Been here several times, and if anything it is consistently inconsistent. Burgers have been big and well prepared, and they have been small and barely edible. Service has been great, mostly at the bar, and it has been terrible. I would say I’ve had a few one star visits but never a five. Overall I’m giving it 3 stars as that is representative of a typical visit.

Such a cool updo. It’s a retro, hip version of the old tavern that used to be in its place. I’ve been to the bar for some drinks and the bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and quick. I recently went for dinner with my brother and had a delicious California wrap with waffle fries. Parking is kinda limited, always has been in that area, but I truly enjoy this place with an inside fire area and an outdoor patio.

I’m really appalled at how this business operates. Now I’m receiving messages from Jadon P, a patron of this restaurant who seems to know every detail of my review. The people at the restaurant seem to be discussing my business with him. Not at all professional by any means

We moved to Reading recently and we’re excited to try the restaurants. Biltmore and and Main is right in the middle of town and looked busy so we gave it a try despite mediocre reviews. Im so glad we did. The atmosphere is hip and lively and everyone was friendly. We enjoyed our funny, upbeat waitress who was knowledgeable about all aspects of their menu. We both got the same thing which we never do but I am so glad we did. I would not have shared any of my Brick Chicken! It was terrific! The drinks were also great. The restaurant was very busy with people of all ages including children but manages to retain a «hip» vibe. We will definitely go back.

Fantastic! Took the family there tonight and wasn’t so sure based on the reviews. It turned out great, though. They have an extensive beer menu and they do a flight of four 6oz beers for like $ 11 – top quality IPAs too! We started off with some pretty incredible deviled eggs topped with bacon. My daughter got the sliders, my son the California wrap, my wife got a wedge salad with steak tips(that looked seriously good), and I had a phenomenal pulled pork sandwich. The service was top notch and really helpful. It’s a great place to being the family or meet out with some friends in the burbs. Interesting menu, great beer selection. A++

No exaggeration, the food here is by far the best I’ve had in a very long time. The waffle fries were super fresh and the turkey burger was impeccable. The menu offered many great options you don’t see in many restaurants. The place was clean and the space was well designed. The music was present but not overbearing. They have a really nice outdoor patio too. Truly could be a cute date night if you’re looking for a spacious place with its fireplace. The prices were not the cheapest, but believe you me when I say it is certainly worth it. Will definitely return.

I want to love this place. I want to give it 5 stars– its a 3.5 or 4 star experience. The menu selection is great, the atmosphere is young and fun, the food is eh, okay. The drinks are fun– have a pear necessities drink(pear vodka, elderflower liqueur, grapefruit, lemon, basil– Served in a Bear shaped glass– oh so whimsical!!!) The place is always busy but the service is slooooooww. soooo slooow on a Saturday night. The menu is small, but has something for everyone from flatbreads to salads to steak and a fish option. I’ve had burgers here– tasty and decent enough– a bit overcooked though. My medium rare was definitely well done and dry in parts of the burger. The fries were the saving grace. I really do love their french fries. I really should have had the tacos– ordering regrets, next time!!! I saw some awesome dishes walking by including some good looking salads — - I will be back to try those. I’m hoping they will win me over on future visits– I really want to give this place more stars– let’s call it a few busy/off nights

I’ve only been here twice, but both times my husband and I have been satisfied. The atmosphere is great!.. The food is good. Some dishes have been disappointing in that they are small in size, especially for the price you pay(it is a little pricey). Overall, I’d recommend this place as a cool change from the norm. We will return for sure!

Really like this place. Good atmosphere, pretty impressive beer list. They have an outdoor«beer garden», that I’ll most likely be visiting regularly during the warmer months. Food is pretty good, too, although not fantastic yet. My only negative was that the music was too loud/uptempo(pop/dance/country/whatever-it-was) for a Sunday brunch/lunch(yes, I’m old). Something more laid-back(reggae??) would blend better with a lazy Sunday afternoon, imo. Overall, this place is waaay better than the last place(Grumpy O’Doyles), and I’m happy there’s another quality spot in my area.

Love the scene at BM. We moved recently from Southie and loved their sister restaurant Local 149 so having this close by is awesome! We love the drinks and food here. The Moscow mule is my favorite but sometimes a little too spicy, but that’s how it goes because hey make their own ginger beer. The nachos they had on their old menu were phenomenal! They now switched them to waffle fry nachos which I haven’t ordered yer. Last time we went we got the artichoke dip to start, the fish tacos and the salmon. All were delicious. The sangria was great and they have an awesome rotating beer list. Can’t wait to go back, waiting for them to start using open table for reservations.

