This place is the worst… Tried this place for the third time — waited 30 minutes in the drive-thru line only to be told when I got to the window that they were out of chicken and it would be 15 minutes. Similar circumstances on the other visits. This place is just so disorganized… Waste of time every time. NO chicken is that good!!!

The food is what you’d expect — no better or worse than any other KFC. My complaint is about the cleanliness … the floor throughout the entire restaurant, under the tables and in the bathroom is so slippery — the other day it was like an ice skating rink! I said something to the manager about it and she told me that it was because a worker used the kitchen mop. which makes no sense and makes me wonder what the kitchen is like then! It’s been like this for a very long time. The place needs a professional cleaning from top to bottom!

OK so I went to KFC and place my order however they ran out of everything I wanted it also took 40 min to get my food that wasn’t exactly what I wanted but Zack the manager saved the day he was very accommodating and super polite. Calm and collected while many other employees where running around frantic. So A+ Zack you change this review from one star to 5 give the man a raise.

We came here on a Monday night, and they forget to include my wife’s side dish of mac and cheese, after it was paid for! Somebody awake over there at all???

I didn’t think fast food could be so screwed up due to franchise requirements to buy and sell food prepared in accordance with tightly controlled recipes. Our food seemed as though someone accidentally spilled a half pound of black pepper into not only the chicken batter but the gravy as well. Won’t likely ever return to this establishment again.

almost 20 Minutes standing in line waiting to order. The drive thru Lane was 9 cars long so that was no better option. This place really needs to beef up their staffing and food preparation. Amazingly the flustered, stressed out staff still had a good attitude. Not a good choice if you are trying to grab a guick take home meal after work for the family diner(sadly, isn’t that what the place was known for). But they do still have darn good fried chicken.

Horrible! If I could give minus stars I would. Went in Friday evening at 4:50 pm and they had NO original chicken available(unbelievable — no original receipt on a Friday evening??). Was told by Matt(Manager??) that it would take 17 minutes to cook the original receipt chicken. We had an event to attend at 6:00 pm, so thought we’d be okay to wait. At 5:15 pm began asking about our chicken. Matt continued to help other customers and would not even look at us. Finally at 5:25 pm, Matt said that the cook just put the chicken in the fryer and it would be another 15 minutes. I asked to speak with the boss and another gentleman appeared and apathetically, insincerely apologized and said he would mail us a coupon for free chicken for another time. Needless to say, we got our money back, left KFC Redwood City and tried to scramble to find something else to eat on such short notice. We were late for our event. On another note, the restaurant was filthy. The receptacle holding all the hot«sides» was dirty, dripping from drawer to the other, made me ill. The floor and tables were also dirty, sticky with waste all over. Will never visit this KFC again, probably not any KFC anywhere.

Picked up 16 piece meal for dinner. It was TERRIBLE!!! Breading very dark, almost burnt, and so salty that it burnt our tongues. And the meat was dry. Usually we have a few pieces(from the Woodside KFC) and have the rest for the next night or two. This time my wife stripped off all of the skin and breading and said the only way to salvage this was to chop it into small pieces and dump it into crème of mushroom. I can’t see how any restauranteur could ever allow crap like this out their door. Simply terrible. I almost never give negative review but this time I have to. Stay away from this joint!!!

The best thing i could say about this store is that it didn’t give me food poisoning. If I could give minus stars for attitude I would. They all acted as though they were all stoned. Forgot what I ordered & tried to give me wings when I ordered legs & thighs.

A couple weeks ago I drove 5 miles to KFCRC(because the KFC near our house closed a few years ago). I ordered a large bucket and they said it would be 20 minute wait. So I drove on, and planned to pre-order the next time. So this time I called 30 minutes ahead and placed and order but when I got there, they said they sold the chicken from my order. They said it would be a 20 minute wait. Then they said they aren’t going to cook any more. Now this was at 8pm where they are open till 10pm. So we drove to the other side of Redwood City to the Woodside Road KFC to try our luck there. At this KFC here were no cars in the parking lot, and no cars in the drive-thru, yet they were also out of chicken and it would be a 20 minute wait. We spotted a PopEyes across the street and we headed there, having never been to a PopEyes before. And OMG PopEyes had literally a mountain of chicken in view, a line going out the door, and it was less than 10 minute wait for our big order of chicken.

