Tables dirty. No paper towels in the bathroom. Loud Mexican music. Too loud. TV’s with no English subtitles Glad it was open late. Food was good. Flautas. Great salsa Roja. They have wi-fi.

Avoid the Horchata. It was waaay too sweet and dense… overpowered by cinnamon. Homemade horchata is not like that… it should be light and refreshing…

This is an OK place for tacos and burritos that isn’t too expensive. It’s located in the same complex as the Marshalls and Target. I had two super tacos and I thought the grilled chicken was better than the grilled pork(pastor). The pork was a bit too tough for my liking, but the chicken was tender. The super tacos comes with cheese, guacamole, the works basically yet the taco shell is still the same size as a regular taco, so you get a lot of food. The food here is quite oily and rich. It kind of made my stomach hurt a bit(this is not the first taco place to do so, nor shall it be the last). Here, they also have free chips and salsa which is nice, although I thought the chips tasted a little stale or something. I liked the salsas that they had here though. Minimum $ 5 for credit cards.

Been coming here for a couple months now and their food is good. Their prices are reasonable and their tacos are ok. I would recommend this place if you are looking for tacos or flautas. The only down side is that when they are really busy they take your order wrong but besides that food is good.

Had to get a quick lunch but didn’t want to go for fast food so I stopped by to get a chicken burrito here. The place is nicely decorated, more so than other Grullenses in Redwood City. The staff was really friendly so that’s always a good thing. The process are nice. I only paid $ 6 for a regular burrito which is huge! I would recommend a Super Burrito unless you can eat more than one meal. There only bad thing was the free chips. They treated burnt and completely drenched the brown bag they were in with grease. Out spent reality matter though because I didn’t go in for the chips. If I need a quick lunch in sure headed here again.

My go-to place for a tripas burrito but lately, they’ve been serving me cold burritos — cold meat as well.

The 3 star overall review is really fair. It’s definitely A-OK and I will come back here. I’ve had a few things here as I’ve been here several times. Really haven’t been bothered reviewing because middle of the road places that are just acceptable isn’t something to get excited over. I love the Mole sauce, but like a typical bar, you don’t get a breast or a thigh, you get a leg and a couple of wings. It’s a bit expensive for what I actually got, but I loved the Mole. The rest of my orders here were for tacos and quesidillas and they satisfied my hunger. So this is a decent late night Mexican food stop. It’s worth trying, but it’s definitely not some place I would want to show off by taking friends or family, so no 5 stars from me. 4 is a little high because if it’s not late, I won’t even consider this place. But if it’s late, I have no problems coming here for decent food.

I often come here for a wet burrito, I like the flavor and savory taste, but what really urks me is the yellow and black sign that says«Price Does Not Include Tax» and I’m looking at my receipt where just above my total it says total tax, $ 1.98. What’s that about??? Raises eyebrow.

First time here to this restaurant. I come from orange County California. in Orange County we have some bomb ass food bomb means good for those that don’t understand lol. And the food at this restaurant was good as well. the only thing that sucked is that you got to order your own food at the counter and then you have to get your own chips they have no waiters. And the cashier takes her time to take ur order. NOOOOO bueno…

Yuk. Their burrito tastes nasty. The extra guacamole is a joke. More jalapenos with water than real avocado. They need to learn some cooking from the SF taquerias. The salsa is also not a real salsa. Dont waste your money and time here.

I don’t agree with the overall 3 star rating for this place. I think it’s probably the go-to place for me to get my mexican food fix. The place serves great mains in huge portions and prices are reasonable!

I was waiting for a tire to get fixed and stumbled across this gem to have lunch at. Large space that is kept very clean. Easy to order from menu, then they bring the food out to your number. Beer, wine, and sangria are available, as well as soda. I had the ‘wet’ burrito with pork and it was delicious! The salsa bar is very fresh. But the chips seemed a little stale. It’s minor, but worth noting. I’ll be back for sure! I love a good burrito!

First time in this«El Greasy»…couldn’t fathom the thought of eating Chuck E Cheese food next door since my nephew’s birthday was there. Grabbed a few tacos and jetted back to the party. No fuss, no muss. Tacos were tasty and I was saved from the cardboard tasting pizza next door.

our friendly taqueria down the street… what can be better than walking 5 minutes to a no frills, fast service mexican restaurant? not much, apparently. hubby and i come here as our go-to taco and burrito joint. he especially likes coming here whenever we have out of town guests since he swears this is the most authentic taqueria in redwood city. our friends and family have never complained, so we will continue to bring guests here for a casual meal. the tacos are good and cheap, and by cheap, i mean $ 1.50 a piece. for six quarters, i think you get a pretty good taco as they fill it well. i typically get a shrimp or fish taco and while the taste could be better, for $ 1.50, i really can’t complain. hubby usually gets a carnitas or beef taco plate and he is quite happy with his tacos and side of rice and refried beans. once i came for breakfast and had myself a couple of sunny side up eggs which were good, but a little costly. since i usually make my own eggs at home, i’d forgotten how much eggs cost when you go out and have someone else make them for you. yes, they open for breakfast and actually have pancakes and eggs on the menu! for those who enjoy the sports bar type environment, this is a great option for you as there’s a full bar in the back of the dining area with a nice size tv, so you can have your tacos, tortilla chips, a beer and a great view of the game all at the same time. note that they do open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, starting as early as 8am on most days and closing around midnight on the weekends. convenient place, great hours, and friendly staff.

They open LATE!!! SUPER thrilled about that. More places need to stay open late. Had a horchata and meaty fries. The horchata, I’ve had better, the meaty fries, it was SOOOMUCH food. It comes on a big platter, and fries, meat, tons of ciliantro and onions cover the whole plate. The fries and meat were all in a bath of melted cheese. I hope you like onions and cilantro, else you really should just tell them not to use any, because they go a little overboard with those two ingredients. Thats fine by though. Any time I’m in the area and its late, I’ll be back.

This umpteenth iteration of an El Grullense in Redwood City replaced an excellent Sichuan restaurant called China Hot. There are plenty of perfectly tasty Grullense incarnations in Redwood City, but foodie curiosity of course dictated that I try this one out nevertheless. Turns out I wasn’t missing much. Prices are comparable to other Grullenses but the tacos here are nowhere near as good as they are at the Taqueria El Grullense further north on El Camino(the one in the old A&W location). The fish tacos in particular were served with really stingy portions of fish/onion/cilantro, and the vegetarian tacos had waaaay too much skanky, stale-tasting pre-shredded cheese on top. Sorry but I’ll be sticking to the other El Grullenses in town for my taco fix!

Background: Taqueria in the same plaza as the Red Wood City Target. They have a really large menu of Mexican foods ranging from your regular tacos, buritos, nachos to more specialized goodies like mole, pizole, enchiladas. Additionally, they have tons of aquas refrescas, and a bar. It feels more like a bar with food. Details: I got 4 tacos: $ 1.50 a piece. Nothing too exciting really… Carnitas were fatty, Chicken wasn’t really grilled — looked like boiled chicken and carne asada was fatty too. Not the greatest quality of food when you’re speaking of like quality of meat, how it’s cooked. It was ok, the portions big and I was full beyond belief after 4 tacos. THey have a free chips and salsa bar. I can’t complain — loads of free salsa and chips My favorite part was my agua refresca($ 2.50) yum. Watermelon juice is my favorite and you can even get it without ice! Verdict: If you’re in the neighborhood and hungry for mexican, it’ll do. It’s not one of those places you go out of your way or start craving and thinking about!
