Ambulance Services, Community Health, Education, Paramedicine, Billing, Dispatch. They do it all! They are the«Authority» for Emergency Medical Services in the area.

I can’t say anything about their transport services, but REMSA(and Advantage CPR) are the best places in town to learn basic life saving skills! I accidentally took the wrong class(heart saver + first aid) at Advantage and needed to enroll in the correct class(BLS for healthcare providers) to participate in clinical rotations for my healthcare classes. My REMSA instructor was thorough and informative, and the class was just a smidge pricier than the class I took at Advantage. When I was looking up CPR classes online, there seemed to be a lot of questionable establishments… REMSA and Advantage both offer a variety of classes to meet your schedule at affordable prices, and are quality places to learn how to save a life. Highly recommended!

First of all I would like to say that I have had REMSA respond twice before to my house for difficulty breathing due to my asthma and the personnel were fabulous! Absolutely could not have been more professional or more compassionate. In this review I’m going to call out two of them that came out on 9−30−15. I called 911 at approximately 11:00 p.m. and told them I had severe back pain and needed an ambulance. I also told them I was alone and without transportation. I said I thought I had a severe kidney infection. When two attendants arrived, a woman and a man I met them at the door doubled over in pain. They did not assess me whatsoever; they never touched me or asked me what my pain level was. Their protocol manual is available to read on their website-this is SOP. As I was crying, sweating profusely, holding my back, and doubled over in pain the woman said I could take a taxi. She said that Renown was very busy that night and I’d be waiting for hours, which caused me further distress and I said I wanted to take the ambulance whether I had to wait or not. I climbed into the ambulance unassisted and sat uncomfortably on a gurney for the entire ride without wearing a seatbelt or lying down; just sitting there suffering. I told her I was nauseated and she handed me a vomit bag without comment. The man put the blood pressure cuff on so tight that it registered pain through my excruciating back pain and I complained about it and was told it was necessary to be that tight.(my hand should turn blue and throb?). When we arrived at Renown on South Meadows, the woman asked me if I would like a wheelchair and I replied yes. We both looked to the man to get one and he smirked and looked put out, and after their treatment of me I said«F*** him, I’ll walk in», to her. I waited for him to open the double doors, I shuffled in and never saw them again.(My next review will be the AWESOME way the staff at Renown took care of me and my KIDNEYSTONE!). But I digress. Here’s the thing; their CRAPPY care could cost someone their life! They had no idea what was wrong with me, I could’ve had an abdominal bleed, anything was possible! Fortunately, this time it was just suffering from pain that the patient was subjected to. Those medics, according to their very own protocol manual, could have administered pain medication. My written complaint is ready to be mailed to the proper place, as soon as I contact the Washoe County Health Dept. to find out exactly where to mail it and to whom to address it. I hope they get fired. Wait! I hope they get kidney stones! They might learn a little humility and compassion. They sure gave REMSA a black eye. But every other medic I’ve ever met there has been incredible, as I said above. Those good men and women don’t need this kind of review to be seen by the public. Bad apples.

$ 40 for Caregiver CPR Renewal. Classes are manageable in size, clear, and easy to get thru. I had Dave Z as my instructor, and he was great!

I don’t remember the lead medic’s name, but he was extremely kind to my young friend who was experiencing a weird feeling in his chest, like irregular heartbeat. After finding my young friend was very anxious, the medic shared that he’d been too anxious to be in crowds, when he returned from overseas deployment. Great care and excellent«bedside manner». Thanks!
