This library is definitely on the smaller side. A majority of the time all the computers are overtaken by middle school kids playing mimecraft and checking their Facebook. I usually can find the book I’m looking for. There is always some free event or story time going on when I come. I’ll be happy when the new one on Sunset

Three stars simply because it’s a library reasonably close to my house. Sam earns this library an extra star. He’s a real gem! The building itself is dark, small and kind of, well, yucky. But it’s clean and I had no problem finding a zillion interesting things on the shelves. As a taxpayer footing the bill, I’m perfectly ok with this. The parking lot kind of bites. It’s too small for the number of patrons. For this reason I prefer the main Renton branch. It’s easier to zip in and out on my way home from work. A drive-through book drop/pick-up window would be THEBOSS! I know, there’s probably security and expense reasons libraries don’t have this. I’d be willing to pay a fee for this… hint, hint…

This is a pretty decent library. It has a separate room that can be used for a quiet study room(as long as there’s no conflicting programs). The library gets more loud and active after school hours. The teen and children’s area are small. However, they are planning to move this library to a new location soon.

The Renton Library System has a main branch(downtown) and the Highlands Branch. The whole system boasts about 100 volumes — okay, I’m exaggerating, but really. The architecture of the library is somewhat interesting — I’d guess 1960’s hip. The Highlands library is a decent satellite and offers three computers for use, ample wireless access, and lots of tables for study. The library is surprisingly busy in the afternoon filled with kids from the local schools looking for a place to hang out. The librarians seem to do a good job of entertaining them and giving them a safe space. The branch is focused on younger families and I’ve heard has a good story-time. I really only come here in the summer when I am in search of air-conditioned wireless. Its likely that I’ll be the only person in the library with wireless needs making my connection speedy and uninterrupted!
