the right amount of ginger on a baguette.

Good spot for cheap lunch. I’m not too familiar with Vietnamese food but the subs here are all good and like $ 5 or $ 6. Thai iced tea and smoothies are good too.

Don’t get me wrong. The owners are really nice and friendly, but the quality of the banh mi has gone down. The price has increased by a bit. I’m a regular at this place and spend about $ 15 – 20 each time. I normally get a grill pork banh mi and 3 egg rolls. The portions in the banh mi has got kind of light. The rolls are really hard and chewy to eat. It hurts my mouth to eat. I had fresh rolls and never had this issue. The last few times that I got egg rolls, they looked old and broken. They had no issue giving damage egg rolls that were burnt. I have not been to this place in weeks because of the quality that I got the last few times. I want to give them my business, but I’m not going to spend my money for poor quality.

Small family owned restaurant! The food here is amazing. Unlike other vietnamese places full of msg, Phos here are homemade!!. So it’s tasty enough and not as overwhelming as other Viet restaurants. The staff is friendly. We tried this place on a whim and have gone back several times since then. Sad to hear that they are closing for 5 weeks because they have a business trip to Vietnam. Will reopen end of May 2016. But can’t wait to go back again!

This place is so good I came here twice in one day. It’s a small family owned place and the whole family was just really nice. I got bun bo hue, bun rieu, grilled pork banh mi, cold cut banh mi and 3 egg rolls and can chrysanthemum tea all for $ 25. Great service, great food and bang for your buck. Highly recommend

I was passing by and decided to Unilocal a place to grab a quick bite. I’m glad the banh mi gods brought me to this place. The BF and I got the cold cut and grilled pork. There’s something the owners are putting in these sandwiches that make them very distinct from the ones you get from Chinatown. Maybe it’s the sauce? These sandwiches have lots of meat, the bread is fresh and has a good crunch, and it’s not overpowered by the veggies. The pork is very savory. The price is about the same as any other spot: $ 3.75 for the cold cut and $ 3.95 for the grilled pork. Seating is limited to the booth and a few small tables next to the wall. The owners were both present when we went and they were nothing but courteous and friendly :)

Wow! What an awesome sub shop. The food was delicious with well balanced flavors. I had the Bún Bò Hu(Spicy Hue Soup) and it did not disappoint. It was 4⁄5 on the spicy scale — not overpowering, but noticeable, and it had a subtle lemongrass flavor, and yummy beef and noodles. My husband got the Bánh Mì Heo Nng(Grilled Pork Banh Mi) which was also fantastic — he just corrected me, «spectacular». The pork had a great flavor, being charcoal grilled. The prices are very fair, the food to table time is super quick, and the staff are very friendly! I wish I lived closer so I could come by often.

I cannot recommend the people and service at this small sub place enough. They are incredibly easy and enjoyable to work with, even on a last minute schedule with a large order. As the owner told me, «Life is already hard enough, we aren’t trying to make it any harder.»

Five stars as advertised. Friendly family owned atmosphere, prices extremely fair and food is Delicious with a Captial D. Menu is sort of short, but that actually helps me out as they have pretty much narrowed it down to the most popular dishes I’d usually consider anyway. I’ve never asked for anything not on the menu, but it seems like the kind of place that’ll make your favorite Viet dish from home if it’s not on the menu, just to accommodate you.

You would think that I would have been prepared, when the sign says Saigon Subs, that what I’d be presented with would be extra-ordinary. But it was, so unexpected, the bold, bright, rich flavor hidden inside that flaky roll. A submarine sandwich, with ribbons inside of smokey candy-sweet pork, roasted, chopped and grilled up hot. Lining that soft, fine crumb baguette is a rich, sweetened pale mayo, a garnish of cool cucumber and jalapeño slice, a micro spear of sweet/sour pickled carrot and daikon, and a sprig of cilantro or three. Knockout sandwich A+

This is one of my favorite places to go when I am rushed for time or just craving a great banh mi. I always get the grilled pork banh mi with jalapeños and I tried the avocado smoothie today. The sandwich itself is on a nice crusty, toasty, buttery, baguette. They take out some of the bread in the middle so they can fit more filling :). The sandwich is always made to order and for an amazing price: $ 3.95. You just can’t beat that for the price or taste. I’ve never had and avocado smoothie before but this one was really good. It was nice and creamy and not overly sweet either. I definitely would recommend this joint to anyone.

I love that I can drive 15 minutes to Randolph to get my banh mi fix. The menu is small compared to the usual Vietnamese place but I get exactly what I want each time. Items I have tried: Banh mi with beef, beef phở, spring rolls and fried egg rolls. The owner is friendly and talks to us every time we go there. Will keep coming!

