Super good, fresh flavors. Thoughtfully paired combo’s all in a bowl. Had the special which was leg of lamb with ratatouille with a corn cake. Lamb was perfectly cooked, medium rare on skewers, topped with a flavorful olive tapenade. The ratatouille was very well cooked, each of the components had it’s individual flavor not a mess all thrown together. Also had the olive oil cake with strawberry sorbet and strawberries. Didn’t look like much when served, but the flavor was all there. Olive oil cake was very moist and the sorbet really popped. Awesome combo. The place is very nice, clean and casual. Staff is friendly and helpful. It’s order at the front and they bring your food and they’ll clear it too.

Not a sit down restaurant, but really good comfort food. Took a while to get our food, and it was on the pricey side, but it was worth it in the end! I got the duck, but all my friends raved about the veggie meatballs and spaghetti squash. I would go back for sure!

This place is awesome! What a nice change from typical food offered at the casinos. The food was extremely fresh and had good flavor. The boar ragu was delicious and the serving was huge. We also had two other entrees that were scrumptious as well. Only complaint is that the servings seem inconsistent. One dish was enough for two people to share, while another was barely filling.

My «foodie» daughter found this place and we loved it! I had the halibut and it was so tasty. My daughter had the pork and her bf had a salad. The super treat was the mint ice cream. I have never tasted anything so good!

«Can I like the bowl?» Asked my super-taster husband who hates everything. He hasn’t reacted this way to a restaurant since Sezmu(which I am still mourning the close of, but less so now that we have been to Bowl). The flavor combinations were remarkably palatable. I was a bit skeptic about everything coming in a bowl, but it forces you to eat the food together and it all works! The atmosphere is casual, hipster which may be unappealing to some. But the window was open and it was raining and we couldn’t have asked for better ambiance. And really, we came for the food! We got the edamame, kale Caesar(perfectly dressed), pork shoulder(just staahhp with the macaroni’s flavor), and duck confi(cooked to perfection). See pictures. We were delighted with all of the bowls and my husband was pretty serious about licking his bowl. He NEVER gets excited about food — that is my role. So to find this place that gets him pumped to eat and talk about the favors, we will definitely make an attempt to come back frequently(which may not be as hard given the common area where our kids can run around). Thanks for such a delectable anniversary dinner. It brought back fond memories of our old favorite, Sezmu. And we are even happier that it was equally delicious but a third of the price!

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The menu is constantly changing each day, and so far everything I’ve tried there has been wonderful. The ingredients are fresh. The staff is awesome. The owner is very creative with the menu and when he’s in he swings by and checks in with you which is a plus in my book. Every time I’m in town I make a point to go here.

We spent 24 hours in Reno on a recent trip and were looking for some fresh non-casino food. The Bowl fit the spot. I had the eggplant bowl and my dining partner and the squash spaghetti and«meatballs.» Everything tasted fresh. Staff was friendly. Wine and beer available too. Good option if you are looking for fresh and tasty food in downtown Reno.

I really really like the concept of this place. Cool dark atmosphere, interesting menu of everything served in a bowl, wine available at the connected wine bar, etc… I like that you order at the counter and go find a seat. In fact, I usually don’t love ordering at the counter for dinner, but it worked here… Our food was good, but I was a little disappointed with the mac and cheese. It wasn’t very cheesy, ha, I know how crazy that sounds. The staff raved about the M&C, so I am thinking we hit it on an off night. If I ever find myself in Reno, I’d come back here!

Food here is super yummy and creative. Only problem is it’s sorted with a food court. So service isn’t all that great. You order, you sit, you get food, you leave. But the food creativity is great, I’ll be back.

