It’s one of the best brunch places in the hills. Sometimes I’ve had a flop, and they are often so busy you have to put in an hour before on the weekends/wait a while for food once seated, but that just shows how popular they are. I wish they had a vegetarian breakfast burrito option/more mexi options in general, but some of the surprises I’ve tried on the menu are outstanding. Favs: Vegetable breakfast! Cinnamon swirl French toast(so rich though, so definitely a splurge), The 4.95 option. Simple but hits the spot and good when I’m feeling kinda broke but get invited to Talley’s, Mashed potatoes are unusually fantastic.

Fantastic food! Got the eggs Benedict with salmon. Great tasting food! Great atmosphere. The wait staff that we had was a super cool person to talk to. This is one of those places that’s on my hit list whenever I come through town again.

Heard good thing about the place, went there with coworkers and the server wasn’t the friendliest of servers. The food look great, but for the pancakes, they were raw in the middle.

I always stop by Tally’s when I’m in Rapid. Their French toast is still very good, although their slices have gotten noticeably smaller lately. I haven’t been as impressed with the rest of their menu. Service is hit or miss.

The duck duck goose breakfast needs to be on your Rapid City, SD to do list, right after Mount Rushmore and perhaps tied with the Badlands, this dish is that good. Duck confit and fois gras together is obviously genius, but who would’ve thought to add butternut squash and juniper berries? It was an amazing, savory breakfast and I highly recommend it. Bonus points for offering me pancakes when I said to hold the toast. Pancakes typically don’t impress me but the ones served here were light and fluffy; I ended up eating both, no problem!

I moved cross country & did a road trip with my mom. We were starving so I went to Unilocal to see where we should stop and eat. Oh my, am I so glad we came here! There was a small wait, but so worth it. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. I love burgers so I ordered the Black Hills Buffalo Burger. It was so tasty! But I regretted ordering it. You see my mom ordered the Really French Toast & that’s what I should have ordered. She let me have a little it. By far the BEST French toast to hit my tastebuds. The only con about this place, I was on a road trip & will never get to come here again.

Very crowded for breakfast on the weekends, but worth it! I had the BLT and all the flavors in it are perfect together! We had a great waiter and quick service. Love this place!

Yum! Stayed at the hotel across the street and visited Tally’s for breakfast one morning. Everything was SO good and the portion sizes were excellent. I got the salmon benedict and one chocolate chip pancake. The pancake was huge, couldn’t finish it. 4 stars because our waitress was a bit inattentive. Despite that, I’d visit again.

This is definitely one of the better places in Rapid City and their breakfast is very good. But their Winter in between hours of lunch and dinner is a little disappointing(they only serve soup and pie) and I even checked their menu online and it didn’t mention those restrictions.

March 2015 spring break with the family. It took me sometime to write a review. How can I forget my /our great experienced. This place was warm and inviting, our wait staff were amazing(can’t remember his name) after taking our orders he suggested he would put the kids order first(he can hear them stating they were starving). Kids food came first, they all enjoyed their meals. My husband had the two eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. It had great flavors, I end up eating his other half. Didn’t care for my order, crêpe filled with scrabble eggs. The eggs were dry and crumbly, the crêpe were tasteless and stale. Beside my plate the kids liked their order, a place where my kids felt comfortable.

Our last stop before heading to the airport was breakfast at Tally’s. We got there right when they opened, along with half a dozen tables right at 7am. The wait staff was fairly chipper for the early hour, and we got our food quickly and were able to get on the road. I think we played it too conservatively with our orders — a two egg breakfast for me and migas(chorizo, onions, peppers, potatoes, tortilla strips, eggs, green chiles and cheese) for the spouse. The caramel roll was spot-on and delish, so we pigged out on that but left a little of the meals on our plates(me, too full and the spouse found his dish even heavier than expected). Looking at the rest of the menu, and knowing what I know now, I’d definitely go for crepes or a French omelet, or try a salmon benedict.

Thank you Unilocalers! Was looking for a local, non-chain, non fast food restaurant with a little class. Found it! Very good. Great service. On the corner in quaint downtown Rapid City. We both have leftovers for another meal.

Awesome. Just awesome. We went on vacation to Rapid City mid June of 2015. Being the foodies we are we did our research on this place, thoroughly checking Unilocal and tripadvisor. During our first encounter with Talley’s we chose to get a quick bite for breakfast before heading to Mt. Rushmore. My girlfriend had the Duck Duck goose confit breakfast and I had an omelette where I chose my own ingredients. Breakfast was superb there is no way else to put it. I had my doubts about the place because while it gives off a modern vibe, there is not much modern/contemporary about Rapid City; but this food was on the cusp of new American/upscale classic. Nothing was over seasoned or greasy. The chefs really know what they are doing and you can definitely tell they have put thought into their food pairings. For our second trip to Talley’s we came in one evening towards the end of our vacation from a full day of hiking in Keystone. I didn’t know what I wanted all I knew that I was hungry and could go for a 3-course meal. Perfectly advertised is their«indecision menu». I thought why not, with such good reviews I’m quite sure it will be pleasing and to say the least – it was pleasing. The first course was a bacon wrapped shrimp atop a crêpe filled with dates and goats cheese!!! Zomg, the pairing were so satisfying I wanted more! Second was a nice faraway salad with prosciutto for the main course the chef prepared bison. Perfectly cooked! I can say so many good things about this place. It’s definitely a gem tucked away in rapid city. Do stop here! This is a place you can try your luck and choose something you wouldn’t normally try – because it’s all good

