So disappointed to drive up for my frozen treat and find it was closed! I hope they can open another location. This was by far the best frozen yogurt ever! No place compared to penguins!

Just drove up to Penguins to find it’s closed and worse, was evicted. I’m incredibly disappointed as we love the soft serve yogurt here, much better than the Penguins in Torrance because of the variety of flavors. To the owner, I really hope you find another location soon and post it here for your loyal fans. Thanks for all the tubs and toppings over the years!

Steve said he may open again soon, same place, same location — but it’s not certain yet

It’s totally my fault that this Penguin’s closed. I moved away and they lost a regular customer. I apologize to my fellow Penguins loving Unilocalers for my major misstep. RIP Penguins.

WHATTHEHECK?! I was there the other night. Ummmm where can we crowdfund them to open again in a less expensive location? Heck, raise the price $ 2. Man…

I’ve been going here for years and I’m so sad to hear it’s closed. Hoping the owner opens another in a new location. Has anyone heard anything new?

I can’t believe Penguins got evicted! I’m pretty sure its customers would have paid more for the amazing yogurt than what we were already paying. I showed up here yesterday after a tough week and was greeted by the Notice of Eviction taped on the glass doors and yogurt machines push up against the glass. This was the most amazing yogurt and always picked me up. Yogurtland and Menchies really have no chance to match up. The taste, quality and price of Penguins could not be beat! I hope that all of loyal customers can welcome Penguins back to another storefront in the Southbay very soon!

So long, Penguins :(We visited last night, and saw the place was dark and all the furniture inside was stacked up. There was a Notice of Eviction taped to the door. So sad, as this was a favorite local yogurt place.

Open late ++++++++ Small is under $ 2. Medium barely more and too much for me to finish. They have lots of different flavors and you can mix and match there as well. I like the Cake Batter. Additional toppings are like 85 or 95 cents. Lots of seating outside. Walking distance to the beach! Overall a really good dessert place. They have lots of flavors and topping options as well as the price is pretty unbeatable.

Soft serve yogurt was awesome. There’s a consistent flow of customers that come in. The workers are friendly and helpful. Minus one star for the cleanliness of the shop.

This place has been a staple of my childhood since the early 90s. I have been coming here every so often with family members, dates, and so forth. You can’t go wrong with any of the selections that Penguin’s has to offer. I always get my vanilla and chocolate swirl for $ 2. Can’t beat that!

I love me some Penguins on that perfect sunny afternoon. Can be any day of the week! This place caters to all ages. During our 10 min there we had the Grandma, the father stopping by after work to pick up dessert for the fam, the dad having a father daughter date, the teenager taking a pit stop, and us feeding the taste buds between running errands :). They always have at least 8 flavors avail in their machines … I’d have to say my favorite so far is banana cake. The froyo is full, bold and creamy. This is no joke and you will enjoy every single bite! Its a slightly healthier alternative to actual ice cream but who are you joking… Why would you ever want to cheat on quality with dessert just to be a little more healthy? This place does not skimp on taste quality or quantity. You will crave this place the second you finish your cup or cone. Their portions are extremely generous. I wanted to get a large and after I saw the portions I should have got a small! Yes, that generous. The icing on the cake is the price! It’s like we are still paying the price of the early 2000’s and I’m not complaining one bit. Thanks for introducing me to my #1 favorite dessert stop along PCH! Don’t forget to grab a stamp card! You will definitely be coming back :).

My favorite yogurt place from the 80’s. I would always go to the Torrance location. This was my first time at this location. I have not been to Penguins since maybe the early 90’s. We wanted a late night yogurt and penguins was open until 10:30 so that was a plus. We sampled the Milky Way which was delicious but a little rich for me. They had many flavors to chose from though. Staff is not in uniform so yes it does kinda through you off a little. well for me it does. However, the staff was very helpful and nice. Our server was super sweet and allowed us to take our time in what we wanted for our selection. I didn’t feel rushed at all. I do miss the plain flavor like I get at the«other» yogurt shops. Penguins is cool I’m glad it’s still around because 80’s was way awesome and it’s nice to see a blast from the past still thriving!!! I will most definitely be back. I only give a 4 star because I crave that tart plain yogurt.