I’ve been wanting to try out Bowl for quite some time, and my husband and I FINALLY used the gift card we received(last Christmas… yikes!) to treat ourselves to a new restaurant. This is a great place for for a date(especially a first date, imo), and I can easily see my lady friends and I coming here to unwind on a Friday night. The restaurant is trendy and ambient, without being too dark or hipster-ey and is a nice addition to West St. Market. The menu is simple and clean, offering comfort-style food with fresh, local ingredients. We opted for the marinated olives as an appetizer(total win!). Nice marinade without being too oily, and the olives were rich and diverse. The husband had the moroccan meatballs, accompanied by citrus-mint glazed carrots and saffron pearl couscous. He loved it! I have heard a lot of good things about their zucchini«meatballs» and spaghetti squash… However, when I checked out their website, they had latkes listed on their menu, which got me very excited.(I frigging LOVE latkes!!) Unfortunately, their website isn’t updated regularly and their menu changes each week depending on the ingredients they have in. This is a good thing, because I really like seasonal flair like that, but I was bummed about the latkes because I really had my heart(er, stomach?) set on them. That being said, I was totally happy with the zucchini«meatballs» and would order them again. The portion sizes are appropriate, with a little bit leftover to take home. My husband’s dish reheated nicely, but I wouldn’t recommend taking home the zucchini meatballs because they get soggy after sitting for too long… I also love their complimentary fusion water– they had a yummy lemon-mint water available on our visit. I think the prices are appropriate, but perhaps a smidge high. I can think of some other places in town where we could’ve had a meal that was less expensive but also high-quality. I might not become a regular at Bowl, but like I said, I would totally return for another date or a night out with the gals. Bowl doesn’t offer full service(orders are taken at the counter, and a lot of things are self-serve), but the staff here works together very well and our needs were well-tended to. Way to go, team! I will be back!

Well I had some high expectations I guess, in retrospect, such as organic tasty food, not over priced, ok atmospere welcoming non dirty looking kitchen. Appatizers were bland. Vegetables strangely wilted greasy tasted of bacon fat. Is it really that difficult to season the food correctly? The quality of the food was off. Way off. Don’t bother.

Such a nice culinary gem amongst an oasis of mediocre casino fare. Really cool interior design and a chalkboard menu always set a solid early tone pre-meal, but it’s even better when the food overdelivers, even with lofty praise to live up to. I was debating between the pork shoulder mac n cheese and the duck confit, and the friendly staff members steered me towards the latter. Boy, am I glad they did. The duck was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and tender meat that slid right off the bones. It sat atop an umami-rich bed of saucy polenta, trumpet mushrooms, crunchy radishes, and refreshing chard. It looked beautiful and tasted even better. Can’t remember last time I was this satisfied with a dinner! The citrus water in mason jars, cool napkins, and fresh bowls of spices & garnishes were all just cherries on top! Thanks y’all for making my first-ever meal in Reno a very memorable one!

Hands down the best dishes I’ve had since I moved to Reno. Me and a girlfriend got the Moroccan meatballs and beef daube to share and both were impeccable. I personally liked the beef daube better, as did my friend. This place definitely just became a regular spot for me.

Can’t believe we didn’t know about this place sooner. Will definitely come back. Matthew had the Duck Confti. Rare that he rates something«5» Star but he he gave his meal 5 thumbs up! I had the Moroccan Meatballs and … WOW!!! Olive oil cake with strawberry sorbet and roll us out of here. Oh yeah… pumpkin ale beer is a must with the meatballs.

Dinner Review: We visited Reno for the Reno Zombie Beer Crawl and found Bowl on Unilocal. The food was delicious! The restaurant was away from the strip and at 5 pm there were lots of homeless people on the street.(Just walk fast.) The restaurant had just opened and we were immediately greeted at the counter. We ordered the duck confit, the zucchini meatballs and two water cups. Both were excellent dishes. The duck confit was crispy and the polenta was perfection. The marinara sauce needed more flavor, but really there was nothing to complain about. Our total was $ 32 for the two dishes. Not cheap but it was worth the walk and price. It’s healthier and more delicious food than the hotel buffets. It was a great find. The restaurant is connected to a small market of other stands, inclusions a Greek spot. It’s like a mini food court.