Very interesting menu. Not what I expected at all when the place was recommended to me by the hotel across the street. Had breakfast here three times and each time it was uniquely amazing. Naturally, I was so impressed with the breakfast that I had to check out their dinner offering, which was equally as impressive. The Chef’s approach, in my opinion, can be summed up as a meaningful Eastern and Western European influence over classic American comforts. I say meaningful because it is not an overwhelming influence, nor is it insignificant. It’s just the right amount of deviation from the classic American form. A bold and rarely obtained goal in foodie run world where chefs are always trying to take it to the next level, which often results in them taking it too far. The menu reminded me of sort of a marriage of two popular restaurants I have been to, the Continental in Philadelphia by Steven Starr and Walkers Drive-In in the Fondren section of Jackson, MS. Ambiance is an interesting blend of Jersey diner meets western frontier. Being from the NY area I think it’s important to point out that I’m not saying that this is an amazing restaurant for South Dakota. It’s an amazing restaurant. I do believe it could hold it’s own in NYC and certainly would be the pride of New Canaan or any other suburban NYC downtown restaurant-ville.

I liked the atmosphere of this place! Modernized interior with studio lights and chill rock music in the background. To the left is a little bar shaped in an oval with wine glasses hanging from the ceiling. It’s located in a nice part of town, with little shops nearby to gawk at after breakfast. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict and really enjoyed it! Normally, I find that the side of hash browns for dishes are often neglected(i.e. burnt, unseasoned). But the entirety of this dish was tended to, which made it more enjoyable for me as a customer! The Hollandaise sauce was pretty good! There was a little bit reddish sauce mixed with it… Idk what it was but it tasted good! The eggs were topped with large orange fish eggs, which I was not accustomed to– it definitely brought out the fishy taste in the dish.

A great place for breakfast located in downtown Rapid City. The parking can be a challenge. I just got eggs, hash Browns, bacon, and toast. Everything was cooked as requested and tasted great. I really liked the toast they used. I felt that they needed more staff as it took quite a while to get service and find the waitress if you needed anything. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the location downtown.

This small restaurant is a must go if you’re in Rapid City, SD. We stopped in for breakfast and had the breakfast burrito, blue berry pancakes and the duck duck goose. Everything was so delicious and amazingly good. The breakfast felt light and healthy without missing any of the flavors. The customer service was also 5 stars and the only bad thing is that there is not a Tally’s Silver Spoon in California. Next time we’re in Rapid City, this small joint is being revisited.

I give this place a WHOPPING5 stars!!! The first time I came here was last weekend to grab some breakfast before doing a full day packed with touristy activities. The place was packed at 8AM, but luckily there were a few seats at the bar still open. We were greeted by one of the servers who was off duty and catching some breakfast. I think that alone says a lot. If this is the place that even the people who work here come to for breakfast, then I’m pretty certain I’m in the right place. The server recommended that I try the Duck, Duck, Goose. This dish comes with duck confit, onion, arugula, sweet potatoes, foie gras, sunny egg, gooseberries, and toast. MAN was it good!!! In all honesty, it was probably the best breakfast I’ve had in awhile(or maybe even ever). What really shocked me was that it came out within 10 minutes of ordering it, which seems almost impossible given how slammed the place was. I loved my breakfast so much that I came back the next day to try it again. In addition to the Duck, Duck, Goose, I also tried my husband’s breakfast burrito, which came with onions, peppers, tomato, chorizo sausage, hash browns, and scrambled green chili. It was also absolutely delicious. While I think you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, I’m still going to recommend you try the Duck, Duck, Goose. In addition to an amazing breakfast that is served until 2PM, this place also serves mimosas, beer, and wine. Furthermore, they seem to have a pretty great dinner menu, which includes Foie Gras of the Moment, as well as a mystery dinner where the chef prepares multiple courses off the menu(2 courses for $ 20, 3 courses for $ 30, 4 courses for $ 40, and 5 courses for $ 50). The next time I’m in town, I will definitely check this out. In sum, a place you should DEFINITELY hit up for breakfast(and probably lunch and dinner as well). I can’t say enough great things about this place!

Location — Tally’s is right in the middle of town and easily accessible and easy to find. Inside the entry way they had live music of a woman playing banjo and singing, which was very pleasant. Service — Upon entering, we were asked if we had reservations, even though many tables were empty, but it seems like many were reserved for people not there yet(I guess this is why some restaurants don’t take reservations). But they found seats for us at the bar, which was nice. Our server was polite, but she threw away one of the two meals we asked to be boxed for us. Oh well. Food — We ordered the Ponzu Nightshade($ 13), Alfredo Pasta($ 13), and Black Hill Buffalo Burger($ 12). The value was amazing for all three of these dishes when considering the quality of the food and the amount of food served. The Nightshade salad had asparagus seasoned perfectly and the poached egg was cooked spot-on. The Alfredo pasta was the best Alfredo sauce I have ever had, and I absolutely mean that. I order Alfredo pasta dishes frequently and many times the sauce is too watery or creamy or way too cheesy and thick, and this was by far the best tasting sauce, I wish I could have it again! The Buffalo burger was superb and it was nice they had so many possible toppings. Summary — I would absolutely come here again but I would make sure to make reservations first. I would also order the Alfredo again in a heart beat!