This KFC is near our house and is the occasional savior when it’s late and we’re too tired to cook. However, after last night’s experience we won’t be eating there again. We got take out with extra pieces for lunch later this week. When we opened the bucket my husband and I both realized the same thing — that the chicken smelled fishy. We thought maybe it was our imagination but the chicken also tasted fishy. Not wanting to risk getting sick, the entire thing went in the trash. My husband commented later the staff behind the counter asked for him to let them know how the chicken was. Either that’s their standard question or they suspected something was up too. I filed a complaint online via the KFC corporate site and no response yet. Not even an auto response to acknowledge receipt of my complaint.

My youngest daughter sometimes gets cravings for over-salted, fried chicken; which is why I find myself at this KFC occasionally. On a recent trip, she had some friends over, and they requested some too. Plus, I figured I’d have a piece or two(It brings back childhood memories.). So I came here solo and ordered a bucket to go, plus the sides that come with. At this point I was told there was a special going on: KFC was giving one large bundt cake away for each person who ordered a bucket.(I looked at these cakes, stacked behind the counter; heavily glazed. I imagined the off-the-chart trans-fat and artificial content, and a small wash of nausea came and went. The following conversation ensued: Counter Guy: «Lemon or chocolate?» Me: «No thanks; I don’t want a cake.» Counter Guy: «Are you sure?» Me: «Positive» Counter Guy: «Wouldn’t your kids like it?» Me: «Probably; but they’re not here, and they don’t need it» I paid, and the staff began to prepare my order. At one point, a customer eating dinner inside had figured out that he had forgotten his bundt cake, which the staff gladly handed over(a lemon one). He then proceeded to sit down and began tearing off bits of the glazed cake with his hands, putting these in his mouth between bites of chicken. I did my best to look away. Once my order was ready, Counter Guy actually took a chocolate bundt cake and stuck it in the large bag, on top of my bucket and sides. He then handed me the bag. Me: «Please. I don’t want the cake. Remember?» Counter guy: «What…Oh» Me: «Please take it out» Counter guy apologized, took the cake out, and handed me back the bag. I was on my way, cake-free, but not without putting up a small fight. Yet more evidence that fast food joints seem to want us to be fatter.

I was apprehensive to go today because of the poor reviews but honestly it was fine. Folks this isn’t fine dining, it’s KFC. It was hot, fresh and fast. The worst part of my experience was 5:00 traffic on El Camino. The best part? I didn’t have to cook.

A couple years ago, I ordered a meal with cole slaw and macaroni. They used to serve meals on three section plates, with the sides in two of the sections. After I pointed out they gave me mashed potatoes, they took the plate to the back, scraped off the potatoes, and put cole slaw there. I felt I got a good deal, even the French Laundry wouldn’t be creative enough to combine those flavors together so elegantly. They’ve gone downhill since then. I ordered mashed potatoes this time and got mashed potatoes in a reusable plastic container. I wanted to feel good about adding landfill waste. Now I had to save my gravy laden container, for what? To help the environment? Anyway, sarcasm aside, my chicken was extra crispy instead of original recipe. Since I got drive thru, I didn’t go back to have them correct the mistake. The chicken was hot, juicy and fresh though, which goes a long way. So a couple years ago I would have given them one star(or less), I suppose they earned a star a year. Maybe I’ll visit them again in a couple years expecting them to be a five-star experience.

Yesterday a Sunday, my wife and I finished our shopping and decided to have some chicken. We only go here once a month if we have the money because of the expense you understand. We normally enjoy it, but were we shocked when we got home and opened up the bucket. We spent $ 25.00 on the Mega Meal and boy were we shocked to find the CHICKENOLD, DRIEDOUT, TOUGHANDALMOSTINEDIBLE. This food my wife said SHOULDHAVEBEENTHROWNOUT, she knows she works in the fast food area as well. It WASNOTFRESHATALL, NOROFGOODQUALITY. I can’t believe the management would allow their employees to rip off the public like this. Where is the manager? On a vacation or just doesn’t care? I have to be fair here, this is the first time this has happened to us, I hope its the last. The KFC in San Mateo use to be like this one time. What a waste 5BREASTS, 5LEGS ruined and waste of good hard earned money. I hope the powers to be of this store pays attention. Oh yea, before I sign off, I suggest you open your bucket of chicken and look at it first before you take it home.
