Lazy U Motel

Lazy U was just what my brother & I were looking for on our most excellent adventure… a comfortable, clean, quiet & inexpensive place to rest our heads. Cute, 50s vintage motel & lovely hostess. Both my brother & I have stayed many times in places costing triple the price but lacking comfort provided at Lazy U.

The Lazy U is one of the best values we came across during our trip to the Dakota’s.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, cheap and the wifi was excellent. No frills, just what we look for in a quick sleep and shower place. If you go, spend a couple minutes chewing the fat with the owner, lots of fun.
We will definitely return next time we are in the area.

This is a nice place. Cindy runs the place and it was clean and very nice. She gave me an upgraded room and a discount which was also very kind. Highly recommend this motel.

This motel is nice and clean. The beds are comfortable! The TVs are new! The owners are awesome and friendly! No pool, no view is only thing that takes a 5-​star review for this motel down to a 4-​star review.

Great place to stay, room is clean. The people who run and own the place are super friendly and run a respectable hotel. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone passing through Rapid City. I will be staying here again in the future! They also have wifi, cable t.v. Perkins is right next door to the motel. Mount Rushmore ia right down the road from the motel.

Glad we had a reservation as when we pulled in they were full. Clean. We had the room with 3 queens for $ 99. Very quiet, very good location to Mt Rushmore, Starbucks and Murphys Pub. Would stay again.

We stayed last night for just one night, but it’s clear why this place has so many great reviews. The room is a standard motel room — the bed was a little old and smooshy, but their attention to detail was evident everywhere. Everything from the tv to the towels was high quality and thoughtful. But the thing that makes this place great is the owners. They’re so available and helpful and thoughtful. And the coffee and delicious doughnuts didn’t hurt either! If you’re passing through Rapid City, it’s a great place to stay!

Ok. This motel is great. It has all of the things needed to make it a five star review. The ambiance, the location and of course the owners. Not to mention the low prices for the motel per night.
This motel is not very big. I think it only has around 20 rooms but what is inside the rooms is what makes this motel shine. When you walk into this room it looks normal you see a wall that looks like it belongs in a school and a table and a bed. When you throw your suitcase down you see a 20″ flat screen, which isn’t too shabby for a motel that isn’t a chain motel; a lamp, three night tables and the possible greatest thing of all; quick hot water. The motel room gives you an at home feeling; like you are safe. The location of this motel is awesome because you have restaurants on this road that are within walking distance and highly acclaimed on Unilocal.It’s also not a long drive from the motel to any of the major tourist attractions: Mt. Rushmore, The Cosmos, Reptile Garden and The Caves. The owners are very nice. Every morning they lay out doughnuts and when they make conversation it seems genuine.
But now onto the elephant in the room, Why Cade M. in all of your infinite knowledge of this five star motel did you give it four stars? Well I’ll tell you. The motel has carpet, the water pressure is a little sub-​par and the room air unit doesn’t work all too well. But if you are ever looking for a place to stay in Rapid City, South Dakota I would hands down, 100% recommend this motel to you.

Travelling from California to Wisconsin and booking hotels day of can be expensive. We got to Rapid City in the midst of multiple events so all the available hotels were expensive, if not booked. After some google searching we came a crossed this gem. People raved on Yahoo! Travel, so we drove up to take a look. Its exterior is clean and homey. A 2 bed was cheaper than a 1 bed at any of the «chains» and it is by far cleaner inside than any 2 – 3 star hotel we have stayed in. Front desk was super helpful with suggestions for food and drink in the city. Great find and will definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Rapid. Cheap, clean, and well managed.

I stayed here a week before the Sturgis Bike Ralley for a few days. The room was clean, very reasonable priced (most in the area jack up the prices during the ralley). The owners were very nice and the place felt very safe. It is the place I will stay in the future when in Rapid.