It was very delicious and served very quickly. The store is family owned and they put a ton of effort into their customer service and making their patrons happy. The food was delicious, but I would love to go back just because their customer service was so great

did end up ordering the banh mi and both kinds of rolls for a party few months ago; everything was packed and labeled with thoughts(complete with arrows and stuff) — thumbs up for that. food was tasty and gone before everything else. went and ordered lunch for pickup last week; again food was ready when i arrived, pretty much just paid and left. owner gentleman was still friendly as heck, part of me is not quite used to this hospitality! LOL the place is literally a mile(or less!) off the highway. could be a pain making a left turn onto R28S afterwards esp during pm hours(as i have done before), but returning to highway via R28N is not a problem at all since that’s the side the store is on. pretty much got one of each kind off the entrée menu: shaved pork on rice, chicken congee, beef phở, spring roll, fresh roll, and red bean shake. all came to $ 30~. a steal considering i have had to pay over $ 20 for 3 of above at Phở So 1 down by town center. phở is always tricky for take out as the noodle tends to stick together, some can become undone when you put it back into the broth, but that’s a gamble. meanwhile, there’s raw beef sitting in the box — kind of gross if you try to take that home on a hot summer day. i like how they seem to have blanched the beef here so it’s not completely raw, yet still rare enough to be dipped into the soup without overcooking it. though the beef was of the stir fry variety(just thinner), not the round ultra thin ones i have had at many other places. in here, you don’t get the different parts(ex. brisket, tendon, etc) to choose from either. for $ 8, it’s a meh overall. they do throw in a couple of pork meatballs(likely prepackaged stuff) in the broth, though. chicken congee looked blah but was actually packed with flavor — i’m guessing fried shallot being a secret ingredient bc i certainly tasted it. for $ 5, it’s a ok. i generally prefer the Cantonese style congee which has a thicker consistency; this one is a bit more watery, like a minestrone soup or sorts. pork rice had the same grilled flavors to it, except you get shaved meat here instead of a full chop at many other places. price is fair at $ 6.50 though. $ 3.25 red bean smoothie without pearls came on par, and was a much needed treat for the day despite the freezing temperatures and mountains of snow outside. they keep the drinks cold in the fridge for you, and sometimes they may forget to take it out after it’s been sitting in there a while — happens to everybody. so if you don’t want to loop back for it after you get home or be pissed that you have to skip it now after craving it for weeks, just make sure you have it before you leave. all things considered, i still like this place, and for some reason i like it a lot. maybe the pricing has something to do with it? haha. but the humble, mild, friendly gentleman who runs the shop is definitely another contributing factor.

While out running some errands in the rain yesterday my husband and I thought big bowls of hot and spicy phở would be perfect for a late lunch. The Unilocal app led us to N&H Saigon Subs and we were not led astray. As most of us know by know, we shouldn’t be put off by restaurants located in strip malls and this was no exception. N&H, named by using the first initials of the husband and wife owners, is small inside but with ample seating both at the counter or at tables and chairs around the perimeter of the room. The owners are charming and accommodating. Noting that I must have looked chilled given the raw weather outdoors, we were directed to a table right near the heating element. Perfect! The menu includes several varieties of Banh Mi, an assortment of phở, and some entrees like rice or noodles with beef, pork or chicken and some appetizers like shrimp, tofu, and spring rolls. There is Chicken Congee on the menu which I am determined to try on another visit. My husband and I each ordered big bowls of the Hue Spicy phở filled with pork, noodles, tofu and other delights in a delicious broth. It was really tasty and clearly good for what ails you which for my husband was the beginning of a scratchy throat that morning. The heat of the soup and the spiciness were very healing he said. We also ordered two banh mi… one with cold cuts and the other with grilled pork. I tasted both banh mi which were delicious but my favorite was the grilled pork. The prices here are almost insanely reasonable and I do suggest over-ordering as a result because I bet you too will want to take food home for later consumption. The bowl of soup was so big that I had a lot leftover and it was graciously transferred to a container for me. As well, there was an additional half of each banh mi that my husband had not finished and was also kindly packaged up to take with him. There are an assortment of smoothies and bubble teas with or without pearls or jelly for 3.25−4.00 dollars. There is water and soda too. We got bottles of water for just an additional 75 cents with the purchase of the banh mi. The kindness of the owners and their clear desire to make sure we were happy, comfortable and well-fed was so appreciated. The owners are the proud parents of two sons both of whom are in the US Marines, photos of which are hanging in the restaurant. This couple who came to the US from Vietnam have opened up a wonderful shop that they clearly take much pride in. As well, it’s clear they’ve raised two amazing sons. We’re excited to come back to N&H for more delicious food and to help support this terrific local business.
