Only problem I had were parents not watching their dang kids. Lifeguards were on top of them climbing up the slides. 6 year old was entertained for hours.

I have to preface my review with the statement that I do not attend open swims. All of my experience is at swim meets which my kids have attended here for many years so this is more of a facility review. Redding is very lucky to have such a premium facility in town. It had the only 50 meter pool north of Sacramento. It also has a 25 meter pool, a child pool area with beach entry and a slide. Lifeguards have never been a problem at the meets we have attended but the do not have a lot of responsibility at meets. If you ever have a chance to attend a swim meet at this facility, I recommend it.

I have mixed feelings about this place. My girls like to going and splashing around in the kid area, however my oldest is too tall for the kids slide and too scared to do the big slide. So that’s a bummer. The thing that really makes me not want to go is that some of the teenage lifeguards are on a power trip. One actually yelled at my daughter and made her cry hysterically. I went over to find out what happened and mentioned he should have asked to talk to her mom instead of scaring her. He shouted at me «I am in charge here. I can say whatever I want to whoever I want, however I want.» I was livid. He couldn’t have been more then 16. I went to speak to the manager and was told they would see what they could do about refunding my membership I had just purchased. Ugh. I had a headache and we left. Came back another time and had my youngest hugging my back while I was sitting in the kid pool with the her and was told by another teenage lifeguard that her hugging my back was considered a piggy back ride and that wasn’t allowed. Really? So she sat on my lap and he starts to come over again and I am like, I give up! So as much as the girl love to swim there, I am a nervous wreck the whole time.

Very kid friendly, friendly staff and lifeguards for the most part. My kids love the play structure and we do swimming lessons here. Miss Amanda is fantastic! The outside bathrooms could use some help but overall it is a very pleasant place to be when it is hot out. By the way, love the new umbrella, just need a couple more of them!

I will never return!!! I have an autistic son who can swim great, he jumped in the deep end, and they jumped in after him and tried a full on rescue, pulled him out and then wanted to make me fill out an incident report. I was extremely mad, «he can swim fine, why did you pull him out I argued», while they told me he couldnt swim in the deep end, and I would have to fill out an incident report or leave.
