Service was good. Beer was good. Food? Well… The schnitzel is not schnitzel. Their version is a flour battered and fried pork chop. Bland as paper. You need the beer mustard snd sauerkraut to make it taste. They say its german, but no way. Maybe the bbq was better, but i opted for the schnitzel. Avoid the schnitzel.

I used to love this place, but it seems like every time I go back it gets a little worse. Service was average this time but food quality keeps going down.

I had the fish and chips and calamari to start with. Calamari was good, lightly battered and fried to perfection. While the fish n chips weren’t terrible, they weren’t great. The service was excellent though, and so was the supercharged IPA. I would come back for the ambience and beer, not sure about the food…

Ive been going to The Firehouse Brewing Co on and off for 20 years. Each time I go, it gets worse and worse. An Old time favorite like the creamy artichoke dip has declined in quantity and quality,(almost seems watered down.) Last night I ordered chicken nachos, having to pay extra for jalapeños, then even more to add sour cream. Obviously, I had not read the description close enough. They arrived with shredded barbecue chicken on them, so I asked if the waitress would mind replacing them with no meat. They then arrived with sweet pinto beans on them, as if they opened a can of baked beans and rinsed them. WORST nachos ever. On the visit I had prior to last night, months ago, the waiter asked if he could ask my daughter and I a personal question. Like a dummy I said, «sure.» He then proceeded to ask me for a piece of chewing gum, then another for his girlfriend… perhaps the owners should focus on one restaurant rather than several mediocre ones.

Carry out order on a Friday night. Got two burgers. Cold and nasty by the time we got there…

The Howard Johnson front desk staff suggested this place! And it sure is a very interesting place. It was one a fire station, but now a bar and brewing company! Pretty cool set up, but the food was alright. Had the buffalo burger.

This is decent at best bar food. The first two times I came here I got a really solid buffalo burger, with okay sides. The third time I came my burger was not cooked evenly and neither were the burgers of the people I was with. My baked bean side was severely undercooked. It was like the cooks didn’t care. I would give it two and a half if they allowed half stars.

We’re new to the Rapid City area, and since we moved here a little over a month ago, I had gotten used to the less-than-warm reception servers at restaurants have been giving us. So when we dined at the Firehouse Brewing Company and was served by Sierra, I was so pleasantly surprised. She was warm, bubbly, attentive, and inviting. Great service makes such a difference! The food was also fantastic; we can’t wait to go back!

Excellent food and service. I had the Honey Badger and the Semper Fi. We just had appetizers for lunch; calamari and mushrooms. This was the first time we have had lunch here, usually we are here for dinner. The vibe during lunch is definitely more relaxed. How I enjoy downtown during the weekdays, when no one is around. We will surely be back soon.

Location: A Décor/history: A Food: D The food is at its peak average, on a bad day its horrible. The location and tourists are the only thing that keeps this place open. I never choose this place, I only go if a friend insists. I always want the food to be good but its just food service or sysco brand frozen crap.

I had a chance to visit this joint, being in town on a business trip. The first brewpub, and an intriguing building, so why not? I sat at the bar, which isn’t typical for me, since I like to people watch, but since this bar was in the center of the floor, I went for it. I was greeted by the bartender, Cory, and he explained what they had on tap. I was hungry but I ordered a beer first, and Cory recommended the«Wilderness Wheat». Smooth and drinkable, with a nice wheaty aroma. I then ordered the reuben, and it came piled high and was paired nicely with the wheat brew. All in all, it was a nice place to visit. Brew and sandwich were great, service as attentive as I’d like(but not pesty), and I felt like I was now a part of history(oldest brewpub and all). Next time I’m in town, I’ll be back!

Service was nonexistent. Said hello to a waiter when walking to the bar, no response. Waited several minutes at the bar for a bartender, only to be told to wait outside for the waiter assigned to patio seating. There were only 2 other patrons onside. 5 – 10 minutes after eating outside, we were told dogs we’re allowed in the patio area. We suggested to move to one of the tables on the sidewalk. This wasn’t an option. We were told they were sued due to a dog bite in the past.(Okay, so don’t let that dog back??) Even if the service wasn’t terrible, places with an outside patio that aren’t at least somewhat dog friendly won’t ever get any of my of my friends money. I’ll never go back. Judging from the beer reviews on Untapped, I don’t think we missed much.

We had high hopes for this really cool looking brewery, but it was sadly disappointing. The service was incredibly slow and then the Pan roasted Tuna salad was dismal. The Tuna was cold and not cooked. It’s hard to believe such a place could be so bad. Don’t try it.

This is an unexpectedly fun and lively venue with a huge outdoor patio. Stop in for a beer if you’re passing through Rapid City.

The Gorgonzola Ale beer cheese soup was amazing! With my ½ a Ruben it was good too. My wife’s fish and chip were awful. The fish was overcooked and dry. We sent it back for a burger which was dry also. Get the beer cheese soup it was the best overall. The beer was tasty also.

A delicious spot for brew and grub! My hubby and I spot here right after visiting Mount Rushmore. Boy were we hungry! I got the soup and salad. The Gorgonzola ale soup was delicious! I don’t usually like Gorgonzola; and I thought this was going to be heavy! But it was actually light with a hint of ale. My hubby got their famous Rachel Ray gumbo! It was right on the money! Glad we stopped by!

The lunchtime food was just okay, nothing special. But the IPA they had on tap that day was delicious, the service was good, and the restaurant is just such a lovely tribute to our firefighters around the country. I bought a Pilsner glass next door in the winery and the lady said you can mail badges to be hung on the wall. She said they’re hoping to add more room for them soon. I would definitely stop in here for at least a beer, if nothing else, for the ambiance and to pay homage to those who risk their lives everyday.

This is obviously the place to go when visiting downtown Rapid City. Eight o’clock is prime time and it’s hard to get seated. The interior décor is unique and has a good atmosphere. There is also a large outdoor patio that is very popular and features live music. Needless to say it was noisy inside as well and difficult to carry on a conversation, even though we were seated upstairs in a relatively quiet area. It took thirty five minutes to get seated, and we had been told fifteen. We asked for first available, and there were only two in our party, While we really enjoyed the craft brews, the food itself was average for a brew pub — nothing special and a generic bar menu. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which was decent and the fish tacos, which were greatly improved when I added some hot sauce. The ESB and Porter on tap were both excellent. I’d go back for their beer, but not the food.

I see that many reviews give this restaurant high marks for food. I respect that on any given night food can be good. Not with us. Nachos-weird cheese with no taste. Guacamole that was light green and not tasty at all, ground beef with no flavor. Artichoke dip– way too much mayonnaise and very little artichoke. Will not come here for food again but the beer… Great beer. Had one that uses juniper berries instead of hops that was wonderful. Great IPA and the firehouse made beer is great. They also have growlers you can fill with any beer and take home. The small one was $ 18. Which wasn’t too bad as you get a lot of beer.

The Country Fried Steak was delicious! It came with a fresh half corn cob, potatoes and gravy. The steak was decent but a little tougher than expected but thankfully it was served with a steak knife. I expected to cut it with my fork, I was wrong. The potatoes had excellent flavor and all was topped with a nice gravy. I enjoyed each bite as I added some potatoes to each bite. This was very filling and I left with a full stomach. Would definitely have again! Our waitress was personable and brought refills before needed. The food came out at a decent time. Would come back if given the chance.
