This is a hole in the wall that is a throw back to a time when there weren’t so many chain hamburger places. Which is a good thing. I ordered the cheese burger(#9) with sweet potato fries. I was surprised that the cheese was shredded cheese. But the burger was very good. The sweet potato fries weren’t very good to me. The service was quick & the price is great. I’ll be back & I must try the root beer.

Man. I live close to here and had heard tons of rave reviews about the burgers and I really, really REALLY wanted to love this place. I was underwhelmed. The burgers and fries were totally forgettable. Super laid-back atmosphere though.

The first time we went it was amazing, the second time it was just average. Different fry cooks tho so maybe that’s it? We’ll be going back a third time to see if #2 was just a fluke!

Great service, by far the best burger in Richardson. The fries are the best in town. No complaints at all. Can’t wait to go back!

So many great things about this place. Tasty burgers, laid-back atmosphere, and great staff. Even with so many great hole-in-the-wall burger places in the area, this one stands out. I always recommend this place to out of towners and friends. Make sure to get the house root beer to compliment your burger. Definitely will be a great addition to your meal.

I wanted a burger with no nonsense. Absolutely no nonsense. That’s what I got. You looking for some nonsense with your burger? Go elsewhere. Prices were good. Burger was good. I left happy. No nonsense.

Delicious burgers! Very friendly and attentive staff, especially the owner, «Hoss». I have been going here for many years and will continue to do so. The Texas cheeseburger is really tasty! Their fries, tater tots, and onion rings are also delightful.

This place is an institution. It’s been around since 1957. A true throwback burger place. It’s not one of these namby pamby hipster burger place. This is the real deal. This place could be out in the middle of the country, not in downtown Richardson. Great food with a fun old school environment. Do yourself a favor get the fam, a friend, heck go by yourself… eat here.

Definitely your typical hole in the wall type of restaurant, where the exterior doesn’t do it much justice! You park outside this small burger place and come inside to see such friendly places. It’s not a big place, but the service and atmosphere makes it a nice place to enjoy a burger and a cup of root beer with your closest friends. It’s also a lot of food for a good price! I’m sad to say I’ve only been here once. I can’t wait to come back.

Holy Ship. This place is amazing. Great burgers. Cool atmosphere, friendly staff. I actually take out of towners here to show off. I have no clue what their hours are though. I feel like I’m playing Russian roulette when I drive up. Is it open? Is it closed? What day is this? So much yes. Wow. Much burgers.

This place brings back memories of summertime as a kid, eating a hamburger with the lingering taste and smell of the charcoal grill. Plain white bun, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, and an ice cold rootbeer. Del’s is by no means fancy, but they’re just great at what they do. They’re off the beaten path, but get there early at lunch, there’s barely space for 20 people inside. The house rootbeer comes in a frosty mug, it’s ice cold and not too sweet. Bring an extra $ 0.50, because you’ll probably want a refill. I hadn’t been in a few years and it hasn’t changed, and I hope they don’t plan to anytime soon.

I love this place. I have been going here since I was in middle school and now, almost graduated from college, I still go here. The service is spectacular. The owner is extremely nice and the place feels cozy. Definitely gives off that local and hole in the wall vibe which I love for a food place. But more importantly, the food is amazing. All their charcoal burgers are well cooked and flavored. The burgers are very old fashioned and straight to the point. They are nothing fancy, you are getting what you are asking for. The prices are extremely fair for what you portions you are receiving. The homemade root beer is definitely something you should try, even if you are not a huge soda drinker. In my opinion, the fries are the most under rated part of this restaurant. I love how they are so crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Overall, this place is amazing. Definitely a must go to if you ever stop by in Richardson/Dallas Area. Great food, great place and great people. All three essentials in a restaurant.

This has become our favorite burger place in north Dallas. Since moving here about 2 years ago, I’ve been looking for a great burger place. Have found several that are pretty good but this one easily tops the list. I get the Texas Cheeseburger with no veggies. It is cheese, bacon, and bbq sauce and is delicious. I don’t mind the shredded cheese, mine has always been melted perfectly. I really like their fries too; the fiancé doesn’t like the fries quite as much as I do. He has also tried a guac burger which he really liked as well. The place is TINY so if you go when it’s busy, there just isn’t a lot of room for anyone(mainly at the counter when you order). Aside from that, the wait is not usually more than 5 — 10 minutes for the burgers, even when they are busy. It’s worth the wait though!

