Warm lil spot I wander into when around this part of town. They have lots of cakes, pastries, breads, pies, sweet bun varieties, bubble teas etc. The cakes taste fake. That’s it. My bootleg incomplete continental breakfast is enhanced by the Croissants @ First Taste Bakery. They taste warm, flakey but still moist and are pretty huge. Baked fresh. And that’s all I get here. $ 1.35 for a Croissant and they recently jacked it up to $ 1.50… eyeRoll I usually get 2 Croissants and then proceed to McD’s for a giantic coffee @ for $ 1.10 as oppose to paying $ 1.30 for small coffee at this bakery. The funny thing is, there are these types of mom&pop shops in LA also, and the Croissants taste the freakin’ same, EXACTLY! Must be some type of franchise. There are places to sit, you can load up your plastic tray like a school boy and eat all the carbs you want. But you may sit next to some strange FOB’s who pick their nose or take their boot off and shake out money. No, I ain’t kiddin’… Verdict: Grab something here for a quick nibble, if you’re on your way to somewhere else.

Although the seatings are very old and everuthing else is very clean. Bread is always fresh and well cooked. The cake here is awesome not too sugary and full of fruits on top. Customer service is great.

This bakery is decent. I live near to the bakery. Not too bad if you want a quick boba fix or a Chinese baked good fix. I tried their seseme red bean ball and it was rock hard; had to microwave it when I got home. Not the best but it will do.

Not the best bakery but not the worst. Decent baked goods and cakes. They have a few really good items like their twist breads, and some good tasting coffee. They are average now but the quality of the goods gets better every year.

These guys are a few blocks away from where I live and have been around for a few years now. There is a severe lack of bakeries in my area so there aren’t many place to go to for baked good. They are ok. They are now serving a limited amount of hot food as well so they must be figuring out other ways to cash in around here.

My Taiwanese corner! They make ok Iced tea with milk, light and sweet. Bubble tea I have had from here, are too, sweet for my liking. I realized that it would be beneficial to self by letting anyone who’s making a beverage for you know how much sweetness you’d like would in it. I never tried their lunch specials but have seem a lot of people eating’ em. I was once hooked on their Fried salty pork ball. I must have them every weekend! Always temped to try HUGE bagels they sell… will try them one day.

As most people who read my reviews here on Unilocal will see I’m a hard reviewer when it come to giving a grade to any store you really have to impress me to get 5 stars or else you will fall into my 1 or two star category. Next victim. This place is bordering on horrible. I went there one day to buy bread and to I purchased a hero looking thing. When I went to pay the woman was away from the register doing something else. I waited and waited what got me angry was she saw me and it was like she wanted me to disappear. As I waited her 5 star rating she could have received dropped to 4. When she finally came she act like I had some dirty money so the 4 stars dropped to 3. So I paid and left anyhow got home and decided to make a sandwich with this bread. When I touched the bread it was solid as a rock. This made them lose 2 more stars because they seem to have plans to ruin my well complemented teeth with this abomination they called bread. Sorry First Taste this will be my last taste of your bread.

Since nobody has reviewed this place, I guess I will since I live very close. My comments and pictures are from January/February 2010. FYI: I know this bakery is connected to the First Taste located at 75 – 08 Broadway in Elmhurst and i believe that’s the original. Anyways, typical Chinese bakery here with very inexpensive items accompanied by a funky Asian twist. Like their so called«bagels» are not the same as an American bagel because they’re sweet and the texture is just different. They also have lunch specials(see my pics) that are super cheap: 1) chicken with salt and pepper over rice for $ 4.25: that would be fried chicken that comes with vegetables such as broccoli and cabbage over rice. This is a great deal. The only problem is the cabbage because it was super mooshy and weirded me out. 2) chicken with black pepper sauce on rice for $ 4.75: This was kinda funky. I didn’t like the sauce too much in terms of taste or texture. Once again, there’s another cameo by the mooshy cabbage.