I can’t begin to say how DISAPPOINTING this restaurant is!!! We went about a month after they opened for lunch, that said the food was mediocre at best. We waited for months hoping that it was because they were getting there menu glitches fixed etc. Last weekend we saw Biltmore & Main on Phantom Gourmet, and thought lets give them a shot again. We live in downtown Reading(easy walk to) so decided last Sunday to get some dinner takeout. We order Fish and ChipS, Petes London Broil Sandwich, A cuban and lamb hotdogs. They called us back saying they ran out of Cubans and Lamb hotdogs. . Due to the showing on Phantom. So instead we got a cheese burger. Again sadly the food was mediocre. Today, we wanted to try the Cuban and lamb hotdogs, the girl that took phone order said they didn’t have Cubans, bummer.. we ordered Petes London broil again, lamb hotdogs, a Ruben, pulled pork sliders, and a Bacon Cheese burger. When I arrived and looked at receipt while waiting for food, the lamb hotdogs were NOTONRECEIPT and they put a steak and cheese sandwich rather than a burger!!! When I brought this to their attention the woman manger said that they tried to call us back and tell us that they didn’t have lamb dogs etc but the phone # I gave was WRONG!!! I told her that I repeated my # FOURTIMES for the hostess who took the order!!! Perhaps when taking a phone order the person should REMOVETHEMSELVES from the LOUDBARAREA so they can hear the order and phone number of customer!!! JUST A SUGGESTION !!! Key words CUSTOMERSERVICE!!! Petes London broil was grey in color ! Disgusting !!! The Ruben was grizzle and ALLBREAD, the pulled pork sliders were mush and tasteless. The burger was the ONLYITEM cooked decent. Needless to say WEWILLNEVERBEORDERINGORGOINGHEREAGAIN !!!

Biltmore, hello? Are you there? Get it together please!!! This is such a cool spot, the atmosphere is excellent, the food is very good but the service needs major improvement. They need a complete re-haul and retrain of their servers and food runners. Before I get into the details I will say the food is very solid and has great ideas they just need to bring it to the finish line to get them to a higher level. I have been here three times, the first time I sat in the bar area and our service was A+. The last two times I have been here, service is so bad. Like basics on serving were totally not there. Sat for 15 min before anyone came to take our drink order. Drinks finally arrive, no cocktail napkins were given to anyone and no garnishes on any of the cocktails. We had to constantly ask for lemons and limes for the drinks. When the water was poured the waitress missed the glass completely and it spilled all over the table and she never came back to wipe it up. The raffleing off of drinks has commenced. This is such an easy skill to deliver food and drinks to the person that actually orders it instead of guessing every time and asking the entire table. This is very common here, happened with every drink and every item of food. Please keep in mind this wasn’t just a quick lunch we spent $ 225.00 last night for dinner. The service is amateur. Ok, moving on. We order apps for the table, one being the meat and cheese board. When it arrived we asked the food runner to give us the lay of the land on what kinds of meats and cheeses had just arrived. Literally the only thing he could identify on the platter was the whole grain mustard. I mean seriously? The other apps arrived and the server would just place the plates of food on tops of the menus that he literally would not take from the six of us. Finally get to the mains and everyone did seem fairly happy with the flavor of the food. The plating of the mains has taken a serious nose dive, the fries were cold and we had to keep asking our server multiple times for things we needed. Now I know the managers were in the restaurant last night, they love to just kind of hover around the double doors in the back by the fireplace. Please do something! When you see a waitress trying to clear a table without a tray and no lie stacking 8 half full water glasses inside each other and try to balance and walk across a busy dining room something needs to be done. Imagine if they all toppled over onto a guest? I really want to love this local place, you can tell they spent a lot of money revamping the interior and putting in a great patio but if the service and food plating doesn’t improve I’m afraid another Grumpy Doyles is in the near future.

