Very nice shop in Reston Town Center. But, unfortunately not very friendly. While we were there three employees only one said anything to us. That one wasn’t what I would call friendly. They have nice things. Prices on par for what they sell. One employee was nice to a young man who bought some small puppets, giving props for that. This kind of shop needs people who smile when customers walk in. There were some beautiful unique jewelry boxes would have bought. Oh well, can spend my money somewhere else.

Appalachian Spring is a groovy little shop in the Reston Town Center. You can enter the shop from the street or an interior hallway from the Hyatt Regency. They carry a wide variety of home décor items, as well as some nice jewelry. I stopped in an attempt to find some Men’s sterling silver hoop earrings. They had some, but not exactly what I was looking for. Liz, one of the Shopkeepers, was very helpful. She took my name and phone number and did some research to see if she could order for me exactly what I was looking for. She called me back two days later to follow up. Great service! Just bummed they did not have what I wanted!

Ever tried to give a jewelry box as a gift? It is surprisingly hard to find in this area. However, Appalachian Spring is the best place to find one. I love exotic hardwoods and this place seems to have an endless supply of handcrafted wood boxes from burl walnut and holly, to spalted maple and ebony. The prices are high, however, the wooden anomalies are impossible for man to breed and extrordinarily difficult to find in nature. The perfect place to find a gift for a wedding or birthday.

3.5 stars Appalachian Spring has an interesting variety of gifts — vases, bowls, cutting boards, jewelry, kids items, picture frames etc, but like Gayle and Lynn said — pricey. It is one of the better places in the area to go looking for unique gifts. Customer service is not always what I’d expect. For example, I recently bought a gift there, and the cashier wrapped in up and stuffed it into a box that the gift was clearly too big to fit in… she seemed a bit overwhelmed(it took awhile for even that to get wrapped) and so it wasn’t worth protesting so I just reboxed it at home. Still, given what they charge you’d at least expect to get a presentable box for your gift!

Agree with Lynn S. on the sticker shock associated with some of the items here… yikes! I guess it is par for the course since this store is right next to the Hyatt and in Reston Town Center. However, it is tough to find unique and pretty incredible(you have to see ‘em to believe it) bowls, cutting boards and other fictional kitchen and decorative items. Everything in the store is handmade in the U.S. of A. There’s beautiful silver jewelry, clay vases and neat-o kaleidoscopes. This is my go-to place for wedding(or anniversary gifts) for that couple that has everything. You know the type. The items made out of wood here are lovely, and in every kind of wood you can think of, too.

Handmade glass vases, jewelry, baby gifts, fabric items, rare woods and assorted pottery are all on display. A small shop, but somewhere you will find a unique gift and get as much help as you need. Pricey, but not outrageous, the artists represented here produce high quality items. The shop can be entered either directly from the street or through the Hyatt Hotel in Reston Town Center.
