El Pollo Loco

I love to eat here and I always get the chicken avocado taco and my boyfriend always gets the bacon and avocado tostada which are always delicious for a fast food joint. For what it is I give the food 3 – 4 stars, especially because their chicken is rotisserie which makes it a lot better than prepackaged chicken.
For the past 3 or 4 times we’ve went I’ve had problems each time. They are always forgetting something in the bag or something isn’t made right. The last time I went I had to wait in the long drive thru line and when I finally got to the window the cashier gave me the wrong drink (which is fine, it’s not a big deal) then he hands me my food and I specifically asked if everything was in there, he said yes and I went on my way. I stopped in the parking lot just to be sure and of course the churro’s i ordered weren’t there. The lobby had closed at 8pm so I had to get back in the long line for the drive thru, wait another 10 – 15 minutes and finally he gave me my churro’s with barely any apology and I went home. When I get home, I realized the chips that came with my meal were not in there either! Long story short, the food is great for what it is but the service sucks and the customer service isn’t special either. Not to mention the long drive thru times…

This was one of the worst order experiences I’ve had anywhere. First the lady lied about being out of bacon then said no she could add it just for me. I had to explain and re explain my order 4 times for
Two simple items. By the time I got my food it was cold. I really don’t want to be rude but if you’re working at a job that is dealing with talking and taking people’s orders you should be able to understand simple and basic English. Would not go to this location again.

Love this place but disappointed that there were no clean tables at 3:30 in the afternoon.

We have been coming to this location since they open but it is slowly going down hill. The people that work the register don’t know the products. There is always a problem with their drink machines. Even though I usually order the same item, it never comes out the same. This sad because there was a lot of hope for this business.

It’s fast food but it’s much healthier food other fast food restaurants. The grilled chicken here is tasty but a little bit dry. Again, I’d rather order my lunch or dinner here than going to have a big bacon double cheese burger.

Usually the service is good here (at least later in the day) but this morning I came to the drive through at 9:58, two minutes before they open. An employee came up to me and said they weren’t open for another 5 mins, so I just said okay I’ll just wait here to order. After I said that, I could see one employee throwing a little fit, raising her voice and her hands. They opened the window again like they were going to say something and I could see the irate employee shaking her head but I couldn’t hear what she was saying to the other employee. I got the impression this was because of my presence. I decided being hungry was better than getting my food spit in by some crazy person, so I left. Just wanna say, you’re job is not that hard! These people are unprofessional and rude. I just wanted a tasty burrito without having to unload two kids out of the car, and your unwelcoming and crappy attitudes ruined that for me.

For a convenient location and some classic pollo, check out this fast food chain. The size of the chicken pieces seem to have shrunk over the years, but their salsa bar is still the same. There is a nice selection of mild and hot salsas that will please any average Mexican food consumer along with onions, and jalapeño peppers. Some chains try to cut costs by shaving on the quality of a salsa bar, but this chain has kept it consistent over the last 10 years.
Try their pollo bowl and ask for extra tortillas. Enjoy!

We have a big orders to go from Polly loco to feed 15 people and we have to get a lot of salsa and sauce and we have the manager name Gabriela and Adriana very helpful great service. If u guys need to catering ur food for ur party come to see these girl. They r awesome.

This food taste fresh, since I watch what I eat and rarely drive through fast food anymore this is a good option. I get the skinny chicken quesadilla and it’s delicious, 460 cal.

If I could give less I would. Pictures of the clump of hair in my taco disgusting. You have got to be kidding me. We don’t really eat fast food but with the low calorie menu we did, worst mistake. I cannot get this out of my head. Never EVER be back. And what I just heard from someone else they had a hair clump in their coleslaw. Wow thumbs up on cleanliness.

I know this is a chain restaurant but I just have to recommend the creamy cilantro dressing. It is so yummy — we would buy it by the bottle if we could.
Overall, we find this a great place for an easy, quick family meal. There is something tasty for everyone.

Was so happy to have this location open up and for a while they made these amazing crispy chicken tacos — their signature dish… BUT:
SHRIMP MARKETING ALERT. In order to add shrimp to the menu (i’ve been told by staff at different branches) they have DISCONTINUED THEIR EPIC CRISPY CHICKEN TACOS… this is like IN-​N-​Out discontinuing Fries… the Crispy Chicken Tacos have been ranked among the best fast food items in the United States, and yet… they have suddenly DISCONTINUED CRISPY CHICKEN TACOS… in fact one cashier told me they were «only a promotion anyway»…a promotion for 10 years says i… NEW COKE MOMENT. CORPORATE BRILLIANCE? They’ve lost an enthusiastic lifetime customer.

i am an el pollo loco fan from wayyyy back. love, love, love their food! the new location on south virginia exceeds all of my expectations! we have been just to this location now, probably 5 times in 10 days! delish!
i asked how they made their avocado salsa and immediately, 3 crew members went to find out and help me with my «not really that important» question! gotta love any crew who goes above and beyond.
el pollo loco management — keep up the great work with your crew; keep them motivated and uplifted; so far, you have one helluva staff, let me tell you! :)

I’ve been here around 5 times and every time is the same way. Extremely slow and have messed up my order every time. Idk if it’s the language barrier or what but I’ve had them forget numerous things in my order. Tonight for example they forgot both our drinks and some chicken tacos. The drive through is the most confusing thing as well… You say one thing and they ask something completely different. Decent food but expensive for the quality and service.

I must start with — I love El Pollo Loco. Unfortunately, do to my great anticipation, I was expecting too much and failed to realize that like any new business, it takes some time to work out all the kinks.
While I am greatly impressed by the great renovation and the number of people working and eating there, I was let down by the food and the service.
The cashier didn’t know the menu, the chicken was blackened and dried — not usual to the other El Pollo Loco locations.
I think, I’m just going to wait a couple of weeks before going back to this location in hope to see some improvements in service and food quality. Until then, see you at the other South Virginia St. location.

This review may be changed later on, once they kind of get their stuff together. We LOVE El Pollo and we go there all the time regardless. The first few visits here took a really long time and the plates were cut pretty short on food compared to the existing locations. They’re trying their hearts out and thats all that counts. They’ll get it down.

They were out of wings and breasts. Kind of ridiculous that a chicken place runs out of chicken.

I got a HUGE order for like 20 people here.

The staff was good and the food was okay for chain food.
they gave me plenty of plates, tortillas, salsa.
Although this place just opened so everything is brand new, clean, happy staff.
After a year it COULD be bad.
I ate at 5 guys the day it opened and it was great, 6 months later it was terrible,
So I’ll give an updated review for el pollo loco in 6 months or so.

Good solid offerings for a so-​called fast food joint. I like the flavor of the chicken and many of the Mexican offerings. I like their green sauce and the avocados in their salads and other items. This location is more convenient for me since I live in South Reno. Good alternate choice from «the burger routine».

Food is good, but they are still working out the kinks. Went through the drive through waited 15 minutes. Got to the window finally, and the two lady’s working the drive through ask us what we ordered?!? ordered chicken and some other things, and they had us wait out front the store for another 20 minutes. Shouldn’t a chicken place have chicken?
Once we got the food home, my 2 pieces of chicken we had to wait outside for forever, was great, the nachos they made 1 hour prior… We’re a soggy mess. They forgot our salsa we wanted too. The drive thru lady apologized several times, she seemed very flustered. I’m sure it isn’t her fault… Just some things for this new place to workout, we won’t be back till they settle in. Sadly.