I went here for Trivia Tuesday and ordered some grub while I was playing. Ill give my whole experience. Parking lot is small and was full, however I was able to get a street spot out front, no big deal. Just beware you may have to street park. Walking in I was greeted by a host, he guided us to a nice location in the trivia area. So far so good! My waitress, Michela was just amazing. She was so friendly and inviting and is a true gem at this place. I ordered a quesadilla which ended up being jammed packed with onions and peppers. There was barely any cheese in the quesadilla so when you picked it up, the tortilla simple unfolded and the cubed chicken fell out. I had to eat it with a fork and knife which ended up being OK since I had to remove half of the onions from it. It was honestly a mouth full of onions. Not happy with that. The person I was with got a few waffle fries with his burger, and they were delicious, so I decided to place an order for a side of waffle fries. What came out was the smallest basket of fries I have honestly ever seen… and it was a WHOPPING4 dollars. I have attached a picture of the basket. People. it was 8 waffle fries for 4 dollars. 50 cents for a waffle fry? I have never been so blown away by a price/portion ratio in my life. I know you’re like«dude, its fries, get over it» but for 4 dollars, I would expect more than 8. Check the picture for yourself. Anyway, halfway through the trivia, I felt a pain in my finger, I looked down only to see a quarter inch piece of wood sticking out from my finger. The table is made of real wood and it seems the protective coating was coming off in various places. After I removed the large splinter from underneath my nail, I look on my finger next to it, and there you have it… a smaller splinter in my finger. I just didn’t expect to need tweezers when going out to dinner. The place was very busy for a Tuesday, I am talking 75% full which really surprised me. The atmosphere is great, the food is good, the portions are small, the prices are kinda high, the staff was wonderful, the tables might test your latest tetanus shot. My two star rating is because the portions are just too small to justify such high prices and my review is leaning heavily on food and price. Hence the«meh, i’ve experienced better» two star Unilocal rating. I wish I could give a 2.5 in all honesty. My review would definitely change if I went back and portions were better and I didn’t feel they were ripping people off.

Went to check out this new spot in Reading last week and I am SO glad we did! What a great spot. I’ve been to their sister restaurant in Southie and loved that they went with the same funky décor — great artwork, funky soda bottles, lots of TVs, great music. I started with a beer, they have a wonderful selection of West Coast beer(and beer in general.) It was great to see some favorites from the Local menu and the new additions looked great too. We started with the calamari — delish and different. FINALLY you can get a well seasoned, crispy calamari with just enough spice that doesn’t come with marinara! For my entrée, I got the Eggplant Lasagna — better than the North End! Eggplant is real easy to mess up and they definitely knocked it out of the park. I’ve skimmed a few complaints on the prices, but I really don’t think that’s justified. The food is similar to that you would get in a downtown Boston restaurant, good size portions and quality ingredients — not some Monsanto garbage that comes in frozen and gets deep fried to be served in 5 minutes. Drinks, Food, Service, and Ambience all great. Keep up the great work Biltmore & Main!

Décor and atmosphere is good. Infinitely better than Grumpy Doyle’s. Service was fair, not great. Came in for drinks and apps. Good selection of beer with rotating taps. The food apps though? Extremely disappointed. We ordered nachos and probably some of the worst I’ve had. It didn’t say on the menu it came with sour cream(which I can’t eat). The«cheese» on the nachos was store bought, canned nacho cheese. Unexpected and poor choice. The«chili» was barely chili. It also seemed almost cold. We also got some fries… I’d stay away from the waffle but regular was good. I think it says a lot when you use store bought nacho cheese instead of fresh cheese. I’d doubt I’d trust the rest of the menu. Probably won’t be back.

I am so happy a place like Biltmore & Main has opened up in Reading… all in all, it is a lively, welcoming place with a great beer & drink selection, good food, and great service. It’s a great place to catch a game at the bar or grab dinner with the family. The space is nice: it is bright, with eclectic artwork comfortably bridging«standard pub» and«modern space.» It is spacious, with comfortable tables and high-tops throughout. Most times it is bustling and alive. The service is great: always friendly and helpful. The food is interesting and tasty: I’ve had(and enjoyed) quite a few things… some standouts include the lamb hotdog appetizers, the steak and cheese sandwich, and the fish and chips. Prices are perfectly reasonable, and the portions are likewise well-sized. The drink menu is great: an expansive beer selection(which is sorely needed in Reading), rotating taps, and interesting cocktails. The bar staff is super-friendly, too. Always there are things that can be improved… but none of these overshadow what’s working here: — as people have noted, it can be loud(but I’d prefer loud and vibrant over quiet and dead) — sometimes, I wish there weren’t so many big-screen TVs throughout the entire dining area(but other times, I appreciate it… so, this is unhelpful advice) — I wish that there were a few more vegetarian options(but like that the menu is constantly evolving) — I wish that the rotating taps would rotate a bit more But, all in all, love this place, and very happy it is in town and thriving.