Food — 4 Service — 4 Ambiance — 5 My friends and I stumbled upon this place, and our expectations were definitely exceeded! The service was a little bit slow but friendly. My friends and I had: — jerk chicken, brown rice, black beans, acorn squash — duck confit, polenta, mushrooms, swiss chard — moroccan meatballs, citrus-mint glazed carrots, saffron pearl couscous — chicken piccata(STANDOUT) — zucchini«meatballs», spaghetti squash, marinara sauce — olive oil cake, strawberries, strawberry sorbet(STANDOUT we had to get another!) Overall, all the food was good. It was exactly the dinner we needed after a long drive from San Francisco to Reno. We happily ended our night with warm full bellies.

It took me a while to take the decision to write a review about this place as I couldn’t make up my mind between a 4 or a 5 stars rating… and I am not the kind of Unilocaler who easily gives a 5 ;-) I think it’s a 4.5, and I am rating it 5. Why? To be frank, what was served to me was perfectly cooked by someone who master and totally control his dishes. The place itself. The place looks good. Semi-open kitchen, brick walls, modern painting, small tables with candles. Since the restaurant is located inside an old garage(the whole complex seems to now be a market), you get a huge opening on the street. Modern albeit retro. Great vibe. I liked it. Kitchen is clean, staff and cook super friendly and nice. I tried: duck confit, Kale Caesar, vegetarian scallops, olive oil cake. Duck confit: being french and having lived in sud-ouest(south west, bordeaux) for 5 years, I am pretty familiar with duck confit: I used to make my own, my neighbors used to make their own, and being honest, I never really like any confit except those I could find in the confit land(!). That Bowl confit was amazing, mainly because it seems they hadn’t preserved the duck leg in salt before cooking it in the fat. This way, you get an unsalted confit where you can have a better taste of the duck meat. The meat wasn’t oily. It was served with polenta along with perfectly cooked turnips and mushrooms with a fine and well balanced sauce. The vegetarian scallops(sweet potato) in balsamic reduction was perfectly cooked, seasoned. The reduction wasn’t too salty, the vinegar taste wasn’t taking over the rest. Spinach were cooked right and not soggy. The dish was topped with deep fried non-battered spring onion strips? not sure, but that was really nice. all of those on the top of a portobello mushroom. A tasty and extremely fresh vegetarian dish. Olive oil cake: moist to perfection with an home-made(if not, I need the name of the brand!) strawberry sorbet as delicious as the one my mother used to make. The kale Caesar, perfectly seasoned. I finished the whole bowl(the kale might have been a bit too«grown» and could get slightly hard to chew sometime but… this is really a detail). You order at the bar and pay upfront. Everything is fresh. Healthy. Everything seems to be home-made. Dishes are very well presented and cooked to perfection. Portion are to me, perfectly sized according to the price and the quality of the ingredients. The chef knows his business. 5 stars.

Yummy! This place has everything served in a bowl, hence the name. The zucchini meatballs are amazing. You get a decent serving size too for $ 14. They have vegan options too which is nice. They are a little pricey but it’s totally worth it! This last check in, I had the yam dish. It was a smaller serving than what I’ve previously had. It was super tastey though. It’s a cool environment too. There is a garage door that opens to the street. They have delicious infused water and have bandanas for napkins. I’d definitely recommend this place.

February 20, 2015 Friday 6:00PM dinner 2 Adults Atmosphere — 4 stars Food — 4 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Date night with my wonderful wife. We are going to Century Riverside for a movie and wanted something nearby. Atmosphere — Small footprint inside the West Street Market. And I mean small, the tables are too close. Visually the place is great. They have extra seating out the commons area which actually worked better for us. Niko’s and the Wine bar are right there too. Food Drinks — I had the Pizza Port’s Chronic Ale on tap. Dinner — I had the Mahi Mahi on a bed of rice with some baby bok choy. It was all served in a bowl, are you shocked, I was. The Mahi Mahi was served with a nice fruit chutney. My only problem was that the baby bok choy. There were a few leaves on top of the rice, but the majority was still attached to the stem. This made it very difficult to eat. I was not able to cut the bok choy with my knife either. Look at me complaining I can not eat my vegetables. Service — It was great. As you know my wife likes to cook. She had the zucchini balls, and something was it she could not figure out. She asked one of the waitresses, and she went to the cooks and found out for us. Future — Yeah I can see coming back here.