In my life, rarely have I enjoyed a charcoal grilled burger as I did at Del’s. The whole experience starts as you turn down the side street and pull up on this little stop, with what seems like it’s a novelty pawn shop with a couple of patio tables outside. As soon as you open your door, the Smokey smell smothers you and your taste buds are called to attention. When you go in, you recognize many past American heroes as heroines: Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne, James Dean and others, to add to the whole experience. The whole place screams a country western ambiance, except for the staff. When I order, I got a cheeseburger with fries and a drink, my bill comes out to be around 8 and some change. The burger and fries come soon after and all this was piling up anxiety and I am ready to dig in. The burger probably because it was a charcoal grilled was probably not the juciest burger I’ve had but the flavor was there, and it didn’t disappoint. The cheese was a bit weird, they used shredded cheese instead of a whole slice. That really isn’t the point, the focus is on the beef that was exceptionally grilled. The fries were also top notch. They were crispy but not burnt and seasoned just right. The food and service were both executed in an exceptionally expected manner, so I am going to give this place 5 stars. I wish the burgers were to order and I should have put more toppings on the burger, but that will be saved for other times. I will be coming back, but over all, as far as first impressions go, I’m impressed.

I must have done something wrong! Saturday around 1pm, pretty full. I was excited. Read the reviews here, had a friend make a solid recommendation… Front of the line I ordered the cheeseburger with curly fries(no tomatoes). After a little bit of wait, not too bad because you knew they were cooking order and it was on the tail end of busy lunch crowd — my number was called. Yippie. Got the burger, located a knife, cut in half to see what I was about to dig into. Shredded cheese? Wait what did I order? Cold shredded cheese on a burger? Ekk, would not have done this if I knew it was shredded. I added some ketchup, tried to keep the cheese sprinkles in the buns with the shredded lettuce and pickles. It was not easy or pleasant. Burger had great flavor, it was juicy, I like the ratio of meat to bun. Did not like the sprinkle cheese. Had it been melted, maybe I would not have cared. But it was cold and not complimentary to the rest of this tasty burger. Curly fries were standard. I still prefer them over regular fries any day. I did try the regular fries since the hubs order them. My choice of curly was indeed the right way to go. I’m not opposed to going back, but will not order a burger with cheese. I might try the tots too. The only thing better than curly fries… Tots.

Came here with a coworker for lunch. The place looks tiny from the street but surprisingly has a decent amount of seating. We went early, closer to 11a than Noon and there were plenty of available seats. I would imagine that it would be pretty crowded if you wait to come during the rush. I had the Texas cheeseburger combo($ 9). The Texas cheeseburger has cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeños and BBQ sauce. The burger was a decent size. The patty was cooked on the well side but it wasn’t dry. It’s one of the better fast food type burgers. The fries are basic, nothing special. Next time, I’d order onion rings instead. Not a bad place for a quick lunch if you’re in the area. The guy at the counter was pleasant and helpful.

I will never go to a Red Robin or Scotty P’s again after eating here. From now on if I’m in town and in the mood for a burger, I’m coming to Del’s. The burger is just like you’d make one in the back yard or at the park on Memorial Day. The onion rings are decent and the tots put Sonic’s to shame. Del’s has root beer floats too. I didn’t have one but I did try the root beer itself and it was delicious. For desert Del has a salted caramel brownie on a graham cracker crust and holy cow it is a home run!!! Del’s is open Mon-Sat 10AM-9PM If you like burgers and you’re in the Dallas area or visiting, you gotta try Del’s

After seeing this place recommended on a talk thread I was really excited about trying them out. I was equally excited as I parked and smelled the aroma! My excitement was squashed when I walked in and saw frozen patties on the grill. I guess I’m a bit of a burger snob, but I truly prefer fresh meat. I ordered anyway and although the burger is frozen they season them well. I did find it to be a bit overcooked though and that is also a burger no-no. The fries were decent, but also frozen. The guy at the counter was friendly and I did like the old school feel of the place. I’ll hope they see this review and look into serving fresh meat, but I doubt my words have that much power, but hope is a good thing.