Food: menu was creative, something for everyone. Food quality was mediocre. Table ordered Mac and cheese fritters, that was the favorite. Other things we tried: hog wings(good taste, came out lukewarm), chicken and waffles(no complaints there). Bloody Mary’s were good, drink menu extensive I really liked that they suggested a beer wine or cocktail pairing for each entrée Service: waiter was nice, but the service was very slow… Asked for cheddar cheese on my grilled cheese and got American Ambience: cozy vibe, large space. Came here for brunch so it wasn’t too loud Nice to see an RMHS grad trying to build up downtown Reading

My wife and I went here last week for(officially) the first time. We had tried going a few weeks ago, but there was a private function that was taking up the entire back/dining area, and they said it would be an hour+ wait, so we opted to eat elsewhere. It was crowded when we went last week, and I was dubious we’d be able to get a table in reasonable time. The host eventually meandered back to the station, he looked permanently confused. He said it would be a 15 minute wait for a table, so we decided to wait. 30 minutes later I go up to the host station and ask how much longer it would be. He says he’ll go check, comes back a few minutes later and says it’ll be another 15 – 30 minutes. I ask him to send a manager over, because that’s ridiculous, being told originally it would be a 15 minute wait, and 30 minutes later being told it would be at least the same, if not longer. And the kid didn’t seem to see an issue with it at all… The manager comes over and asks what the problem is. I explain, and she says she’ll get us seated at the next table. ~5 minutes later we’re seated(total wait being about 45 minutes). Bad start to the meal. They have a large beer menu, which is great. A DJ starts blaring music, to the point I can’t hear my wife sitting across from me, and we’re on the opposite side of the restaurant from the DJ set-up. The excessively loud music made for an even more uncomfortable meal. Out waitress was friendly enough, but the two occasions I tried to get her attention, she looked right at me, but apparently didn’t register and meandered off somewhere else. She dropped off the check at the end of the meal, I waited about 10 minutes for her to come back to pick up my credit card, but she was talking to another table the entire time, so I swapped out for cash. My wife ordered a burger; she asked for it to be extremely well-done, and it was probably medium-well. I ordered the steak frites medium, and it was pretty much bleeding on the plate. I have no reason to ever go back to this place…

I’ve been to Biltmore & Main five times both with children(7 and 6) and without. The food and service has been fantastic. When they first opened I had friends tell me they had to wait a while for food. I haven’t had that experience, but I think that was just the restaurant working out the kinks when they first opened — I think that’s old news at this point. I’ve had the steak sandwich, Cuban, gas lamp burger. Cleaned my plate every time. Go with the waffle fries. Beer selection is awesome too. Two of my favorite beers that most restaurants don’t carry are available — Sixpoint Sweet Action and Maine Beer Co MO. Jason, the manager always stops by to check on everything and makes us feel at home. Great addition to the restaurants in the area. Just what we needed.

My husband and I went on Halloween night for an early dinner. Aside from a a few people at the bar, the place was almost empty. The hostess(who later I saw watching videos on her phone as we exited) sat us at a high top table squeezed in next to an «employee only» door. The staff, who basically wandered around the restaurant, went in and out of this door CONSTANTLY, every time making the door slam. Our server was less than enthused to be working and disappeared multiple times. He was gone so long that the bartender needed to deliver our drinks. By that time we were already finished with our appetizer(the delicious, but skimpy and overpriced mac and cheese fritters.) When the server did come back, he smelled of smoke. Our entrees were good, I had the salmon special and my husband had the chicken and waffles. He wasn’t as impressed, as the chicken on top was essentially fried chicken wings. All the while we were eating, we could not get over the level of unprofessionalism displayed by the servers. I don’t know if they were overstaffed – I counted between 17 – 20 people – or perhaps it was the fact that the man I presumed to be the manager was sitting at the bar socializing the whole time. There were photos being taken at the bar, servers sitting with friends at a table, texting, loud laughter and chatting and general laziness. When another table was sat, they waited at least 5 – 10 minutes to be greeted by a server. We watched as a group of servers discussed who’s table it may be. The hardest working person I saw was a man I presumed to be a runner/busser who brought us our food and genuinely greeted us. I hope things change because I was really looking forward to a new, local spot for dinner and drinks.
