It was snowing that day so we had wanted something warm but the Taiwanese place next door was super packed. After a while we decided to get AYCE. There weren’t a lot of people, just a couple of regulars so all of our orders came out pretty quickly. The fish didn’t seem too fresh but the chefs were really smiley and nice and accommodating(I really don’t like mayo so they took it out of some of the rolls). There is also a huge selection — I’d recommend getting some of the nigiris, the ahi special, the sad roll(if you like spicy), and the tornado. Pretty satisfying meal overall. Left happy and warm from miso soup.

Love this place. The sushi is great and the service is excellent. This is my favorite sushi in Reno.

Low sushi quality with very fishy flavor. I did the AUCE and the overall quality of the fish was poor. The rolls were smothered in sauce to mask the unsavory flavor. Rice was starchy and sticky and the portion with nigiri was too large. Staff were speaking Chinese very loudly throughout my entire lunch experience. Will not return.

VEGANSCOMEHERE! Over 40 vegan/vegetarian rolls! I don’t know how I am just now finding this place, but I’m so glad that I did. They have the best veggie sushi in all of Reno. Highly recommend the V5-West 5th Street.

Worst service ever. We had to go and get most of the items on our own. Some items came that we didn’t order. Very impolite servant and careless approach.

Service not that great, sushi was lack luster… Not the best vibe… Will not be coming back… Sooooo many sushi restaurants in Reno, this place doesn’t not compete.

I’ve read about this place on Unilocal and it was next to the Star$$. Dwnt was having the Italian Festival and I wanted coffee but wanted to walk around and headed to the Star$$ at around 10:30am and to check out Sushi Lovers. They were not open for lunch and there was no menu to look at only pictures of some sushi plates and noodle bowls. not really impressed. During the day I looked at Kokopellis at the Circus Circus and the place at Eldorado and decided why not? Give Sushi Lovers a chance and it was walking distance from the resort. As a few people said it was hard to figure out how to order but once I asked, after ordering from the plastic mat on the bar like most places, I was told that what was on the all-you-can-eat was on the menu propped up on the bar and it was a good size menu. Started with the tako and it was tender, they didn’t have the scallop so I went for the tuna, salmon and eel, all were good, that’s when they told me I could pick anything on the all-you-can-eat dinner menu with the # sign on it, that was like everything! Calif. Deluxe and dragon roll came next but little did I know that two of those can feed three people, good thing I walked and I’m wearing elastic waist shorts or I would have had trouble breathing. I was a single dinner and the place was small enough that I did not feel out of place, even if I did I would have ordered sake and let it rise on but I had to walk the short 3 – 4 blocks back to the resort, not like in Vegas where their blocks are like miles apart and to get to one end of the casino floor you have to hire a cab. One of the sushi chefs that came a little bit after I started to eat asked me have I been there before and I told him it was my first time and I read about the place in Unilocal.Told him the last time I had sushi in Reno was like 15 years ago at Sushi Club, heard that place changed. He asked me where I came from and said San Jose, and then realized that I had an Acapulco tank top on and said Ca. not Puerto Rico, even though I am Asian, can happen. Told him some of the sushi places I’ve been too like San Jose, Maui, Vegas and Acapulco and I loved this place. After finishing my meal for 2 he hands me a dish that had thin slices of tuna, I think it’s from the belly as it had a wonderful chewy texture and the sauce was incredible, it was sweet with a basil taste and a few seconds it started to heat up a little, he called it pepper tuna or something close, it was the most wonderful raw sashimi with in-house homemade sauce, it’s not on the menu but when I go back in Nov. I am hunting that down. If you are in Reno and staying in the core of the casinos it’s only 3 block from Sierra St heading west on 5th. Side note, they were showing the 49er’s game but that’s another story, good thing I hit a jackpot after I left Sushi Lovers, made it easier.

I feel bad because both the waitress & the sushi chef we had were extremely friendly but the atmosphere & the sushi just wasn’t doing it for me. I would describe the inside as a small sushi-sports bar. It felt very cramped and just gave off kind of a weird energy. As for the sushi overall, I just wasn’t impressed. The chief did make a sushi egg roll for one of my friends which looked delicious so I will give them that! But like I said, the staff was super friendly but to compete with the other places in town I think Sushi Lover could show a little more attention to the décor & amp the(a la carte) menu up a bit. Who knows maybe that’s the look they were going for & I just didn’t get it… :/

