I’ve been going here for nearly a year now. Gina has done a great job with my hair each visit.

Bottom line: if you value your time, money or hair: go somewhere else; anywhere else. I received the worst haircut of my life here. Unfortunately the rest of the experience was almost as awful. I showed up maybe about 5 minutes late for my appointment because there isn’t any parking at the shop, you have to go a few blocks away. Not that it mattered as the receptionist refused to acknowledge I was there while she tried to upsell someone on premium for close to 10 minutes then disappeared to the back for another 5. Once I was finally able to check in the stylist Jason, keep me waiting for another 15 minutes. That’s when things took a turn for the worse. Jason asked what I wanted I gave him some general instructions expecting for questions to refine it; but he said & asked no further questions. He turned me away from the mirror & proceeded to cut my hair, finally styling it into an exaggerated fauxhawk, which is not how I style my hair. He only gave me a small hand mirror to look at what he did, which made seeing what he did do difficult. I asked him to take ½″ an inch off the middle, he questioned that & I said he was right, it should be far less then that, really just to take the fauxhawk style out. He then took out a pair of clippers & proceeded to take off closer to an inch, giving me a buzz cut! I don’t know this was out of spite for asking him to retrim after he styled; or if he’s just that bad of a stylist. Either way I won’t be returning.

This place is a joke; The first time there with a very junior stylist that gives me an hour version of her life story and a bad haircut. Second chance, this stylist no-showed with no backup, customers time wasted. Every place is better than this.

Came here after my unpleasant visit to Rudy’s and was amazed at night and day difference. Front desk was very nice and welcoming. Gina did my haircut she’s a true professional and really help me understand the process and ensured she remembered my preferences by noting them down. She also does a pretty mean fade. =) Definitely coming back.

Just went for the first time. I had a Living Social deal and they treated me just as nice as if I was paying full price, that is a first for me from anyone. Angelo did a good haircut and it was amazing to get my first strait razor shave. I hope more people fund this location so they are there for me in the future. Go to Angelo who is bringing the old school strait razor shave back with style.

I had been trying to go to Rudy’s for a haircut for days, but their wait was 2+ hours every time I called in. A friend of mine had recommended 18⁄8 so I decided to try them. I called and was able to get an appointment for 30 minutes later, which was perfect for me. I don’t know that this will always be the case, but they were happy to get me in as soon as possible. I was told that I was getting the«new client» special by the gentleman on the phone. I agreed, and filled out their client form when I got there. I was then taken to a room where I could change out of my shirt and into a smock so that I didn’t get hair in my shirt. I was weird-ed out at first, but this was really nice. They have a private area for you to change, and they have smocks that you can put on instead. Ends up I was getting the executive hair cut as the new client special. They start out with a neck and shoulder massage, and a rub with warm stones on your neck. Then they wash your hair twice(before and after the cut), do the style, conditioner in the hair, and a warm towel treatment on your face. I don’t know all the specifics of all the treatments, but I can tell you the experience was amazing. I was so grumpy and tense before my haircut, but the experience was so relaxing and nice I felt a lot better. Although the entire time I was worried that this was going to cost me over $ 100. It felt like with everything they did, it should be a really expensive spa day. Really it didn’t cost much more than going to any other salon(usually geared to women’s needs more than men’s) and if you join their club(pay for 7 hair cuts in advance) it’s actually cheaper(I am specifically comparing to Rudy’s Barbershop down the street). The cut was really great too! I have thinning hair on the top of my head and thick fast growing hair on the sides and back. It ends up giving me a ‘krusty the clown’ look. When I was growing up, they would always have thin out my hair to get it to lay smooth. No one has done that in years though, but they did thin the sides and back of my hair. She really took the time to do a great cut. I have had the same cut for years, but she actually did it right, and it looks really great! They have a faster cut if you’re in a hurry, or just need a touch up, and they have a sliding scale for costs depending on the experience of your stylist. I had the starting cost, and the experience was great, and she was way better than just going to some other walk in stylist or barber. They also offer face and beard services. I am definitely going to get a membership and make this my new salon.