One of my favorite desert places in the South Bay. If you come at peak hours(I’d say 7−930pm) you might find a line out the door, because well, it’s that good. It’s not Yogurtland style — that is, they actually have employees behind the counter dispensing the yogurt and doling out toppings. No do it yourself, which is fine, just don’t expect it if you haven’t been. They usually have about 12 – 15 flavors at a time(including the mixed options), and aside from the super generic flavors, they usually swap out about 6 of the flavors each day for new ones. I know this because I come in rather frequently and always see a couple different ones. It’s usually quite consistent. Not too sweet, nice and creamy. One time I found the vanilla to be a little too icy and not as creamy as usual, but once out of 100 times ain’t bad. In terms of toppings, they usually offer the same stuff all the time. There’s about 15 different candy options, about 10 of the fruit variety and 3 or 4 wet toppings. Make sure to get a free sample or two! Plus if you want a medium with toppings, you’ll usually get extra because they’ll put it in a large to accommodate. And it’s cheap, too! There’s usually about 5 kids behind the counter whenever I go in so it’s not like they’re understaffed either. You can use a credit card without any fees even though it’s usually only like $ 3/order. I definitely recommend over any of the other froyo chains in the area. You heard me!

Consistently good over the years. They seem to be pushing a lot of low carb flavors right now. Every other flavor seemed to be marked with a low carb sticker. We recently tried: Grasshopper — refreshing and minty and creamy Coconut Cream Pie — creamy with a mild coconut flavor Tropical Coconut — pass on this When we saw $ 3.20 for a pint, we were sold. We’ll take two! «That’s cheaper than Yogurtland» or so you think… They charged $ 3.70…we don’t know why they charged us an extra 50 cents for each yogurt but we were too tired to ask by that point. The only thing we could think of was because they offered a dome lid vs a flat lid. Either way, doublecheck with them if it peeves you . Also, toppings are NOT free — they are 85 cents for dry toppings. In the end, it works out to cost $ 4.55, which is just as much as a regular size cup at any other yogurt place like Yogurtland, Menchies, etc. Location: in a strip plaza, on a corner Parking: free, small parking lot

WHOA. $ 2 for a «small» waffle cone!!! It’s HUGE!!! I think the prices are cheaper than the Torrance location too. The FroYo is a lot like soft serve but creamier with less guilt. Best dessert decision EVER. Good location, nice staff, great prices, and awesome flavor selection! We didn’t even need toppings because the flavors tasted great by themselves. Definitely coming back =)

I honestly cannot believe I have neither checked-in, nor reviewed Penguins prior to this past 24 hours. I am very certain I’ve been there about half a dozen times, or at least I go there in my dessert dreams. I love all things Frozen Yogurt. I love mixing flavors. I love toppings(especially Mochi). I usually enjoy working the machine to make perfect swirls, though at Penguins they dole it out for you(and I won’t bitch and moan). Penguins is good stuff. Very well made froyo. They use lower carb mixes, add a bit more air in the rpocess to make a lighter, fluffier frozen yogurt that is smooth and creamy. It also doesn’t melt as fast as the more sugary product at Yogurtland or FroyoLife. — The place is usually populated by teen employees, they’re pretty polite and happy. — There’s parking in front, or on the street next to the location. — Plenty of sizes to choose from, SMALL(approx 1 scoop), MEDIUM(roughly 2⁄5 scoops), LARGE(about 4 scoops), and I THINKMYBUTTLOOKBIG(like 6 scoops). — Prices are cheap as the small(which is enough for a weeknight sin) is only $ 1.35 — yes, that’s under $ 2 bucks for a somewhat«healthier» sugar fix to satiate your dessert craving. — Yes, they have cones. Yes, you can get sauces and whipped topping. And yes, you can come back tomorrow and do it all over again. Penguins is good stuff and it don’t feel like a sinny-sin-sin. I don’t wanna run right to Jeebus and confess after eating some. Usually sex and/or sugary desserts put me to sleep, but with Penguins I wanna stay up and chat a while… you know… get to know my froyo. ENJOY!