I’m going to give it 3 Stars for now. All you can eat at $ 17.95 for lunch. But the rolls seem to be limited to those with salmon and shrimp. You could order one Sushi Lovers’ Special roll — only with lunch. or with all you can eat. not quite sure. So I asked… what’s in a Sushi Lovers Special… and they gave me a list of not 1 or 2 or even 3 options, but 88 different rolls. Here’s where all the rolls with the various tunas were. Also, at first we didn’t know how it worked. We asked should we just call out what we wanted as is common at many other sushi bars. And the sushi chef practically yelled at us. «you don’t have to order everything at once.» OK! So we order little by little, never sure if he heard us or not. not getting any indication or acknowledgement. And then I ordered a Sushi Lovers Special only to find out it was fried… which was not noted on the menu. After a while, he actually got friendly and answered our questions. Even made a special tuna dish to in place of one the allowed Sushi Lovers items. Told us we can order anything and ask that it not be fried, or even change a roll around. So maybe we happened upon this sushi chef on a bad day… we all get those once in awhile. So yes, I will definitely try it again. now that I know the rules on ordering. The sushi itself was good… a bit too much rice… but tasty.

I went here for the first time today because a friend of mine had recommended it to me, and needless to say I was impressed. I ate from their vegetarian menu so I, unfortunately, have no opinion on the fish, but their vegetarian menu has about 40 different selections to choose from. A couple of their rolls were really good and a couple of them had a different taste to them(from the sauce that they had used), but it was still good regardless. They definitely, I feel, get creative with the vegetarian rolls unlike other sushi places that I have been to where you only have about 5 rolls to choose from(which really isn’t a big deal for me). Everyone was also really friendly their as well. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

I’ll keep it short and sweet. The chef and waiters were really nice and attentive. My problem? When my boyfriend and I both come home and throw up within an hour of eating their sushi, there’s a problem.

I live near by and I’ve been meaning to try this place for a few months. I loved all the rolls. Especially the JL roll and I’m obsessed with the Renee chips. My only complaint would be that the rolls were a bit too heavy on the rice and I didn’t have a list of the special rolls. Otherwise everything was great and I’d definitely recommend it to a friend. Friendly staff :)

Reno Nevada well known for its all you can eat sushi restaurants. This place has that and then some. There are many familiar rolls such as Godzilla, caterpillar etc but this restaurant adds that extra something to make it taste better. They have a very huge selection for vegetarians and alternate dishes if sushi isn’t your thing. Excellent and fast service, reasonable prices. I recommend this place!

I want to start off by saying I love sushi and I am willing to try most sushi restaurants at least once but I will not be returning to this one. I took my brother out to dinner for his birthday and he wanted to go to Sushi Lovers downtown. I had never even heard of the place before today. We were seated at the bar and there were 4 of us. The first thing I noticed was the funky smell of the restaurant. I know fish has a certain smell but this smell was not pleasant. I ordered the mussels and they were not good. I then ordered their Fiji mt roll. I have never seen rolls this big in my life. I couldn’t even fit one whole piece in my mouth. The fish was also not the best quality. I have had way better fish at other sushi bars. My next complaint is that there were only 2 sushi chefs for 10 people sitting at the bar plus 5 or 6 tables. It took 10+minutes to even get one roll. We were there for almost 2 hours because of how slow the service was. Also AYCE did not include dessert here. Which I found very odd for the price being $ 22.95. Over all I will not be returning.

My cousin and I went on a sushi date for lunch today. She’d been here before and loved it. I found it to be only ok. I’ve definitely had fresher fish. I didn’t get sick or anything, it wasn’t bad or off(it’s 9+ hours later and I feel totally fine) but it just didn’t have the taste and mouth-feel of super fresh fish. I had to dip it in soy sauce to kind of aid the flavor which is something I don’t usually do when eating sushi. The menu didn’t list any appetizers. Apparently you have to ask about them specially and I think they’re an extra charge when you’re only doing lunch AYCE. So we didn’t get any. I started with my favorite– pieces of salmon with lemon. They are generous with the fish, I’ll give them that. There was only a little bit of rice buried in the back of the pieces of fish, which is a good thing and would have been spectacular if only the salmon had tasted a little fresher. The lunch menu is super small and limited and about half the rolls have unagi– yuck. I did like the rolls I chose, except that they were enormous. I had three orders of salmon, one of upside down shrimp, one of scallops, and then I could only eat 2 rolls(the happy and the lemon drop) before I was stuffed. The green tea ice cream isn’t included in the lunch AYCE but I got some anyway because green tea ice cream. They gave me a large serving and I ate it all and then I regretted that immediately. It’s so rich that a small serving is plenty. A large serving will revisit you for hours, take my word for it.
